The sky was a brilliant blue, and the air was fresh. Freya and Marvin strolled on the grass outside the racecourse, enjoying the mild afternoon sunshine.
Unlike London that was often shrouded in fog, there were no industrial districts near Ascot Racecourse; the surrounding area was natural dense forests, perfect for leisure.
After the first race ended, Freya had no interest in watching the following races and invited Marvin out to the outer field for a walk. From within the grand and magnificent racecourse, the noisy cheers of the crowd could be heard intermittently.
"Nicholas, do you know, just now from that one race, how much money I could make?" Freya asked, with a dark red parasol in hand, having changed back into her dress and put on a lace net hat.
How much money one race could make, Marvin found hard to estimate. He didn't understand the odds and had no idea how much money Freya had bet.
Seeing Marvin shake his head, Freya held out the palm of her hand.
