Zheng Tan stared at the rear-view mirror for half a minute, trying several different angles, only to find—not one whisker was left unscathed!
The original whiskers, black and straight, filled with toughness, had now, darn it, all curled up!
Cats do not only have whiskers on the sides of their mouths; in fact, they have them in other places too, like above their eyes, on their cheeks, and on their chins—places where people do not usually call them whiskers, and they are easy to overlook. Sometimes, people even refer to the whiskers above a cat's eyes as eyebrows.
Now, the areas where Zheng Tan had long whiskers were almost completely singed by fire, with the whiskers on the sides of his mouth being more noticeably affected.
The "eyebrows" had curled up, the "whiskers" had curled up, and they had curled unevenly and distressingly, making Zheng Tan wish he could smash the rear-view mirror.
