When the enemy was in pursuit, one had to flee for their life; when the enemy ceased their chase, it was only logical to seize the opportunity to make a swift escape. However, Zhang Yong and Yang Yi both concurred that understanding why the enemy had stopped was of even greater importance.
Sometimes, the enemy's cessation of pursuit was no cause for celebration, for one could not fathom the reasons behind it. Optimistically, one might assume the enemy's vehicles had collectively run out of fuel or that they had all gone mad and dropped dead.
Of course, none of these possibilities existed and to contemplate the worst-case scenario was even more terrifying: perhaps a more formidable Mercenary Group was lying in wait ahead, or maybe the enemy considered the chase futile and instead opted for launching missiles from a helicopter.
Thinking along these negative lines led to the realization that numerous possibilities existed.
