"For the sake of the Boss," Ichijō Mirai said, "I injected myself with the dangerous drug without hesitation."
He smiled, his tone light and intimate, as if he were joking about a love affair, "The Boss doesn't have any intention of seeing me, does he?"
It wasn't a threatening statement, either literally or in tone, but in reality, it was a threatening statement.
A message popped up in the lower right corner of the computer.
Belmode gazed at the bottom right corner without moving, and slowly said, "Of course not, the Boss has been preparing for a long time in order to see you."
In the study, the sound of some kind of machine starting up roared slightly, then subsided.
A few seconds later, a new voice sounded, "Good evening."
The source of the voice was the upper right corner of the study, where a camera, which had been lowered in standby mode, was now raised and pointed at Ichijō Mirai with a small, ghostly red light, like the gaze of a human eye.
The greeting voice was human, but it was impossible to tell if the speaker was a man, woman, or child because they were using a voice changer.
When the voice, which had been transformed in two or three ways, finally entered the study, it was only a slight magnetic sound and a falsetto that could not be distinguished from any other information.
Ichijō Mirai's eyes twitched, and he smiled good-naturedly, "Good evening, my dear Boss."
"I thought I'd be able to meet you in person and see you in action."
A 1v1 offline meeting was of course out of the question, but if Karasuma Renya had any sense at all, knowing about the three terrorist attacks on Tokyo and Rum's overnight flight overseas, she would have known better than to come and meet Ichijō Mirai in person.
Ichijō Mirai had been prepared for this, except that he had expected Karasuma Renya to use teleconferencing to conduct the meeting, just like Belmode.
He didn't realize it would be in a falsetto-only format, and even his tone of voice was slightly shifted by a voice changer, so he was extremely cautious.
Low IQ: cowardly.
High IQ: extremely cautious.
Ichijō Mirai thoughtfully maintains his position as a newcomer to the organization, refraining from judging the dear leader for what he really is, except for a mildly conspiratorial tone.
Karasuma Renya heard it, but instead of getting angry, he gave a low chuckle, "You're too dangerous."
He didn't pretend not to hear it, nor did he give some perfunctory or reasonable excuse, but directly said, "Meeting and talking with you, there is a 99% probability that I will simply die."
"There is also a 1% probability of becoming a puppet."
"You know what you're capable of, you can do it," His tone was light, a statement of fact, "don't be presumptuous."
Wow, that sounds like a basic brain.
Ichijō Mirai raises an eyebrow.
"You're investigating 'medical malpractice'," Karasuma Renya added, "and the information is divided into two parts, one for all of it, and one that can be used as evidence and given directly to the police."
There was not much of a change in tone in the distinctly altered human voice, and he remained light, "This case has little to do with 'Officer Ichijō', and she is not the main person in charge of it."
The main person in charge, translated, was the one who took the blame and the blame.
When a medical incident that caused a bit of a stir ends up as an unsolved case, unnoticed in time, there's always someone who has to pay for it, be it the hospital director, or one of the higher-ups in the police force, or even a legislator who's been professionally bowing and apologizing for a hundred years.
But it's never 'Officer Ichijō'.
Karasuma Renya: "You don't have to close the case."
When the request for investigation was made, Ichijō Mirai's request was to 'compile a piece of information that can be used as evidence', and since it was 'evidence', it was most likely intended to be handed over to the police.
But it's not like it has anything to do with 'Officer Ichijō', so why is it necessary?
It's like getting up in the middle of a meal, walking around the room, and then sitting down to eat.
It's so unnecessary that the people at the table would be surprised and confused.
Ichijō Mirai didn't answer for the moment, he looked to the side of the study.
On that side was a row of bookshelves, but with Karasuma Renya's words, the shelves shifted slightly, or more accurately, a small section in the middle of the bottom two rows shifted.
The shaking went from slight to noticeable, and continued for about ten seconds before the small section of bookshelf detached itself from the entire shelf and, like a small stereo box, slid in the direction of the coffee table, finally coming to a stop next to Ichijō Mirai's leg.
The small bookshelf was divided into two parts, the front part still looked like a bookshelf with books neatly arranged on it, and the back part looked like a safe deposit box with two file folders placed vertically inside.
One was thick and the other was thinner, but not too thin, about the thickness of a pinky finger.
Ichijō Mirai picked it up, opened the thicker pouch, and placed the contents on the coffee table for inspection.
This document is a document from the beginning, starting with the leakage of the Organization's laboratory below the hospital and the misuse of the medicine by cancer patients, and without any intention to hide the Organization, it directly reviews the whole incident and reflects that the Organization's members were too negligent.
Because it was an internal review document, the focus of the document was on the leak and the data of the cancer patients after taking it.
So it was not until the very end that the police officer who investigated the case was briefly mentioned in one sentence, stating that the situation had been calmed down, and then 'Officer Ichijō' was singled out for additional personal information, from her joining the organization, leaving the organization under false pretenses of death, disguising herself and legally changing her last name, to her diagnosis of pregnancy, giving birth to a child, and then her death.
The information is very detailed, even some of the cases solved by 'Inspector Ichijō' are documented, so it's quite comprehensive.
There are several medical reports.
Ichijō Mirai took one of them out, and found that the file contained a film labeled: [Week 28].
The film showed 'Officer Ichijō's' abdomen, and to the untrained eye, it was difficult to read, as only a blurred image of a baby could be seen.
"This was retrieved by the organization after the fact," Karasuma Renya said, "You were already born a long time ago."
"Here is your birth certificate."
So Ichijō Mirai rummaged around and found a birth certificate from the hospital, he looked at it more and raised an eyebrow, "The original."
"Is this information still available at the hospital?"
"Only some of the originals were taken, most of the information is still stored in the hospital's database," Karasuma Renya smiled, "If they didn't purge the information, then it's still in the hospital, and someone who investigates your apparent identity can still find it."
It's normal to be able to find out.
It's the ones that don't that are strange to the investigator, like the police who need to confirm the identity of a new student at the police academy a few years later.
Ichijō Mirai: "Oh."
He puts the file away, looks at the thin one again, and raises an eyebrow once more: there's a partial overlap between the two files.
Only a part.
Evidence documents, does not appear the existence of any organization, put all the black pots are all pushed to the dean.
"The person in charge at the time was a high-ranking member of the police," Karasuma Renya said lightly, 'The dean is still active, and he's the perfect person to supply the police with the 'culprits' who are not members of the organization."
The director's current position is: Director of University of Tokyo Hospital.
