"Kani Kyuri" is a traditional Japanese inn, primarily focused on the concept of "Bekkyu no Aji," which means to provide the guests with comforts similar to home while also offering them a different experience that they wouldn't get at their own place.
In simple terms, Japanese inns concentrate on meticulous service, striving to demonstrate care and attention "before the guest even has to ask."
So, in theory, when Nanahara Takeshi and his party returned, the several maids in the entrance hall should have immediately greeted them warmly, helped carry buckets and belongings, or at the very least, offered a polite "Welcome back," but this time the maids seemed distracted, their attention clearly inside the inn, not even glancing at the guests.
