Here, 'thin and long' is relative to the terrifying size of the Corrupted Massive Root. In comparison to ordinary people, it was still an insurmountably horrifying entity.
The Corrupted Massive Root had a head, but no tail.
On its other side, it did not exist in the Material Plane but vanished into a black mist, which was another world—the Ether Plane.
It was but a small part of some terrifying existence.
