Chereads / Conan: I'm Really a Good Person / Chapter 103 - Disguised Criminals

Chapter 103 - Disguised Criminals

The so-called 'Disguised Criminals' training, which takes police cadets out of the academy and into society, temporarily strips them of their cadet status and gives them the status of wanted criminals, unbeknownst to most of the police, who will treat them as real criminals, post wanted notices, pursue and arrest them, and even shoot them.

If the cadets are arrested and put in jail during this period, they have to wait until the end of the training before they can be released.

It's a training program with a lot of room for maneuver.

Unlike marksmanship and cross-country running, the academy's training program has never had this kind of open-ended training, and even though it's been rumored for a long time, the senior management had to discuss it a few times before finally confirming the finalization of the program.

So, after a few days of hook and ladder, barbed wire back and forth, dumbbells, tension machines and other physical torture, the police academy training finally appeared to change.

At eight o'clock in the evening, the day's physical training was over, but the instructors called the cadets together, and one after another private car was parked in front of the police academy.

Each private car could seat up to four people, making it easier for the instructors to break up and re-group the cadets, and because of the large number of students, many of the cars were manned by people in police uniforms.

Ichijō Mirai boarded a private car.

There were two instructors in the car, one he didn't know, Instructor Yoshida, and one he knew very well, Instructor Onidzuka.

The first thing he did in the car was to change his clothes.

Onidzuka Hachizo took out three different pieces of clothing from the bag in the car and showed Ichijō Mirai to choose, "Pick one and put it on."

The three items of clothing were different in style, but all had one thing in common: they were all brightly colored, with a hint of fluorescence.

Wearing such clothing would be very conspicuous at night, but Ichijō Mirai didn't care; he scanned them, casually took the brightest one and put it on, then, with a perfunctory pretense of clear-headed stupidity, inquired knowingly, "What are we doing here, instructor?"

"Well," Onidzuka Hachizo took the training uniform Ichijō Mirai had changed out of and casually slapped him on the shoulder a few times with his heavy palm, revealing a somewhat biting grin, "for the last three days, whenever it's time for a break, there's been a huge crowd gathering in your dormitory... do you really think I don't know that?"

He also asked, "What are you doing in the dorm? How dare you think of that."

I can't believe you're telling the others about the training program. You're the guy who's been able to return four times to help his fellow runners during a cross-country run with a heavy load.

Ichijō Mirai said solemnly, "Gathering rookies."

"If you can't beat them, then join them," he said with great seriousness, "I couldn't believe it when I was invited, but I understood the truth when I invited you."

Onidzuka Hachizo: "?"

Ichijō Mirai quickly withdrew and reopened the microphone, "Doing what you want to do, instructor."

"When I first heard about the training program, I was a little unsure of what you were thinking, but since I've bumped into you three times in two days muttering to yourself that the 'Disguised Criminals' training program is hard, very hard, and worrying about whether or not the freshmen under your command will make it back, I've come to understand."

"You want me to tell the students."

"And," he said with a straight face, "we're a team."

How can you not tell your classmates such important information?

It's just that it costs more.

Onidzuka Hachizo: "..."

"Okay," his eyebrows jumped, but his expression held steady, still looking like a lanky gorilla, "are there any valuables in your clothes? During this time, your training clothes will be kept in the warehouse with the others' training clothes, they might be lost."

"Let me know if there are, and I'll keep them for you."

Valuables can be found anywhere, but not in Ichijō Mirai's possession.

He shook his head, more serious, "I don't even have a meal card."

Police cadets are given meal cards and other items after checking in, but Ichijō Mirai only had them for five minutes.

Onidzuka Hachizo: "???"

"You lost your meal card? Then the last few days..."

"Morofushi-san swiped it for me," said Ichijō Mirai, who had a great sense of community and friendship with his classmates, as well as a great sense of morality, "so I disclosed the information to him for free."

Of course, the main reason was that Morofushi Hiromitsu already knew.

Onidzuka Hachizo was silent.

He glanced over to the driver's seat, exchanged glances with Instructor Yoshida, and reluctantly changed the subject, "The second student is here."

The second student was Morofushi Hiromitsu, who was lucky enough to receive the great benefit of disclosing information free of charge at the same time as Ichijō Mirai, who had a great sense of community spirit, friendship, justice and morality.

Morofushi Hiromitsu was stunned for a moment as he entered the car with the license plate number, before greeting him and changing clothes.

"I'll do it," said Ichijō Mirai, taking the initiative to care for his classmate, "Morofushi-san, do you have any valuables in your training clothes? If you do, I'll carry your clothes for five minutes, and if you don't, Instructor Onidzuka will keep them for you."

It's nice to be loved, but the student who's being loved is too cold and unfeeling to be moved.

"I don't have any personal belongings with me," Morofushi Hiromitsu's eyes swept over the [High Moral Sense] wooden plaque that had been hanging on Ichijō Mirai's wrist, "You're still wearing an omamori during this training program?"

After all, it's the only thing on his body that matches 'high morality', and it has a bonus, so of course he can't take it off.

Ichijō Mirai nodded, and was about to speak when he heard a chaotic commotion outside, and sniffed over.

A crowd had gathered in a private car not far away, and a dozen or so police cadets stood scattered nearby, as if watching something unexpected.

Ten seconds later, Matsuda Jinpei stepped out of the crowd, his eyes quickly scanning the license plates around the area, finally settling on Ichijō Mirai, quickly getting into the car and closing the door, then quickly changing his clothes, "I'm coming, let's go, instructor!"

Outside, the crowd dispersed, and beside the private car stood a black-faced instructor, glaring in all directions with his arms crossed, as if looking for his enemies, and shouting angrily, "Don't let me find you!"

Ichijō Mirai: "?"

He was in awe, "You actually lit up the pickpocket skill, I didn't realize you couldn't look good."

And then, with some remorse, "Why didn't I think of that."

It's normal for police cadets not to bring valuables, after all, they have to train, but the instructors will definitely bring some relatively valuable items, such as walkie-talkies, such as cell phones.

If I had known, I would have made a mess and gone in to rob them.

Ichijō Mirai hadn't cared when the instructors were unconscious and at their mercy, but now it's too late to regret it.

"What?" Matsuda Jinpei said as he slipped out of the collar of his long-sleeved shirt, "There's something wrong with the tires on that car."

"I passed by a couple of times and saw it, and I wanted to help unload it, but I got caught right after I started unloading it, and the instructor didn't believe me when I told him there was a problem, tsk."

Onidzuka Hachizo coughed heavily, "Cough!"

He took out the black blindfold from his bag of props and got serious, "Now that you're all here, pull down the curtains and I'll put on the blindfolds for you."

"This vehicle will travel around Tokyo for thirty minutes, then drop you off every fifteen minutes."

"During that time, you will wear blindfolds, listen to voices, but you will not talk to each other or discuss private meeting places."

"Of course, if you do meet, we won't care."

Ichijō Mirai puts on the blindfold.

The car starts up.
