Chapter 18 - CH-16 Iris vs Amelia[end]

[Master, Are you going to surrender?] Harriet spoke as I stood before Amelia Harper. The reason? Iris's duel is with her and the primary one.

'Although, I don't plan to use my full power, as I hate losing without putting any injury on opponents but probably I will be defeated by her.' Iris told her in thought. 'Surely, showing my full strength is above average or equal, but I don't want to go overboard.'

She concentrated her gaze on Amelia, who was clutching a spear and staring attentively at Iris's soul.

"Are both of you ready?" Gwen petitioned them, as she stood in the bystander seats with the other students, to review and improve themselves.

"Yeah!" Iris retaliated.

Amelia gave a short nod, "...Mm!"

"The rules are simple..." Gwen originated, "Don't kill your opponent. Instead, force them internationally to submit or blackout your opponent."

—Klap!

She clapped her hands together, "And your battle kicked off!"

—Swish!

Amelia rushed forward quickly, leaving behind an afterimage or faint visual photo.

As she moved, Iris grabbed her sword sheath with her left arm and her naked sword with her right arm. Statuesque, she essays to distinguish Amelia's whereabouts.

'She's behind me,' Iris ducked down as a tip of a spear cut about an inch off the ends of her hair.

Since it flowed upwards as she slid away to increase the distance between them.

"Almost got you!" Amelia muttered with a poker face but then her eyes narrowed as an intense red aura rephrase from Iris. It was visible to everyone that Iris's movements took on a much more murderer or terrorists.

'Eh… If she hadn't stopped there, Mia would have gone crazy in a matter of seconds. On our point, how could…' Even Gwen found it hard to trust that a young girl like Iris could project such a powerful killing intent.

Mastering the art of killing intent is no easy feat, much less to produce. It dictate culminate restrict over one's emotions, mental state, physical prowess and spiritual fortitude.

So it was unbelievable that Iris had this level of killing intent, if only they knew it was just a bit... of bad gas after too many baked beans for lunch!

[Hehehe~~ Oh, she's in for it now.] Harriet chuckled mockingly. [Master really inclined her hair…]

"You better look at it. Next time, aim anywhere but my hair," Iris threatened, her killing intent aura subsiding and everyone breathed a sigh of relief, knowing how tense the situation had been with a single thought: Never mess with girl's face, makeup, And their liking.

"...And what recourse shall you take?" Amelia queried, arching her brows inquisitively, as her breathing was measured.

Yet she had no trepidation from the admonition. she saw Iris's absence from her previous stance and a peril encroaching upon her periphery.

"I. Will. Kill. You even if it necessitates my own obliteration!" Iris's voice carried in the air.

—thud!

"Argh!" Before Amelia could react, the pommel of a blade collided with her cranium.

The jolt sent tremors rippling through her head, compounded by Iris's subsequent blow to her chin, vehemently her step backward.

"Commendable!" Amelia remarked, dabbing the rivulet of blood from the corner of her lip as she hurled herself with her skill name. [Mirror Steps!]

'Excessively fast!' Iris intuit that with every stride Amelia took, myriad phantasmal doppelgangers eventuate to obfuscate her vision.

"Huh!" A shiver ran down her vertebrae as a javelin thrust menacingly towards her abdomen. Upon whirling around in direction, there was naught but emptiness.

—Shlick!

'Eh! What is this…' Yet, an laceration approximately two inches deep marred her flank, dangerously close to her pulsating core, as her blazer was rent asunder while her ribcage was cracked.

"Damn it!" Iris vociferation in anger, hastily retreating from her location and divesting herself of her blazer, throwing it to the side.

The garment was obtrusive and undue constraints upon her mobility.

—Thump!

"Ahh!" Another clout flew towards her face, and upon knock, she stumbled to the ground.

"Every action elicits an equivalent and opposing reaction." Amelia intoned, towering over Iris's prone vessel, before slosh a kick to her abdomen.

"Grhh!...Ehem!" Iris expectorated a gout of crimson blood upon the earth. With a violent arc, she swung her blade, exact Amelia to leap away as Iris recoup her footing.

"Perhaps I should sown some of my special technique." she internationally muttered loudly.

Her eyes transmuted to a sanguine hue as she channeled her spirit essence into the sword's steel.

"Don't let yourself die!" The weapon greedily devoured the ethereal energy. Once Iris slashed in a horizontal trajectory, a vermilion tsunami-esque wavefront left to rampage.

It cleaved through the very atmosphere, scotch a portion of the earth while sabotaging the surrounding oxygen and ambient energy.

'What unprecedented artform is this? Its existence has never been mentioned in books, my ears nor eyes.' Amelia pondered, her respirations ceasing as the noxious wavefront drew near.

It transmutes the very air into a virulent miasma. [Barrier of Sanctuary!]

Her formerly ebony lance revoluted, taking on a golden luminescence. She spun it before her a single time, creating a diaphanous aureate aegis, its evolution decelerating once the defensive bulwark solidified.

A sardonic smirk played across Amelia's lips. 'Now it's… pernicious action will be mut-...Wha-'

—Kssssh-CRUNCH!

The powerful wave attack shattered right through Amelia's protective barrier. When it touched her skin on her chest area first, it burned intensely, penetrating her clothes and meat layer; causing gush of blood to catapult out.

But the devastating effects didn't stop there because...

—Boom!

The wave exploded and made Amelia's wounds tear open even additionally and burn her clothes ablaze with flames.

"Shit!" Amelia cursed loudly. And dropped down to her knees, collar her hand at the bleeding wound, She fabricated ice over the fire.

The wintry cold snow support to slow and extinguish the flames engulfing clothes, Also stopped her bleeding. 'I mustn't lower my guard, even with an injury.'

She glanced up before Iris could prepare another spell but saw Iris's face was white yet smiling. "Next time, You won't be… winner!"

—Thud!

In an instant, Iris collapsed to the ground.
