Liu Yue then gave her a consoling look.
Mother Lu looked towards Liu Yue with dissatisfaction at the woman's shrieking and disheveled appearance.
"And who are you, when is it your turn to speak?"
Liu Yue looked utterly righteous.
"No matter who I am, when I see injustice, especially involving my friend, of course, I have to stand up!"
"Friend?"
Mother Lu curled her lips, scoffing, with mockery clearly written on her face.
She turned to Ji Yao.
"Ji Yao, you've really regressed, befriending such a bumpkin. But then again, you never had any background nor substance yourself, you're just like these people."
Liu Yue froze, nearly crying in anger, her face filled with sorrow.
Ji Yao's face turned cold as she stepped forward to intervene.
"Whom I choose to befriend is none of Madam Lu's concern, and I don't believe Liu Yue is a 'bumpkin'. Attacking someone's upbringing is truly a classless act, don't you think so, Madam Lu?"
