Bella Swan stood beside her brother. Observing her, Bellamy could tell something was amiss. "Hey, do I smell bad?" she suddenly asked him.
Bellamy scrutinized Bella carefully. "No, you don't smell," he reassured her. "Is everything alright?"
"It's just that when I sat down next to Edward, he covered his nose as if something stank," she explained.
Bellamy's brow furrowed with concern. "Perhaps there's another issue bothering him. Try not to worry about it too much," he consoled Bella.
Determined to divert her attention from the vampire—after all, he was not human and she was—Bellamy took his sister's hand and they walked to the office to submit their slips.
As they made their way to the office, Bellamy pointed out a humorous poster on the wall, attempting to lift the mood and coax a smile from Bella. He recounted a silly joke he had heard earlier in the day, eliciting a chuckle from Bella and allowing her to momentarily forget her strange encounter with Edward.
But just like that her mind was back on the teenage vampire when they walked in and saw him at the office counter. Bellamy could sense her unease and quickly stepped in, initiating a conversation with the office clerk. Bella stood quietly by his side, her eyes darting back and forth between Bellamy and Edward. After completing their business, they turned to leave and Bella hesitated, unsure of what to do. But Bellamy, being the protective younger brother that he was, took her by the hand and led her out of the office, making sure to keep her away from Edward. As they walked back to their car, Bellamy could see the relief in Bella's eyes. He knew that she was still curious and intrigued by the mysterious vampire, but he also knew that for now, it was best to keep her away and let her focus on other things. He made a mental note to keep an eye on her and make sure she didn't get too caught up in the world of vampires and werewolves. After all, she was just a human girl, and he would do anything to protect her from harm. As they drove home, Bella couldn't help but feel grateful for her brother's presence and support. She knew that with him by her side, she could face any challenge, whether it be navigating the complexities of high school or dealing with supernatural beings. As they pulled into their driveway, she couldn't help but smile, grateful for the bond she shared with her brother and the love and protection he provided. At home, Bellamy could hear her in her room, on the phone with her mother—the woman who was not his. He thought of ways to corner their father; he was determined to find out who his mom was, one way or another.
He sat with the light off in the living room. Bella had already gone to bed, and it was late. He heard his father's car pull up and his muttering about Bellamy and why he suddenly wanted to know.
When the door opened, his father turned on the light and jumped.
"Tell me who she is, Dad," Bellamy said. "It's not like I'll go looking; I just want to know."
"Her name is Rachel Moss," he said. "I met her when she moved to the area. As a cop, I was called to a location, and when I got there, I was drugged, and then you appeared. A DNA test confirmed you were mine."
" is there anything else?"
