Chapter 28 - Chapter 12 The Oddity of Nalan Fusui The Stir in the Shangguan Family_2

Xuanyuan Wuji's roar snapped Nalan Fusui back to reality, his hands trembling uncontrollably as he gently took over the little girl who was dressed in fiery red. At this moment, Doctor Nalan also loathed himself, why be so stubborn? What was so wrong about admitting he was her brother, Shangguan Qingchen? It wasn't as if he would lose out, so why insist until tragedy struck before feeling content? Nalan Fusui was ridden with self-blame, unsure why he always had this vague feeling that a long, long time ago, he had also made an unforgivable mistake due to a misjudgment, a mistake that cost him his entire soul.

"Lang Lang, you mustn't be in trouble, you can't be, brother is begging you." A deeply sorrowful voice suddenly surged from deep within Nalan Fusui, making the doctor uncomfortable as it seemed both like and unlike himself. But he moved swiftly on his feet, carrying Guan Linlang into the observation room at top speed, and then started checking the Empress with the instruments meticulously.

"Strange, all the indicators are normal, so why is there no sign of life? What could have gone wrong?" Nalan Fusui checked Guan Linlang over and over, unable to find any anomalies, and his irritation grew; he made a loud noise as he clanged the instruments around, startling the other doctors and nurses passing by. They truly couldn't understand why the normally calm and composed Nalan was behaving so out of character.

"Doctor Nalan, Third Young Master Li is still waiting for you to check on him," suddenly, a nurse pushed open the door to the observation room, Yu Xiaoli reminding Nalan that Li Mufan was waiting for him to go check on him.

"Get out." Unable to find the real reason for Guan Linlang's coma, Nalan Fusui's emotions spiraled even further out of control; his heart and eyes filled only with the mysterious little girl before him as he roared in response.

The nurse was so frightened by Nalan's shout that her face turned pale, and then she hurried out, not wanting to disturb any further. But still adhering to her professional ethics, she relayed the situation to the duty office so they could arrange another doctor to treat Third Young Master Li.

"Nalan Fusui, calm down, it's alright, don't lose your composure. Check again, she'll be fine, yes, she must be fine." After his outburst, Nalan Fusui knew this approach wasn't helping, and tried to calm himself down before carefully checking Guan Linlang's body again.

Almost as if possessed, Nalan Fusui didn't know why he suddenly lifted the back of Guan Linlang's clothes, and upon seeing the crescent-shaped birthmark identical to the one on his own body, he instinctively reached out to touch it. A strange electric current swept through his entire body, inexplicably bringing odd scenes into his mind.

A young man with an indistinct face lay on the ground covered in blood, clutching half of a broken jade piece, muttering something under his breath. Nalan couldn't make out what he said, but he was certain from the man's lip movements that it was someone's name—a name etched so deep in the man's soul that he dare not forget it or wished to, even in death.

"Could it be that we truly have some connection? Guan Linlang, Lang Lang, I know you can hear me. Please hold on, don't let anything happen to you. If you really think of me as your brother, then listen to me and wake up quickly; stop sleeping, will you?" Nalan was filled with sadness, tidied up Guan Linlang's clothes for her, then gently grasped her hand, staring earnestly at her closed eyes, praying.

Nalan Fusui had been staring intently at Guan Linlang's small face and didn't notice that, as he spoke, the Empress's other little finger had moved slightly.

Nalan Fusui was busily working in the observation room, and the people waiting outside were growing increasingly impatient, particularly Shangguan Zifeng, who was exceptionally anxious. He tried several times to rush into the observation room to see his revered younger sister but was stopped cold by the stone-faced CEO. Xuanyuan Wuji also wanted to go in and check on Guan Linlang, but the CEO knew that at this point, they could only rely on the highly skilled Fusu to help; their presence would only cause interference and chaos.

"What right do you have to stop me? That's my sister lying in there; I have the right to see her!" Shangguan Zifeng protested doggedly.

"What she needs right now is a doctor, not a good-for-nothing brother like you, who can only cause trouble," Xuanyuan Wuji said with disdain.
