Before he left work in the evening, Lu Han asked Tang Su what she wanted to eat. Tang Su told him to come straight home, where she was showing off her cooking skills by preparing a table of home-cooked dishes.
Minding not to waste or be extravagant, Tang Su made three dishes and one soup for the two of them.
The three dishes included two meat options and one vegetable.
All of them were perfect with rice: stir-fried pork with garlic sauce, Kung Pao chicken, and sautéed seasonal vegetables. The soup was carp tofu soup.
There was also a dessert with rice—golden sweet corn.
They had meat, chicken, fish, and vegetables, a feast for the eyes as much as for the palate.
As soon as Lu Han pushed open the door to Tang Su's home, he was greeted by a delicious aroma.
He instantly felt that if he could live like this for the rest of his life, with a wife at home preparing hot meals for him, coming home would no longer mean returning to an empty space.
