Chapter 27 - New spells

After thinking about Jenny, I picked up a book that Artemus had given me a few days ago to study. As soon as I opened it, a wave of knowledge flooded into my brain. Confused, I said, "What just happened? I suddenly know so much about magic precision."

"I was able to take in all of the information for you, Master," Myne said.

I was amazed. Myne was incredible, capable of absorbing vast amounts of information in seconds—something that would have taken me three days or more to learn on my own. She truly was an incredible gift.

I nodded and said, "Oh, I see then."

With a full understanding of the book and its contents, I got out of bed and extended my hand forward. "Radiant beam!" I shouted.

A strong surge of pure whitish-yellow energy, swirling like a tornado, shot out from my hand and hit my room's wall, destroying it. I moved closer to inspect the damage and saw that the beam had gone straight through twelve walls.

"How powerful," I muttered.

The book had indeed helped, as I now had better control and precision with my spells.

Continuing, I left the room as the walls were repairing themselves.

Once outside, I decided to sneak into the room where the most valuable treasures were kept in cases. I had asked Artemus several weeks ago about going there, but he continuously refused, saying I wasn't ready for the weapons.

I might seem impatient, but I'm just so drawn to that room. It gives me goosebumps.

I tried to open the door, but it was locked. "Myne, can you do something about this?" I asked.

"Yes, I am programmed to do many things, and this is a simple task. However, Artemus has stated that you must not enter," said Myne.

"What? Come on, Myne, whose side are you on? I'm your master. You're connected to my soul, not Artemus's," I argued.

"…." Myne was silent for a moment.

"Understood, master," Myne finally said, and suddenly the door opened.

Myne was amazing. The door wasn't powered with simple magic; it seemed to be some kind of advanced magic.

Entering the room, I noticed there were even more treasures in the cases than last time. Swords, bows, staffs, grimoires, double swords, technique books, and more.

As I walked around, I spotted a case with a hair bow inside, sparkling with purplish glitter. It felt like it was calling to me. I moved closer until my face was almost touching the case.

My eyes sparkled, and it felt like my heart was opening up. Suddenly, everything came to an abrupt stop when I heard a voice.

"Didn't I tell you you're not allowed in here, Giselle?" asked Artemus.

Turning around quickly, I faced Artemus, who was levitating in the air with an angry expression. Despite his anger, he looked even cuter as a cute bunny.

"I just can't resist coming in here, plus I like this hairbow. I feel close to it," I said.

"Enough, Giselle. You've disobeyed me, and you should know that anything could've happened to you," said Artemus.

"Like what, when you're the guardian of this realm?" I asked.

"Tch, you abused the power of the system to get what you want. For this reason, you will have to learn three new spells by the end of the day, no matter what, or I'll shut down the system and send you back to ivory," said Artemus.

"What? You—" I began angrily.

"Fine," I said, starting to walk out of the room. I stopped and added, "Oh, and Artemus, my system's name is Myne. Please address her by her name from now on."

I then continued walking out. Artemus shook his head and went back to what he was doing, closing the treasure room door behind him.

"Tch, man, I was so close," I muttered as I stormed back to my room.

"Forgive me, master. I am too weak to avoid Artemus's perception," said Myne.

"It's not your fault," I reassured her.

As I continued, I suddenly ran into Cally, who was holding what looked like a grimoire. "Hello, Giselle. Master Artemus instructed me to give you this grimoire to learn three wind spells by the end of the day," she said.

"What? But he hardly taught me wind magic! Not even hardly—he didn't teach me at all yet, and he expects me to learn three spells from an element I know nothing of? Tch, fine," I said, taking the grimoire.

Cally then went off. I was furious. He didn't even tell me why I shouldn't enter that room, and now he's punishing me by making me learn an element I know nothing about, which he was supposed to teach me.

"That damn rabbit. Ugh," I muttered, frustration seeping through my words.

I made my way to the training room, determined to master the three wind spells Artemus had tasked me with. As I entered, I took a deep breath, trying to shake off my annoyance. The training room was spacious, with high ceilings and walls that seemed to absorb sound, creating a tranquil environment perfect for focus and practice.

I sat down on a mat in the center of the room and opened the grimoire. The pages felt old and slightly rough under my fingertips, but the text was clear and legible. I began reading about wind magic, and the words seemed to come alive as Myne's presence in my mind helped me absorb the knowledge instantly.

The grimoire explained that wind magic manipulates air and wind to achieve various effects. Wind magic is often associated with elements like air, sky, and weather, and may involve incantations, gestures, or rituals to harness and direct the wind's energy. With Myne's assistance, I felt like I was getting a personal lecture from a seasoned mage.

"Wind magic can be subtle and powerful, capable of gentle breezes or destructive storms," Myne's voice echoed in my mind, summarizing the essence of what I had read.

