James: "Huh, that's Adele..."
He was sitting in a coffee shop, staring out the window, looking at the Black Swan lady in front of the theater, a little surprised, "The star Adele likes?"
Adele is one of their colleagues, thanks to the blessing of 'Satan', the same promotion, can lead a few FBI investigators to form a crime solving team, the appearance of rude, looks very bad, often make ordinary people feel afraid, even if not shot out of the identity of the FBI, just walk on the road, the passers-by have to consciously avoid.
Therefore, the age has been relatively old, but do not plan to find a girlfriend to get married, usually prefer not to be afraid of their own women, including a star called Adele.
"Adele was in charge of a case, the scene of the crime was on the set," James explains for Akai Shūichi, "At that time Adele was the female lead and was questioned by him, and was suspected of being the murderer because she didn't show any fear from start to finish, but after the misunderstanding was cleared up Adele liked her a little bit, and took her to the movie theater to contribute to the movie tickets for a couple of shows."
"You don't pay attention to this aspect may not be too clear."
He thought for a moment, and it came to him, "Ah yes, you must have heard of Sharon!"
"She's very famous, even people who don't follow movie stars can hear her name in various channels, just last year, Adele and Sharon competed together for the best actress."
"Although she lost, but, ahem, Sharon is too attractive, Adele's performance was already very good, can't blame her entirely, only to say it's a pity, but earlier, before Sharon appeared, she could have won the award for sure, now it's just..."
Akai Shūichi looked over and caught a glimpse of the lady who looked like a black swan, he narrowed his eyes a bit, "Why is she here?"
Is it the first victim?
The FBI only knew that the first victim was a woman, and that there were three types of people: a woman in the spotlight, a man disguised as a woman, and a man disguised as a woman.
Since there are fewer people traveling at night than during the day, and even fewer women, FBI investigators can breathe a little easier.
"I think they're out for fun?" James wasn't sure. "I'll ask Adele. He's practically a number one fan. He's been following Adele's latest news."
As he sent the message, he hesitated, "I don't think it's the victim, is it?"
"The first card says 'off at 4', so it's probably a night worker."
Is that so?
It's unlikely, but the 'owner' is a guy with a bad personality and a bad taste, so he might be able to turn the gears of the case without moving and adjust some tricks.
Akai Shūichi didn't comment, he quietly listened to the sound of James' cell phone.
The sound was clear, James was pressing the buttons on his cell phone and muttering the English sentences he was typing to himself.
In the middle of the conversation, there was a very faint whirring sound, as if the signal was unstable for a moment, but it was so faint that even a vigilant FBI investigator could easily ignore it.
Akai Shūichi did not change his expression.
His hand under the seat moved gently, and as the dim light of the cell phone's screen was blocked by his leg, a blind-typed message was sent out: [Locking in the progress of the listening signal.]
A few moments later, the phone flicked, and Akai Shūichi, without moving, tilted the screen a little, and saw the reply: [Within 100 meters of James in a straight line, on the top...]
[Trying to listen in...]
Akai Shūichi re-dropped the phone as he looked over to the Black Swan lady and sent another message: [Don't spook the snake.]
Probably concerned with the fact that there were a lot of people in the vicinity of Times Square and that she might be recognized, Ms. Black Swan didn't stay on the street for long and soon left with the gentleman's arm around her.
They stepped into an alley familiarly, and seemed to know their way around the neighborhood well.
"It's not even midnight yet," James relaxed, "it's not her."
After a few moments, he added: "Adele wrote back, oh, oh, oh, Adele is filming a movie, the crew borrowed a theater nearby to shoot live action, she has been around Times Square for a while now."
"So it's a movie, that's weird."
"Lately," Akai Shūichi focused on the other people on the street while vaguely adjusting his perspective to gaze at the nearby high-rise buildings, and caught the point, "Will it be a nighttime shoot?"
James hesitated, "I'll ask again."
A few moments later, he replied, "Night shoots are frequent, often at two or three o'clock, and I've heard that several times they've had to stop until dawn."
Akai Shūichi repeated the key word: "Two or three o'clock."
"I'll send someone to follow her from a distance," James said at once, "If she's the victim, it's a disaster."
This is a star.
Whether or not she's killed, 'targeted by the real serial killer' is a call to arms.
And he's making a movie!
James didn't have to think very hard, just a little bit of Adele's Hollywood savvy, and he was able to conjure up a future in which the FBI would be in the dark: 'The cast and crew are making a big deal out of the movie.
'The cast and crew hyped up the near-death of the lead actor during filming, making it a well-publicized sob story during the awards, and trying to work out a couple of best-of-the-best awards.'
The FBI and the police must have played a very important role in this: the scolds.
Akai Shūichi: "Uh-huh."
The cell phone vibrated slightly again, and his eyes dropped down to see a somewhat ecstatic message: [Anti-surveillance successful!]
[Connecting for your headset, Mr. Akai?!]
[Connecting,] Akai Shūichi raised his eyes, his expression unchanged, still the same careful eyes that cautiously watched the crowd on the street, [Inform Jodie.]
A few seconds later, he heard a rustle of unstable and adjusting currents coming from the headset in his left ear.
The rustling comes and goes, and lasts for a moment before stabilizing, with the sound of wind coming from high above, whistling shrilly as it whips past the source of the sound.
Faintly, the sounds of human activity and the honking of vehicles overlapped with the ground sounds that Akai Shūichi had heard in his right ear.
But there were no close human voices.
The listener did not speak.
"Do you think," Akai Shūichi said, "that she is the victim?"
He was talking nonsense, "If she's a victim, then Jodie's going to have to think ahead about how to silence public opinion."
James didn't hear it, but laughed out loud, "She already knows how to press public opinion, press public opinion of the manhunt operation probably killed your heart,"
And some heavy, "but this time you have to face some public opinion veterans, face some hateful wolves."
In addition to James, another complete stranger, very young, with a gentle, smiling voice replied, "I guess so."
He greeted slowly: "Good evening, Mr. Akai."
