The banquet hall was filled with a warm atmosphere; no one had realized the danger approaching, save for Marvin whose body suddenly tensed up.
Noticing the change in Marvin's expression, Holmes asked, "What's wrong?"
"Enemies are coming."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than the ceiling of the hall exploded with a deafening blast, sending stones flying in all directions. Edward shielded Marvin from the flying debris, sparing him from harm. The other guests were not so lucky; amidst screams, several people fell instantly.
The gas lamps hanging from the ceiling ignited the flames, leading to a secondary explosion nearly immediately afterwards. The kerosene tanks embedded in the floors exploded with a loud bang, setting the carpets and curtains within the banquet hall alight in an instant, and suddenly everything was in disarray.
