It was a disjoint and somewhat confusing narration of different scenarios within the kingdom and many more people died as a result.
It portrayed in great detail, the filth of human society. A society filled with slavery, gambling, prostitution, rape, theft, murder, persecution, bribery, treason, drug addiction and etcetera.
All manner of criminal acts in the times of war.
Acts that, in other words, would be deemed as sin.
It took on the viewpoint of drug dealers, offenders, criminals, and corrupt nobles. Indiscriminatory disclosure of those in high society down to the peasants in sewers.
It also unveiled the horrors of the battlefield. A vivid description of a graveyard where many laid down their lives for 'the greater good'.
Such was the lawless world.
It had no basic human rights, no light or hope. No salvation in sight.
Nowhere was safe.
This reality was written point blank so I could not ignore it. The wide range of emotions burst forth different characters.
Anger, horror, pain, anxiety, sadness, hopelessness, indignation, guilt, frustration, loneliness…
I was immersed, almost swallowed whole in the whirlpool of emotions, sinking into a suffocating density of which they drowned me.
The second volume ended as such, without any particular ending.
I was intrigued enough to continue to the third and final volume.
The third volume was slightly better.
I came to understand the former two volumes were set in a time when war was ongoing.
The long night's war had come to an end and the dawn of peace was rising. A hopeful silver lining mixed with the golden radiance of twilight.
The kingdom had gained some restfulness and people, or rather, survivors could build a stable life one way or another. In harmony, they worked together and to bury the past, build their fallen homes, and farm in the scorched fields.
But let's be honest…
In such a broken world, what could, possibly grow?
Well, basically, the third volume goes like this. The world put in efforts to pick up its broken pieces until that event.
The event that led to the end of the world.
It completely shattered the silver lining and brought about despair. Something they couldn't hope to defeat, their demise.
What was it???
Ah!
Clatter! Clatter! Mumble! Mumble!
The pain was getting the better of me and my ears seemed to register sound now. That was an improvement if only it wasn't so rackety and rowdy.
"Why the hell is it so damn noisy?"
I spoke out loud, somewhat surprising myself and gaining gasps from the noisy gang.
My gaze found the source of the noise. Oh, my eyelids could open now and my eyesight was just slightly blurry.
Glancing around, I saw unfamiliar figures looking at me vigilantly. They slowly backed away with guarded positions and I could see one reach out for a syringe.
'Am I such a threat?'
The weary look on their faces was somewhat ironic since I should be the traumatized one. I was the one tied up in iron bars on a metal table no less.
Slowly or maybe quickly, I was getting better control of my body. A chill ran down my body but mostly settled in my abdomen.
Weird!
Why would it be especially cold in my abdomen?
I raised my head with strain and looked down only to see the full glory of my nakedness.
Well, not a pretty sight.
I was a bloody mess and it seemed like my skin was opened up. Some, no.. scratch that, many of my insides were missing. I was hollow with only giant, worm-like coiled intestines settled inside with traces of blood. A slimy mess.
Blegh!
Ah! I was right!
They were after my organs!
"Hey, do you think my organs sell much?"
My mouth blurted out not expecting an answer but I got one regardless.
"Pretty much. A few million if not more- Oh!"
The man seemed surprised after answering that. His eyes widened his shock as he covered his mouth only to realize the bloody glove was still on. He frantically used his white coat to rub his mouth area leaving me slightly dejected aggressively.
'Am I so disgusting?'
Probably the wrong way to go about this.
I looked into his eyes only to have him shift his gaze away. I was starting to get pissed off.
I was the one to be afraid here, not the other way around.
Haa!
I sighed!
I glanced around to figure out where the fuck I was.
Typically, I was in a large iron roof and brick wall warehouse which looked very worn out and uncleaned for that note. Details of spider webs all around, broken metal rods, and car wheels stuck up at a corner. Besides that, the large space was essentially empty.
"Don't I at least deserve the basic decency of a clean place?"
Then again, they wouldn't abduct me if they were going to treat me like a human, even animals got better care than I currently did.
My eyes were attracted to a tray. On a surgical table which had cylinder containers that held my organs. I guess they are no longer mine at this point so there was no need to say 'my' organs but you catch the drift.
Anyways, the organs included the spleen, liver, gallbladder, and both kidneys. If you are wondering how I knew this, it was simple.
They had fucking labeled the containers.
There were several other cylinders still empty waiting for filling. This included the heart, eyeballs, skull, and skin. There was one for small intestines there too.
I assume they wouldn't let any of me go to waste.
Literary.
There was a large metal container too on the side. It was already filled with blood.
I guess it was understandable. I was one of the few with an RNnull blood type. You know, the rare 1%.
My blood alone was worth a lot. I had considered donating for money but as it turns out, I won't get to live until then.
'Who knew they trafficked this many organs? I thought only kidneys were needed.'
I have to point out, that not very often you see your organs, since by then, you would be dead. In that sense I was lucky.
Oh…That was the thing I was missing.
