Stevenson entered the room led by the brawny man, first observed the environment inside, and then sat opposite the middle-aged gentleman, silent, waiting for the middle-aged gentleman to speak.
"Have you encountered any trouble?" the middle-aged gentleman asked.
"I found the emergency retreat signal," Stevenson said, "Someone put a nutcracker doll in my mailbox outside my house and set a fire. It's a hint that my identity has been exposed, and I need to evacuate immediately."
The middle-aged gentleman uttered an "oh" and thought to himself that it was just as Father Marvin had said. After a bit of thinking, he replied, "Your identity has not been exposed. It's a misunderstanding."
"A misunderstanding?" Stevenson furrowed his brow, "I clearly saw the prearranged secret signal, how could it be a misunderstanding?"
"Because it's not you whose identity has been exposed, but another spy," the middle-aged gentleman said, "We got the target wrong, and we are very sorry."
