Four years ago, Marvin received a bottle, but he didn't drink it; he gave it to Turey to keep safe, as he was heading to New Ross City, and it wasn't too convenient to carry a bottle of rum that needed long-term preservation.
So much time has passed, and the rum buried back then has gained a special significance, to be opened only at truly celebratory moments.
"I've quit drinking, Joe," Marvin said.
"Quit drinking?" Joshua exclaimed, "Back in the day you were a drunk who needed two bottles of rum a day. How come you've suddenly quit?"
"It's not sudden; I've been sober for four years."
"It wasn't because of that binge-drinking the night before we got ambushed that you decided to quit, was it?"
Marvin didn't answer directly, shaking his head he said, "I've indeed quit. As for the bottle, let's wait until we truly succeed to open it; celebrating now would be a bit too premature."
"Alright."
