The heavy door swung open, and a young man wearing a suit with a gentleman's beard walked into the room with his hands clasped behind his back. Upon seeing Saradin sitting on the carpet, he placed one hand on his chest, bent forward, and said,
"Adams Bede, at your service, Sultan."
Sharply, Saradin's gaze swept over him, and after some time, he asked, "Are you the president of the Adams Commerce Association?"
"Indeed, it is I," Adams replied, twirling his mustache and smiling. "I've heard of your ascension, Sultan, and specially brought a congratulatory gift, hoping you would accept it."
Glancing behind Adams and seeing no gifts, Saradin asked in confusion, "Where is the gift?"
"Trivial worldly possessions are probably not to your liking, Sultan," Adams said calmly. "The gift I wish to present to the Sultan is far more valuable than mere wealth."
