At dusk, Marvin, who had just returned to Flower Street from the Black Furling District, picked up the latest edition of The Thames Evening News from the doorstep and walked into the shop, where Edward was the only one behind the counter.
"Where's Felix?"
"He has gone out," Edward said, "Helena Sheffield came to see him this afternoon and invited him out to dinner."
With the issue of the Educators Association just emerging, Helena's invitation to Levin made it hard not to think of the Great Prince; Marvin surmised it was highly likely the Great Prince wanted to pry some information from Levin through Helena's approach.
Levin, who had been forewarned, definitely wouldn't spill his guts to the Great Prince, so Marvin wasn't worried he would slip up. After closing the shop, he went straight to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
With both Levin and Daniel not at home, and Edward not eating human food, Marvin only needed to prepare dinner for two.
