Lu Xiu raised his gaze, a shadow falling beneath his eyes, a smile playing at the corner of his mouth as he reached out to touch the girl's black hair.
Su Qing nestled in bed, instinctively leaning towards Lu Xiu's side. The man skillfully pulled her into his arms, his heart softening at the sound of her steady breaths.
In the long night, tenderness filled the air, and the tranquil darkness dissolved into nothingness.
... The sun had been intense for the past few days, yet it lacked the harshness of summer, carrying a sense of softness.
In her half-asleep state, she faintly heard noises around her, furrowing her brows and softly grunting.
Blinking her eyes, the sunlight shone on her fair face, her pores invisible. Feeling the sunlight, she turned around and snuggled into Lu Xiu's embrace.
She remained in this peaceful state for an unknown period before Su Qing woke up. Lu Xiu was still asleep, and she lay on his arm, a faint scent lingering in the air, unable to identify its source.
Lu Xiu's long lashes twitched, subconsciously tightening his embrace around the girl.
"Sleep a little longer," his voice carried the hoarseness of early morning.
Su Qing hadn't slept well the previous night, probably due to the change in environment. But during the times when she couldn't sleep, Lu Xiu hadn't slept either, constantly comforting and patting her back until she fell asleep.
Until she fell asleep...
Su Qing couldn't sleep, reaching out her fair hand to draw circles on his face.
Suddenly, he grabbed her hand, and Su Qing blinked, her heart skipping a beat.
Lu Xiu's skin was very fair, almost described as cold white. Seeing his parents yesterday, she understood why this man was so handsome; he had inherited all the good qualities from his parents.
"Can't sleep?" Lu Xiu's voice carried a penetrating quality, involuntarily weaving a melody.
Su Qing shook her head slightly, snuggling into Lu Xiu's arms. "What time is it?"
"Ten o'clock."
Hearing the time, Su Qing pulled herself up from the bed, dragging Lu Xiu with her.
Downstairs, Lu Xiu's parents were nowhere to be seen, probably still asleep. Su Qing planned to wait for them downstairs and tell herself that she was leaving.
Before she could sit down, Lu Xiu took her waist. "Let's go."
Su Qing hadn't reacted yet, looking back, "Don't you want to tell them?"
"No need, we'll text them."
He smiled and pulled the girl into his arms, not stopping his steps. Watching her look back repeatedly, he half-pushed and half-pulled her into the car.
It wasn't until they got back home that Su Qing felt everything was surreal. She had never dared to imagine meeting Lu Xiu's parents before.
So unreal...
... Chinese New Year.
Lu Xiu was busy with work. Sometimes, when he came back at night, Su Qing was already asleep, and she also woke up early in the morning, resulting in them not seeing each other for several days in a week.
Su Qing looked at the group messages from her company, all discussing problems the company was facing, not knowing when they would be resolved.
Many holidays were over, and work resumed, which made Su Qing a bit anxious. But she always couldn't find a suitable job.
Her eyes stared at the resumes on the computer, not noticing the man beside her. A shadow fell on her head, and she remained focused on the computer.
Until the man laughed, she looked up and saw Lu Xiu, speaking with a slightly coquettish tone, "Why are you back so early today?"
Lu Xiu rubbed her head and said, "I'll take a shower first."
"Okay," Su Qing responded. Her gaze returned to the computer. He showered quickly, and the air was filled with the scent of lemon. He lifted the corner of the blanket and pulled Su Qing into his arms, lifting her eyelids and seeing her focus still on the computer. "Still looking for a job?"
Su Qing pressed the spacebar and nodded.
Before getting back together with Lu Xiu, she hadn't thought her job was bad. On the contrary, she felt it was already good for someone like her to get such a job. Now she felt she had to work harder to be worthy of him. Even though she hadn't been to college, she had read a lot of books, and her knowledge even exceeded that of many people.
Upon hearing this, he moved his body from the front to behind Su Qing, then kissed her neck, and his hands covered hers. "I told you, I'll support you. Are you still worried that I can't afford it?"
There was a hint of helplessness in his tone.
"I don't want that. It's different." Su Qing knew she was stubborn, but she didn't want to dwell on this matter. "Then come to work at my company. Is that okay?"
The fragrance of the woman's body lingered around his nose.
Su Qing shook her head, hooked his finger, and said again, "Isn't that using connections? It's not fair to others. Besides, can I meet the employment requirements of your company?"
"Don't worry, there will be suitable positions. My wife is so excellent; do I still need to pull strings?"
He typed his company's name on the computer, and several job requirements immediately appeared on the screen.
Su Qing knew little about his company, but seeing the company name he typed—Anyu—she wasn't unfamiliar with it. She had seen him invest in a TV series a few months ago.
"I can't do it." She implied a rebuttal. She dared not imagine working for these companies.
"Take a look?"
The job of manager assistant was recruiting, clearly stating that it required a high school diploma or above. She turned her head to look at Lu Xiu. Wasn't everything a bit too coincidental? She couldn't imagine it. "Is it true?" she bit her lip, hesitatingly said.
Lu Xiu rubbed her head. "Of course! Isn't it written up there? Do you still doubt it?"
"Then can I go for an interview tomorrow?"
She hesitated for a few seconds, pulled the blanket, her confidence somewhat lacking, and said again, "Then you can't tell them about our relationship."
"Didn't they see your picture online? Do you think they're fools?"
"They won't recognize me." Su Qing had seen the picture of herself taken. Due to the angle, her full face wasn't captured. She was sure they wouldn't recognize her.
Lu Xiu chuckled lightly, hands stroking her face. The two remained quiet. His voice was low. "Am I ashamed of you?"
"No." She said seriously.
There was a hint of ambiguity in the air. He leaned a bit closer. "Shouldn't we get to business?"
"No." The man sounded dissatisfied. "It's been a while."
After hearing this, her face blushed slightly, and she pushed him. "I'm tired. Spare me."
Lu Xiu's lips curled up, and his hand probed at the hem of her clothes. "Why didn't you say that just now?"
"I'm sleepy now," she said as she buried her head under the covers, her eyes fixed on Lu Xiu.
Lu Xiu pinched her cheek, ignoring whatever the girl was saying.
