As London's largest market for second-hand garments, Petticoat Lane begins its day with vendors setting up their stalls.
On both sides of the narrow street, which is only five or six meters wide, are five-story apartments and shops. The vendors set up tents directly on the street, selling second-hand, third-hand, and even more frequently traded clothing.
Here, if you're lucky, you can find castoffs from the nobility, a brand-new overcoat made of a blend of wool, cotton, and silk, which would sell for more than a dozen Gold Pounds in a store, but in Petticoat Lane, it can be yours for less than a fifth of that price.
