"I didn't mean it like that."
Pei Zhiyao lowered his head, trying to dodge Lai Weiwei's questioning.
But he knew better than anyone what those words of his really meant.
Facing Lai Weiwei's interrogation, Pei Zhiyao felt as though he was exposed, yet unwilling to admit it.
"It's better to talk about our matters separately, inviting Wen Mian over is not convenient."
"What's so inconvenient about it?"
Lai Weiwei, usually good-natured, furrowed her eyebrows at this point.
Her sharp and arrogant demeanor made Pei Zhiyao feel estranged.
He took a deep breath, unsure of how to respond, and also because of Lai Weiwei's words, Pei Zhiyao's mood had suddenly worsened a great deal.
"Our marriage hasn't even been discussed formally yet, right now we're just getting to know each other temporarily, can't we talk about this later?"
He smiled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes.
This made Lai Weiwei, who was already angry, feel even more frustrated.
