Yin Rong looked up at Gu Tao, her eyes shining brightly, "But... I'm a monster."
"Who isn't?"
Gu Tao gently gave her a hug, then turned to address the children who were as cautious as Yin Rong had originally been, "Do you want to come with me?"
"What's in it for us? How do we know you're not a human trafficker?"
Well, this was a serious concern; they must have all had experiences with human traffickers, which would explain their wariness of strangers. Unable to immediately earn their trust, Gu Tao whispered something into Yin Rong's ear after a standoff.
"Are you going to take them home too?"
Yin Rong referred to the base as home, and Gu Tao did not bother to correct her; after all, for her, the base was now her home. It was where all her belongings were, and she was probably the only person among everyone at the base who would call that place home, while for others it was, at most, a temporary dwelling or workplace.
"It depends on what you think."
