Lu Jincheng just watched her, watching as she took steps toward her own career.
In his eyes, there was always a hint of satisfaction, along with a bit of encouragement.
It seemed that no matter what decision Ji Yao made, he would wholeheartedly support her.
Soon, the car arrived at the gala event, and Ji Yao and Lu Jincheng got out, one after the other.
Strangely, the previously proud Lu Jincheng now stepped back, acting as if he were her loyal bodyguard, silent, not stealing her limelight.
"What are you doing...""
Ji Yao felt it odd, turned her head back, and asked again.
Lu Jincheng simply chuckled.
"Today is your big day, I won't steal your thunder. After all, I'm your assistant, your bodyguard, of course, I should stay a step behind you."
His reasoning was sound, and although Ji Yao thought it strange, she couldn't really say much.
Lu Jincheng once again interrupted her thoughts.
"All right, don't think too much about it. The banquet is about to start, let's go in."
