Gu Tao was startled for a moment. Mr. Zheng had said that Ai lacked a human scent, which was accurate. But, by rights, Ai's mana had become so strong that common folk shouldn't have been able to tell she was a demon. This suggested that Mr. Zheng had an extremely keen sense of spirit.
"Sigh... What does it matter if one is human or not? Sometimes humans are worse than demons and beasts," Mr. Zheng muttered to himself, "As long as you two are happy, that's what counts."
"Tell me," Gu Tao finished his drink, "are you some kind of hermit or expert in disguise?"
"Expert my ass, I'm just a mushroom farmer, but living in the mountains for years on end, I've seen plenty of strange things. Looks like you're aware of your wife's story," Mr. Zheng squinted at Gu Tao, "I knew you weren't an ordinary person."
Gu Tao smiled and waved his hand dismissively, "I know, but I'm just a lousy teacher. Let's just drop this subject, alright?"
