There was another psychiatric hospital around five miles from the Shadowcreek Asylum. It was larger and boasted a higher capacity of beds and more luxurious facilities.
Those with money usually opted to go to this more extravagant hospital.
That being said, Julian, who just recently graduated from a scholarship-funded PhD program and had yet to receive his first salary fit very well with the group of penniless patients who frequented the Shadowcreek Asylum.
