Tang Su held her breath, daring not to respond. She tiptoed to the back of the door; the doorbell had stopped ringing, the person outside had switched from ringing the bell to knocking instead.
Just as Tang Su tiptoed to peek through the peephole, the panel vibrated due to the knocking from the other side, sending tremors straight to Tang Su's heart, thud thud thud. Tang Su clutched her chest, and for a second, she felt her heart might leap out.
Through the peephole, Tang Su recognized the person outside as Sister Cai from their community's property management. Seeing no one respond, Sister Cai finally gave up, turned around, and went to knock on Tang Su's door.
"Little Tang, Little Tang, are you there? Little Tang—"
Now, Tang Su dared even less to make a sound, only pretending to be dead.
However, the only response Sister Cai received from Tang Su's home was the pitiful meowing of Douding. Both its male and female owners ignored it. Was it being abandoned?