I flipped through the pages, looking for a spell that seemed manageable for a beginner. Finally, I found one:

Breeze Summon: A spell to summon a gentle breeze for cooling.

"Alright, let's start with this," I thought. Myne provided additional context, detailing how to focus my mana and visualize the air currents.

Standing up, I positioned myself in the middle of the room, legs slightly apart to ground myself. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and began to concentrate my mana. I envisioned a gentle breeze swirling around me, like a playful dance of air currents. I could almost feel the soft caress of the wind against my skin.

"Breeze summon!" I said aloud, my voice steady and confident.

At first, there was nothing. Then, gradually, I felt a slight stirring of air around me. It was faint, but it was there—a gentle breeze circling me, cooling my skin. I opened my eyes and smiled, feeling a small sense of accomplishment.

"Well done, master," Myne said. "The first spell is always the hardest. Now that you have felt the wind's response, the next spells will come more naturally."

Encouraged, I continued to practice. I repeated the incantation several times, each time feeling the breeze grow slightly stronger and more consistent. The sensation of the air moving in response to my command was exhilarating.

After a while, I felt confident enough to move on to a more advanced spell. Flipping through the grimoire, I found another spell:

Gale Force: A spell to summon strong, gusty winds capable of pushing objects or enemies away.

This one seemed significantly more challenging, but I was determined. With Myne's guidance, I prepared myself once again, focusing my mana and visualizing a powerful gust of wind.

As I practiced, I could feel my connection to the wind deepening, the air responding more eagerly to my commands. Hours passed, and by the end of the day, I had not only mastered Breeze Summon but also managed to create a decent Gale Force wind.

Exhausted but satisfied, I sat back down on the mat, wiping the sweat from my forehead. "I did it, Myne," I said, feeling a sense of pride.

"You did, master. One more spell to go, and you'll have fulfilled Artemus's challenge," Myne replied.

I took a moment to rest, thinking about how far I had come. Despite the frustration and challenges, I was growing stronger every day, and with Myne by my side, I knew I could face whatever came next.

Continuing for another one and a half hours, I delved deeper into the grimoire, searching for the final spell I needed to learn. The training room had grown quiet and serene, the only sounds being the rustle of pages and my occasional mutterings as I practiced the incantations.

I came across a spell that immediately caught my attention:

Wind Slash: Create a sharp gust of wind to cut through objects.

This spell seemed both powerful and precise, requiring not just a strong command of wind magic but also a keen sense of control. I felt a surge of excitement mixed with trepidation. This was the type of spell that could be incredibly useful in combat, but it also demanded a lot from the caster.

Taking a deep breath, I stood up once more and positioned myself in the center of the room. The air felt different now, more charged, as if it was aware of the challenge ahead. Myne's voice echoed softly in my mind, offering guidance and support.

"Master, focus your mana into a thin, concentrated line. Visualize the wind forming into a sharp edge, like a blade," Myne instructed.

I closed my eyes and concentrated, gathering my mana and directing it into a single point. I imagined the wind transforming into a razor-sharp blade, ready to cut through anything in its path. My hands moved instinctively, tracing the shape of the spell in the air.

"Wind Slash!" I shouted, releasing the built-up energy.

A powerful, slicing gust of wind shot forward from my outstretched hand. It moved swiftly, almost invisibly, and struck a wooden training dummy across the room. The wind blade cut through the dummy with a clean, precise slash, leaving a sharp, diagonal line where it had passed.

My eyes widened in amazement. "Wow," I whispered, stepping closer to inspect the damage. The cut was clean and smooth, a testament to the spell's precision and my newfound control over wind magic.

"Excellent work, master," Myne said, her voice filled with pride. "You have successfully learned the Wind Slash spell. Your progress is remarkable."

I practiced the spell several more times, each attempt becoming smoother and more controlled. The training room now bore the marks of my practice—sliced dummies, torn mats, and the occasional gust of wind still lingering in the air.

As the last hour and a half passed, I felt a deep sense of accomplishment. I had met Artemus's challenge head-on and succeeded. I could hardly believe how much I had learned and grown in such a short time.

Finally, I sat down on the floor, exhausted but exhilarated. "I did it, Myne. I mastered all three spells," I said, a smile spreading across my face.

"You did, master. Your determination and hard work have paid off. Artemus will be pleased," Myne replied warmly.

I took a moment to rest, lying back on the cool floor of the training room. The journey had been tough, but I had proven to myself that I could handle anything that came my way. With Myne by my side, I felt ready to take on even greater challenges.

"Thank you, Myne," I said softly, feeling a deep sense of gratitude for my system's unwavering support and guidance.

"Always here for you, master," Myne responded.

As I laid there, catching my breath, I couldn't wait to see artemus's reaction to me completing his challenge.

"I can't wait to see that know-it-all bunny's face hehehehe," I muttered while smirking.
