Chapter 183 - Racer

Jodie received a photo.

It's a photo of Ichijō Mirai talking to a blonde woman, and you can clearly see the facial features of both parties in the photo.

Unlike Japanese cell phones, New York cell phones can turn off the flash and click when taking pictures, so it's easier to sneak around.

But there's no hiding the murderous streak that police officers have for criminals, and in the photo, the blonde woman looks a little shaken and pathetic with her eyes downcast, while Ichijō Mirai smiles and glances over to meet the photographer's gaze.

His smile was obviously very polite, just like in the flame photo, the arc of the smile should not be much different, but perhaps because this time his whole face was shown, or perhaps because he was looking into the camera, it looked inexplicably bright and provocative.

The photo was frozen, but Jodie could see Ichijō Mirai's mouth opening provocatively with the words: Catch me if you can.

No law enforcement officer would tolerate such provocation.

The photographer had not entered the country, but Jodie could already see Akai Shūichi taking the picture, sending out the report, and then striking with determination.

She: "..."

Along with the photo came a short message: [Midtown West, Manhattan.]

This is the location of the cafe.

"Emergency situation," Jodie forwarded the message to all present at the meeting and to the FBI agents who had gone to the restaurant to identify the vehicle, and who should still be in the neighborhood, "temporarily cancel the meeting."

"Prepare for arrest!"

After a pause, she forwarded the message to a colleague, and briefly sent over a reminder: [Mr. Akai found the criminal who left the mark on the newspaper, and is now in the process of pursuing him, what are the results of the autopsy on your end?]

Mr. Akai, who was in charge of the serial murder case that corresponded to the mark on the newspaper, saw the mark on the newspaper, pondered for a moment, and then rushed to take over the newspaper case and merged it into his own serial murder case.

The body is still being re-examined by the FBI.

The other party quickly replied: [The autopsy is not yet finished.]

[Akai?]

[Can we participate in the hunt?]

Although because of Akai Shūichi, the inquiry was somewhat related to the fact that 'Akai was the one who chased the man, so he'll definitely be caught! Can I take some credit for it? But the original meaning of the sentence was that the criminal was somehow related to us, so we could help.

Jodie's intention was to do just that, and with a broadening of her brow, she replied: [Sure, James.]

She glanced around the already empty conference room, and while sending another mass message alerting all personnel to the comms, she headed for the control room and edited another message to James: ['Master' current location is midtown Manhattan].

Before he could finish editing the message, his cell phone vibrated, and a preview of the new message appeared at the top of the screen: [Times Square...].

It was Akai Shūichi who reported the location.

...When you're chasing someone, you have the energy to report your location?

If he was chasing a common criminal, it would be fine, but Akai Shūichi was chasing his 'master'.

Jodie narrowed her eyes and forwarded the location information to everyone involved.

The FBI, who were rushing to the scene, immediately adjusted their destination.

But soon: [Downtown.]

The fbi changed their destination.

[Little Italy]

The fbi picked up speed.

[FIDI.]

The FBI was already in Lowertown, some spread out in case the criminals returned, some continuing on to their destination.

[Brooklyn Bridge]

Location message after location message is coming in.

The Brooklyn Bridge, located on the edge of Manhattan, is connected to Brooklyn, and this location means...

[Entering Brooklyn.]

Jodie took a deep breath and forwarded the unfortunate news that would have made any FBI investigator on his way to the scene of the operation go black.

She furrowed her brow, deliberated for a few seconds, and was just about to send a message to Akai Shūichi when she received an emergency communication.

The one who requested the emergency communication was a small team of FBI who had dispersed after entering Manhattan, and were currently on the south side of Manhattan, they just happened to be able to see the Brooklyn Bridge, which was also located on the south side of Manhattan, and were a bit panicked at the moment, "We seem to have seen Mr. Akai!"

"There was just a car,"

He's dazed and incoherent, "A car just flew up in the air!!!"

Correcting himself in a panic, "No, it was, it was literally flying, it was driving sideways directly along the bridge, one side of the tires were on the ground, and one side of the tires were almost in the air!"

The FBI investigator was shocked. "Airborne!"

Another FBI investigator grabbed the communicator and reported urgently, "The car looks like it's in an emergency chase, I saw what looked like long hair hanging out of the window, I'm not sure if it was Mr. Akai..."

"But!"

"Before the car took off, I saw the 'Master'! He was on the bridge! Waving!"

Realizing again that this statement did not seem to be something to be happy about, he lowered his voice and stumbled: "He was sitting in the passenger seat of a car, peeking his upper body out of the window, smiling and waving to the rear..."

"Then the car suspected to be Mr. Akai's flew up..."

Combining the two, they were more certain of the conclusion that 'the driver of the airborne car was Akai Shūichi', so they communicated urgently.

Jodie: "..."

"That's, that's the Brooklyn Bridge," the FBI investigator said, shocked and skeptical of Jodie's shock, "not a racetrack,"

"in case of an accidental fly-by!"

It's almost 100% suicide by water.

"Mr. Akai," Inquired the original FBI, "used to be a racer?!"

Jodie continued:"..."

She couldn't help but glance at her cell phone, double-checking Akai Shūichi's understatement of the short '[Brooklyn Bridge]', and reconsidering her judgment: it seemed that despite often reporting the location, Akai Shūichi wasn't having as easy a time as she'd predicted.

It made sense that she was chasing after the 'master'.

...Should be reasonable.

The cell phone vibrated with a new message.

The new message was still a short message that could be displayed only in the preview: [City Park.]

Soon, there's another message: [Cadman Plaza.]

It's really getting into Brooklyn, getting deeper.

Jodie adjusts her breathing, steadies herself, and grips the comm steadily, "Well, that's Mr. Akai you're looking at."

"You..."

Let's pause the pursuit for now.

It doesn't look like we're going to make it.

The words swirled around in her mouth before she finally spat out, "Go deeper into Brooklyn and assist Mr. Akai as soon as you encounter the 'Master'."

Cutting off the communication, Jodie stabilized herself and communicated with the other FBI team, "Has the victim stabilized?"

"According to the information I found on my side, she was a very famous lawyer before, it's no coincidence that the 'master' contacted her, he must have some plans."

"As soon as possible, let her mood stabilize, and reveal the conversation with the 'master'."

With a serious tone, Jodie held back, and held back, but still could not hold back, and sent a message to James: [You and Mr. Akai have had more contact, right, has he ever talked about his past.]

Akai Shūichi, Jodie actually do not know much, that he is intentionally low profile and avoid media coverage, seems to be hiding his appearance, although in the FBI is a little famous, but many people who have heard of his reputation have not actually seen him.

Everyone has their own code of conduct, and Jodie wasn't too curious.

But: [Was Mr. Akai an underground racer before joining the FBI?]
