The next day, at 8 a.m., Marvin had his breakfast while picking up the newspaper that Mrs. Cecil had ironed out for him.
It was yesterday's edition of The Times Evening News. The King's Capital, located on Eastern Island, was so far away from New Ross City on West Island that it took a whole night for the newspapers to be printed and transported; this was already the fastest speed, so Marvin could only read yesterday's The Times Evening News.
He grabbed a slice of bacon and stuffed it into his mouth, eyes focused on the front-page news as he read:
"Pope Paul III has died after several days of unsuccessful emergency treatment; the assailant is already in custody. Upon interrogation, it was revealed to be a spy from the Romanov Kingdom, tasked with executing King Paul I of Romanov's plan for religious eradication..."
