Saratov, a city located downstream of the Volga River with a permanent population of two hundred thousand, is the trade center for grain and timber in the Romanov Kingdom. Here, you can purchase timber at a low price; more than half of the wood needed for the reconstruction efforts in Moscow was bought from here.
The houses in this city are different from those in other cities due to the timber and grain trade; most are built of wood, and brick houses have become a rare sight, only a few wealthy masters would build houses with bricks and tiles.
Since the river thawed, the port of Saratov also sprang to life, transporting a large amount of timber and grain daily to the cities upstream on the Volga River.
Although business at the port of Saratov was booming, Scottkin, a serf in a noble's household, couldn't be happy at all.
