Chereads / Conan: I'm Really a Good Person / Chapter 118 - All Looking Forward to it

Chapter 118 - All Looking Forward to it

The two Inuos: "..." Their expressions were so obvious that Ichijō Mirai could pretty much surmise their current general thoughts with a quick glance, and raised an eyebrow, "It's not bad for Inuo's last name to be the same, they all think the same way."

He pushed the cart outside and waved his hand without looking back, "You're here to see that police cadet, right? If you want to see him, go ahead, I've already given him the key test areas."

"Remember to cheat a lot, and tell me if you don't do well."

That's what he said to Inspector Inuo.

Before leaving the hospital room, Ichijō Mirai finally remembers that there's one more thing he didn't explain, so he turns to Inspector Inuo, "By the way."

He was very polite, "In order to promote friendship, mutual aid, and to get along like family, for each dear friend I gain, I will simply give the name 'Inuo' as a sign of friendship,"

"You don't have a problem with that, do you?"

It's too much trouble to memorize names one by one, so I'll just call them all Inuo.

Even though the poor victims might turn their heads in unison when he called out to them in a crowd, and he felt a sense of owls, and even though he felt a subtle sense of being caught in the act of adultery when he met the real Inuo, it didn't matter, the result was good.

Now he could remember everyone's last name.

"..." Inspector Inuo had vaguely guessed, but was still a little slow to answer when he was actually confronted with it, "Of course I don't mind!"

"I'm thrilled that you've bestowed the name Inuo upon them... it represents the position I hold in your heart!"

Ichijō Mirai smiled perfunctorily, signaling that he'd heard someone, and simply closed the door.

He pushed the cart down the corridor once more, his footsteps drowned out by the gurgling of the wheels.

A passing nurse greeted him with, "Oh, there you are, Dr. Kanagawa."

'Kanagawa' is the name of Ichijō Mirai's current disguise.

It's not Dr. Inuo's last name, it's just a made-up pseudo-last name that Dr. Inuo uses to subtly insert people into the hospital.

The good news: Dr. Inuo is a director and has certain privileges in the hospital area.

With his years of authority and status as a director, he was able to slip a 'doctor from a New York hospital' into the hospital without the doctors and nurses saying anything.

Of course, that's if the dean and the other directors don't know about it, and there's still a delay in the entry procedures and in accessing the resumes.

At least, they're not aware of it and they're delaying it.

Ichijō Mirai speculates that the understanding Director Inuo must have wagged his tail and told the dean and the other directors who had a say in the matter, "Just let him stay for a month, just a month!"

The bad news: as a doctor, Ichijō Mirai is in charge of the patients.

As the apparent new doctor, he has three choices.

Choice one: to ooh and ahh over the lucky patients who've just been admitted to the hospital.

Choice two: to go to Dr. Inuo's patients.

Choice three: to work the night shift and go to the emergency room under the pretext of adapting to the pace of a Tokyo hospital.

Good news: Dr. Inuo is happy to ooh and ahh over his patients.

It's less than a month away, and he'll be there to help hand out cheat sheets, make sure there are no medical errors, and for the less serious patients, there's only the psychological damage of having to deal with Ichijō Mirai.

The bad news: Dr. Inuo is a gastroenterologist.

The cheat sheet is not very good, and to get it 100% correct, you have to either have Dr. Inuo accompany you to the clinic to take the test, or have Dr. Inuo put in a little effort by studying the various patient-related films and simply moonlighting as a police officer, listening to the patient's dictation in the audio recordings of the consultation.

...Too much trouble.

Ichijō Mirai politely declined, and turned around to schedule the night shift.

The hospital's night shift emergency room was made up of several doctors, mostly young doctors, which meant that Ichijō Mirai could say, 'You go ahead, young Dr. Inuo, you're on'.

The nurse who greeted her was a colleague of Ichijō Mirai's on the night shift tonight, on the roster.

That's why she had the courage to greet the doctor, who had only been here for a day and seemed to be a bit out of the loop, and whose personality she hadn't yet gotten to know.

Ichijō Mirai smiled back, "Hello."

Seeing his friendly attitude, the nurse immediately stopped and asked, "Dr. Kanagawa is a gastroenterologist, right? What brings you here?"

He was pushing a cart and looked like he had just finished changing a patient's medicine.

...It's against the rules of the hospital.

But the relationship has privileges, the director stuffed in the person, even if the mistake, everyone will be open eyes ignore, let alone just visiting, the director of the stuffing and the director of the visited have not said anything.

The nurse had just finished speaking when she realized that her inquiry was somewhat interrogative, and hastened to add, "Is there a friend in the hospital?"

She cupped her hands and said, "You actually came to see your friend in person, so gentle!"

If it's a friend, it must be a personal visit, and it's only a visit to a friend, why is it 'so gentle'?

"Yes," Ichijō Mirai paused for a moment, smiling and nodding as he ignored the punchline, "he accidentally sprained his foot, and I was a bit worried, so I came over to take a look."

"The one with the sprained foot?" The nurse recognized it in a second, "The one sent by the police?"

She showed real sympathy, "That gentleman is really miserable, I heard that he was hurt in love and then in a case, he fell down the stairs while chasing after his ruthless girlfriend who dumped him, but he also went to the police station."

"He even subconsciously blurted out his girlfriend's last name when he reported to the hospital!"

It's too bad.

Ichijō Mirai smiles, "Inuo?"

The nurse nods deeply, "Inuo!"

"I hope he gets over it soon," Ichijō Mirai says, lightening up the conversation, "Ms. Koharu's on night duty today, isn't she? I saw your name and picture on the duty roster and paid attention to it."

The reason for his interest: this nurse is in charge of surgery.

He was familiar with certain surgical procedures, such as gunshot wounds and knife wounds.

The nurse understood the reason for the interest: well...

"Yes," Nurse Koharu touched the hair on her ear and pursed her lips into a smile, "I didn't think Dr. Kanagawa would pay attention to me."

And now even more so.

After all, it's an unsolicited nurse, so she might be able to take advantage of it during the night shift by assigning patients to other doctors.

It's for the good of the patients.

Ichijō Mirai smiled, "The night shift is still two or three hours away, so I'm looking forward to seeing you then."

He pushes the cart.

Nurse Koharu understood and stepped back a bit, nodding with a pursed smile, "I'm also looking forward to working with Dr. Kanagawa."

Thinking that Ichijō Mirai had just arrived at the hospital for a day, she added kindly, "Everyone's looking forward to it, too."

"Everyone says you're a great doctor who came back from New York Hospital, and the director went to great lengths to get you here!"

But Ichijō Mirai is still under observation, and is not confirmed to be on board.

That's why it's so strange that he quietly entered the hospital without being hired.

Ichijō Mirai still smiles, nods politely, and pushes the trolley away, speaking for the patients who have no say in the matter: no expectations.

The patients at the emergency clinic tonight really weren't looking forward to it.
