"Bang bang bang—"
Gunshots, sudden and unanticipated, echoed through the night, relentless and continuous.
Taken aback from her deep sleep, Ni Rou was startled awake by the sound, subconsciously trying to sit up in her hammock. But she used too much force and, in an unguarded moment, fell off the hammock.
With a muted groan of pain, Ni Rou was stunned for a moment. She looked towards the source of the noise, only to shockingly discover the gunshots closing in, the attackers revealing themselves.
Several bullets hit near her feet, dust kicked up from the ground, pelting her body with a stinging pain.
Ni Rou, groggy, snapped back to reality—
A night attack!
She put her hands on the ground, desperately trying to rise, but the fall had been hard. She tried twice and failed to get up.
The figures in front were getting closer.
