Date Wataru selects his personal toiletries.
Because he knows he's going out, he dresses in casual clothes instead of the uniform of a police cadet, and because of his large body and mature looks, he makes passersby shy away from him when he walks down the street.
Even at the convenience store, customers will silently stay away for a few minutes, subconsciously choosing not to stand in front of the same shelves as Date Wataru.
This is the downside of not wearing a uniform.
Date Wataru was used to it and didn't think anything of it. She just looked down and cruised through the various shampoos, picking out one with a nice color and a familiar brand name, and was just about to put it in her basket to go to the front desk to pay for it when she heard footsteps coming in a hurry.
The footsteps were really fast, but really light, and almost as soon as Date Wataru heard them, she felt a gust of wind coming towards her.
'Someone's attacking'.
He judged subconsciously, and without thinking, he tried to resist.
The person who came seemed to be familiar with a more systematic fighting technique, and easily avoided the horizontal strike of the arm, grabbed Date Wataru by the shoulders, and greeted him with, "What a coincidence, Date-san."
It was Ichijō Mirai's voice.
Along with the voice, there was also a cold wind that was still lingering.
It was as if the visitor was in too much of a hurry, so the corners of his hair and clothes were swaying.
Date Wataru was stunned, and removed his strength, "Mirai-san?"
He saw Ichijō Mirai's bright smile and wondered.
Of course, he wasn't wondering why Ichijō Mirai was outside the police academy.
From the beginning, Ichijō Mirai had never been a well-behaved police cadet, but rather a somewhat careless, unruly and unrestrained sun.
The question is, "You wanted to see me?"
If Ichijō Mirai had said, "What a coincidence, Date-san." before Disguised Criminal, Date Wataru would have recognized it as such.
Even during the training, Ichijō Mirai was in control of the whole situation, holding everyone up in the palm of his hand and watching everyone's status with his eyes down, always finding out just the right person who needed help and arranging the optimal solution just the right way.
But after Disguised Criminal, after seeing Ichijō Mirai maintain his identity as a criminal, but get along like a fish out of water in Tokyo, and have the strength to reach out and drag up all the police cadets, placing each piece in just the right place, Date Wataru is certain that it's not a coincidence.
Even the last few cadets who were injured and greeted with the bright flashes of the media, were either from extremely difficult families, or were almost alone and desperate to make a name for themselves.
Each of these 'coincidences' is what Ichijō Mirai was trying to do.
...Such a person is actually quite dangerous.
If it wasn't Ichijō Mirai, or some other criminal, all the police in Tokyo would be standing by.
But it was Ichijō Mirai, the 'sunny Savior', who had a balance in his heart, and both sides were filled with how to help others.
Most police cadets would never doubt Ichijō Mirai even if they doubted themselves.
It's all right then.
"What an unhesitating reaction, as if it could never be a coincidence," Ichijō Mirai decried, "Thinking I'm too scary?"
He told the truth: "Matsuda-san and his classmates heard that you had a girlfriend, and they were so shocked that they decided to hunt you down on the spot, and I had to run away from them to give you a message," he said.
"Let's run?"
Date Wataru: "..."
He looked at Ichijō Mirai's serious expression and simply translated, "Matsuda-san they're after you?"
"What did you do?"
It's not easy.
"I don't know why," Ichijō Mirai explained honestly, "I just greeted them warmly, but Matsuda-san seemed to be so shy and scared that he didn't dare to let his name be known, and nervously asked me not to call him by his first name, and even got angry."
Don't let people call you by your name?
Is that a special case of breaking the rules or something?
Date Wataru thought for a moment, looked at the convenience store, then at Ichijō Mirai in front of him, and had a bad feeling, "...you called Matsuda-san by his name when you were going over the wall?"
"There was an instructor there?"
Ichijō Mirai immediately complimented, "Date-san is so smart,"
He added, "But the instructor didn't come over, he saw Matsuda-san in the tree from a distance and turned away."
That's very smart, but it's a shame.
Date Wataru: "..."
"Were Furuya-san and the others there?"
If they were, he understood why the instructor had turned his back on them.
When one cadet who was close to Ichijō Mirai was in the vicinity, the probability of Ichijō Mirai randomly appearing in the vicinity was 10%, when two cadets who were close to Ichijō Mirai were in the vicinity, the chance of a random appearance was 20%, three was 50%, four was 80%, and five was almost 100%.
The instructor, of course, left immediately.
Ichijō Mirai nodded as if he didn't hear the implication, "Yes, they're all here except you."
He glanced absently sideways at the transparent glass wall of the convenience store, and saw the gray street outside, as well as a few men panting to catch up, "Ah, they're coming after us."
Indeed they are.
Matsuda Jinpei and the others had prepared in advance by changing into civilian clothes while they were on guard duty, and at the moment they appeared to be just a few ordinary college students, or college students suspected of being storm troopers, panting, but rushing into the convenience store with a murderous spirit.
The customers of the convenience store looked over.
As the murderous aura diminished, Matsuda Jinpei and the others spontaneously spread out and split up, flowing into the aisles to search the store.
Morofushi Hiromitsu stayed at the door, tentatively calling out names, "Mirai-san, Date-san?"
Ichijō Mirai didn't change his face, and took Date Wataru by the hand, taking two steps around the shelves, easily avoiding the spreading search circle.
He calmly reassured Date Wataru, "Don't worry, Matsuda-san, they won't beat us up on the spot, it's a convenience store."
"Besides, I'm wearing a police academy uniform, if someone else takes a picture of me, it'll be a scandal if a police academy student is bullied by the general public."
"It won't disturb our conversation."
The 'we' of speaking tricks.
Date Wataru continued: "..."
He watched as Ichijō Mirai smiled as if nothing had happened and went on, "Dear Date-san, you joined the police academy..."
And then suddenly stops, the relaxed and stretched out eyebrows suddenly become stern, the red eyes move slightly, the pupils narrowed for a few minutes, there is a creepy sign that they are about to stand up, but in a split second it returns to its original state, his eyes are fixed on a certain place outside the convenience store, and he whistles carelessly, "Wow."
He smiled at Date Wataru again as if he saw something, "Your plot point seems to have appeared."
