The still of the night was profound, and Edward sat at his desk, his black hair tied behind his head. Wearing a monocle with magnifying capabilities over his right eye, he was engrossed in drafting plans.
To ensure there was sufficient light, he had lit three kerosene lamps on the table, which weighed down one corner of the plans. Holding a ruler and charcoal pencil, he sketched and scribbled on the yellowed paper, pausing now and then to think. The bed nearby was neat and clean, showing no sign of being slept in.
Thump thump!
Someone knocked on the door, interrupting Edward's thoughts. He frowned, took off his monocle, and stood up to open the door.
"What is it?"
Before he even opened the door, Edward saw two figures radiating red light behind it, and he immediately recognized them—it was Marvin and Levin.
"Is now a good time?"
