Chapter 29 - Transformation

Lucian's body faintly glowed as the Energy spread throughout his body. He felt his Mana reserves expanding, his physical strength increasing, and his senses sharpening. The pure 'Celestial Energy' cleansed every part of him, making him feel warm and comfortable.

Although Lucian was excited, his focus quickly shifted to near his heart, where the 'Celestial Energy' had converged.

Soon, Lucian began feeling a strange, yet profound sensation.

Lucian watched as the 'Celestial Energy' began twisting and turning. It was not painful or even uncomfortable… He felt… As if what was happening was natural.

The process was slow, but Lucian did not mind. He continued to wait patiently as time ticked by.

Thunderfall City Adventurer's Guild Branch

On one of the many tables within the Adventurer's Guild, the members of Lion's Liver were sitting and eating after they were done preparing for the escort quest tomorrow.

Hervy cleared his throat and wiped his hands with a tissue. After getting his friends' attention, his expression changed to worry.

"Captain, are you sure you don't want me to go and tell owner Lucian that we are leaving at five in the morning tomorrow?"

Of course, had it not been for the saliva he just swallowed and the fact that he had asked that same question for the sixth time, they might have believed him.

After a while, Garrett sighed and stood up with a shake of his head.

"Unless you want to get blacklisted, go ahead. I'm going home."

Lane, Cody, and Coby nodded at their Captain's words, then stood up. It was getting dark. They wanted to rest early for the escort quest tomorrow.

After hearing the word 'blacklisted' Hervy's fake worried expression changed to real worry. The last thing he wanted was to get blacklisted from Transcendence. That place was his Heaven.

Quickly, Hervy stood up and said:

"I'll see you guys tomorrow."

He then hastily made his way out of the Adventurers Guild under his friends' dumbfounded gazes.

After a few seconds, Lane chuckled.

"At least, instead of wasting his parents' Mana Stones at the Pleasure Pavilion, he will now use it for something beneficial."

Cody and Coby eagerly nodded. Had it not been for the owner's rules, they would not be eating at the Adventurer's Guild. Instead, they would have been stuffing their faces with delicious Siren's Melody Poached Eggs.

After swallowing hard, Cody and Coby turned to Garrett and spoke:

"Captain, we-"

"Are going. Bye"

Garrett nodded and watched the twins and Lane walk to the back of the Adventurer's Guild before opening the door and leaving.

Behind the Adventurer's Guild were three-story apartment complexes. The Adventurer's Guild provided any adventurer who had reached the Blood Tempering Realm with free housing. The rooms were old and dusty, but for adventures who had gone through life and death and were usually covered in blood from Magical Beasts, those conditions were nothing.

Only he and Hervy lived in houses. Hervy was rich because of his parents; therefore, money was not an issue for him. He lived on the northern side of Thunderfall City next to the four Noble Families.

As for Garrett, he had plenty of wealth stashed away from when he was still the heir to the Blackthorne Family, but to keep his identity from leaking, he chose to live a rather modest lifestyle. If not for his bedridden mother and his precious little sister, he would have chosen to live in the Adventurer's Guild apartments. However, even if the Adventurer's Guild made an exception and allowed his mother and little sister to live there, he would never allow them to live in such conditions.

Thunderfall City, Southern District, Redal.

Garrett calmly made his way to the Southern District, also named Redal. Compared to the Nobles District, which had three-story beautiful mansions, this place stood in complete contrast. No shop or house went beyond one story. The air was thick with dust, and the atmosphere was dreary.

While walking, Garrett noticed many familiar faces staring at him in astonishment and whispering in hushed voices.

A burly man who was closing his shop shook his head and whispered:

"Haah, which idiot pissed off a Noble?"

On the side of the street, when a middle-aged woman with way too much makeup on her face saw Garrett's handsome appearance, she felt her cheeks blushing. She licked her lips and eyed him like a predator, but hesitated to approach him. The difference between her and a Noble was too big. Internally, she thought, but due to her agitated mood, she accidentally spoke out loud in a meek voice:

"He's so handsome…"

She gulped and then added:

"I really want to devour him!"

When the bystanders heard the meek-sounding voice, they turned in the direction of the voice and became slackjawed.

Of course, they had no idea who the handsome man was and thought he was someone from the Nobles District who became offended and came here to beat someone up.

Although Garrett was internally embarrassed, he kept a composed face outwardly.

After walking for ten minutes, Garrett finally arrived at a one-story wooden building with only a single window, covered by an equally brown drape, next to the door.

Garrett lightly knocked on the door and waited. Soon, he heard a soft pitter-patter sound, causing a smile to grace his lips.

Garrett heard the sound of the door's lock being opened, followed by the creaking of the door as it opened, revealing a pink-haired, pink-eyed beautiful woman.

Even after seeing her big brother outside the door, Lily did not greet him as she usually would.

Before opening the door, she already knew who was outside with her Mana Sense.

Lily glanced at Garrett from the corner of her eye, pouted with annoyance clearly evident in her tone, and then walked back into the house with her arms on her hips.

Lily was still annoyed at him for not telling her about the delicious Siren's Melody Poached Egg.

Could it be that his friends were more important than her?

Therefore, Lily decided to give him the silent treatment.
