Chapter 4 - Chapter 4 Deeply Concealed Talent and Fame_1

The man with glasses twitched at the corner of his mouth, realizing that President Lu liked this kind of thing, which probably hinted at a bit of a masochistic tendency.

After giving a few instructions, the man with glasses made himself scarce.

Ji Yao followed and sat in the back seat, just about to tell Driver Liu to drive, when the man's thin lips parted unexpectedly and he suddenly spoke, "Driver Liu, take a break."

"In the middle of the night, take a break for what..."

Ji Yao watched the driver leave in puzzlement, completely bewildered, turning her head to ask Lu Jincheng what was going on, only to see him staring straight at her like a hunter still in wait, and Ji Yao was the prey.

"What are you going to do..."

Ji Yao wanted to flee, but it was already too late.

The man suddenly closed in on her, pressing her down on the cramped seat, his fierce gaze burning into her, "What am I going to do, of course I'm going to exercise my rights as a husband..."

The trailing voice was crystal clear in her ears.

The man's gentle kisses, brushing against her cheek, the corner of her lips, finally sealing the mouth that parted slightly in surprise.

Ji Yao's mind went blank...

Like a puppet, she let him take and demand as he wished, his tender possession pulling her into the mire, dragging her deeper and deeper...

Until the clothes were lifted at a corner.

Ji Yao suddenly shivered to her senses, her delicate hand bracing against the man's chest, nervously and defensively she said, "No, we can't!"

Lu Jincheng froze in his movements, "How much?"

Ji Yao was bewildered, then abruptly understood his implied message, her hand subconsciously covering her abdomen, "I... I'm not quite... in the right condition."

"Don't lie, your 'visitor' isn't due these days." He pulled aside Ji Yao's bothersome hand, but at that moment the phone rang.

Ding ding dang dang, ding ding dang dang.

At this critical juncture, as annoying as a buzzing fly!

Lu Jincheng glanced at the name flashing on the screen, a trace of displeasure forming between his brows, he reluctantly picked up the phone, pressed mute, and tossed it in the glove compartment.

Ji Yao caught a glimpse; the caller was Ji Zimo.

"Do you always get like this when you drink?" She recalled that night two months ago when he, too, seemed maddened, consuming her to the bone.

Lu Jincheng propped his forehead with the palm of his hand, his tone slightly hoarse, "There was something wrong with that drink."

He spent years in socializing and nightlife, not bragging about a huge capacity, but it was impossible for him to become so restless and agitated after just a couple of drinks, as if a fire was burning in his chest.

With a dry mouth and parched tongue, Lu Jincheng brushed aside the hair at her temples, his fingertips sliding down her jawline to rest in the hollow of her neck.

The tickling sensation made Ji Yao involuntarily shrink her neck.

The man leaned over...

But Ji Yao reached out to pick up the phone and answered the call.

"Jincheng, it's so dark in the hospital, I'm scared... Can you come over and keep me company?"

Through the speakerphone, Ji Zimo's voice trembled, as if the girl on the other end of the line appeared pitifully vulnerable.

The man's actions stiffened, his face quickly darkened.

He slowly sat up, the desire in his eyes fading, replaced only by a boundless deep cold.

His chilling gaze fell on Ji Yao.

Ji Yao also sat up, her legs crossed, feeling like cold water was poured over her from head to toe, she pushed the phone towards him.

"Jincheng?"

Ji Zimo, getting no response on the other end of the line, grew restless and uneasy.

Lu Jincheng took the phone with a darkened face, reverting to his usual indifference, "I'm here."

"Jincheng, where are you..."

At that point, he turned off the speaker and pressed the phone to his ear, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Ji Yao couldn't hear what Ji Zimo said next, but heard Lu Jincheng respond, "I'll be right there."

She leaned on the car door, pushing it open, and tried to force a smile, "I'll take a taxi back myself, remember to reimburse me."

Perhaps because the car was too dark, Lu Jincheng's face looked grim like the King of Hell, with a mocking tone, "You sure are generous."

Eager to shove him off to Ji Zimo, she detested any ties with him!

Did she marry into the Lu Family just for the money?

Ji Yao saw he was in the mood for sarcasm, unsure whether it was the medication not quite effective, or if Ji Zimo's whimpers could fully sober him up.

Her throat felt like it was choked with something, a faint sense of suffocation.

Ji Yao wanted to wish them a pleasant night, but slammed the car door shut, and the man barked, "Old Liu, to the hospital!"

The car sped away, its tail lights twinkling in the night.

Ji Yao slapped her own face; she still needed to muster up the energy to make money, no time to be President Lu's outlet for venting!

Moreover…

She looked down at her flat belly, sighing deeply.

She hoped that before the child was born, her mother could have the surgery she wished for, or else it would be tough to even maintain the child!

In the following days, Ji Yao was either contacting design companies or running to the studio. While there were some deals, the profits were not ideal.

Exhausted, she returned to the Lu Family, contemplating if only President Lu, in a good mood, would lavishly throw money her way…

Stepping through the front door, she heard laughter and cheerful chatter.

Moving from the entrance hall to the living room, she saw President Lu's mother pruning Eucalyptus branches, saying to the woman beside her, "You should have come back to live a long time ago. It's so inconvenient for you with a child in the hospital. Zimo, just pick any room, I'll have it cleaned for you. Stay here peacefully, think of it as your own home."

Ji Zimo…

She had actually been welcomed into the inner chambers?!

Ji Yao handed her bag to the maid, slowly moving forward like a curious baby.

She stared at Ji Zimo, again and again, "Mom, why is she here?"

President Lu's mother and Ji Zimo certainly noticed Ji Yao's arrival.

Ji Zimo displayed a hint of barely noticeable contempt, while President Lu's mother stretched her Botox-filled face, "How many times do I have to tell you, do not call me mom, I am not your mom!"

She had always looked down on Ji Yao, a mere bastard, unworthy of their high society, not fit to be with her son.

If it hadn't been for Ji Zimo studying abroad, this wild girl would never have set foot in the Lu Family's house!

Ji Yao felt neither pain nor tickle, what President Lu's mother felt was not important. Having signed the agreement, becoming Lu Jincheng's wife, she had to act in accordance with the contract.

Ji Zimo reveled in schadenfreude but complied with President Lu's mother, "Auntie, don't mind Xiao Yao. That's just how she is, forgetful."

Having said that, as if to mediate, she changed the subject, "You mentioned choosing a room earlier? I think the one on the second floor facing east is nice. Jincheng and I used to play house there when we were kids."

The second floor facing east?

Wasn't that Ji Yao's bedroom?

The day she entered the Lu Family with her marriage certificate, Lu Jincheng had her stay there, and in a blink, three years had passed.

President Lu's mother was momentarily taken aback but immediately instructed the maids, "Go, pack her things, clear the room, for Zimo."

Ji Zimo "appeared utterly surprised", "Is Xiao Yao living there? Auntie, no need, I'm fine with any room…"

How could President Lu's mother let Ji Zimo live a mere satisfactory life in the Lu Family, "Zimo, why pity her? You're pregnant. Even if you won't take care of yourself, you must think of the fetus in your womb."

Seemingly concerned that Ji Yao might be reluctant, President Lu's mother arranged the Eucalyptus in a vase and arrogantly lifted her chin, "I'll personally arrange it for you, it's more assuring."
