Chapter 94 - Officer Ichijō

The instructors were very trustworthy. Since they said that as long as all members met the standards, they could be dismissed early today, they really did so. As soon as they got off the bus, it was announced that there was no need to assemble.

Many of the new students breathed a huge sigh of relief and moved their almost dead bodies, jumping off the truck one by one in various unsightly positions like fish rolling, and the atmosphere was much more relaxed, with the sound of scattered conversations about how they were going to move their muscles after dismissal.

Ichijō Mirai jumped off the truck with ease, ignoring the scattered conversations around him and the people who wanted to invite him to join them to move his body, and went back to his dormitory to catch up on his sleep.

-He didn't feel any pain anyway, so he didn't have to worry about his legs feeling like crap the next day, much less the soreness in his legs that would last for a week or so.

But then again, the instructors were a bit disreputable.

Catching Ichijō Mirai walking toward the dormitory, Onidzuka Hachizo raised his voice: "Kujō Mirai."

Hearing the name they cared about, the freshmen turned around in unison.

Onidzuka Hachizo paused and named a few more, "Matsuda Jinpei, Morofushi Hiromitsu, Kenji Hagiwara, Furuya Rei, Date Wataru."

"Come out."

"School just started, the school building hasn't even been cleaned yet, so you guys are coming with me to clean the school building."

His point is in the early hours of the morning to participate in the instructor's disgrace plan, in the eyes of other instructors and freshmen is a blatant retaliation.

If it was noon today, before the cross-country run, most people probably wouldn't have reacted, but now, after hearing those words, which meant 'I'm going to intentionally retaliate against Ichijō Mirai', the atmosphere changed subtly.

The new students didn't leave, but maintained the fixed steps of turning back when they heard the roll call, they turned their heads to look at Ichijō Mirai and the others, then turned back again, and faced Onidzuka Hachizo with like sunflowers.

The subtlety of the atmosphere deepened.

No one moved, Onidzuka Hachizo similarly paused, he narrowed his eyes for a moment, and just as he was about to speak, he heard Ichijō Mirai's voice, "Okay."

Ichijō Mirai stepped out from the crowd, "Going over there now, Instructor Onidzuka."

The subtly subdued atmosphere shattered in an instant.

Onidzuka Hachizo glanced at Ichijō Mirai a few times, then at the other freshmen who seemed to be dispersing as if nothing had happened, but were actually still paying attention, and turned to lead the way, "Follow me."

The school building was tall and large, with four floors, and about a dozen classrooms lined up on one floor.

"Ichijō Mirai is cleaning the outside, responsible for sweeping the outer circle of the teaching building," Onidzuka Hachizo called out the names and assigned tasks, "Morofushi Hiromitsu is responsible for the left classroom on the first floor, Matsuda Jinpei is responsible for the right classroom, Furuya Rei and Date Wataru are responsible for the second floor classroom, and Kenji Hagiwara is responsible for the corridor."

He reminded everyone except Ichijō Mirai, "Remember to not only sweep the floors, but also mop and scrub the tiles and glass."

Raising his wristwatch to check the time, "Tools are in the utility room on each floor, and there's a broom by the door for sweeping the outside, so I'll give you an hour."

"Don't let anyone else help you."

It really sounded like a small person with a grudge for losing face, and if the freshmen had been there, Onidzuka Hachizo probably would have gotten another silent stare, but...

Ichijō Mirai raised his hand, "Instructor Onidzuka, I don't need to relax my body."

However, Onidzuka Hachizo's purpose wasn't to retaliate, it wasn't to clean up, it was to make them, the ones with the most trips back and forth, move their bodies, and why they didn't acquiesce to move their bodies on their own, but instead carried them over...

"I knew you were heading to the dormitory with the intention of taking a break," Onidzuka Hachizo dismissed mercilessly as he glared at Ichijō Mirai, "and cleaned for an hour honestly."

He didn't ask what Ichijō Mirai thought of him for stopping, and now helping, Ichijō Mirai, or how Ichijō Mirai was sure that he wasn't really a vindictive villain, but only waved his hand at Ichijō Mirai and the others, emphasizing with a stern face, "One hour, no sitting down and resting, I'll be coming down to randomly spot-check you all."

With that, he marched into the building.

Ichijō Mirai sighed calmly.

"Cleaning up and relaxing your bodies is inefficient," He said, "If you want to relax, you can just go to your free time and I'll explain it to Instructor Onidzuka."

He was the only one Onidzuka Hachizo wanted to bring over anyway.

"You're going to sit around and wait for the instructor to come out to check and explain, right?" Matsuda Jinpei stretched out, his eyes rising, "Doesn't look like he's going to relax his body at all, tsk."

He hammered out, "Cleaning."

"I guess no one has cleaned the teaching building since the holiday. We have to go to class in it tomorrow. We can't sit in the dusty classroom and desks, right?"

"It has to be cleaned."

And gazing at Ichijō Mirai, "Especially the guy in charge of cleaning the outside, don't slack off."

Ichijō Mirai: "..."

He nodded perfunctorily, picked up the broom at the door and left, "Okay, okay, got it."

Each classroom in the school building has two large windows, the periphery of some dense greenery, in the first floor and the second floor of some classrooms, if you open the window, you can even directly reach out and touch the greenery.

The shadows near the greenery are also a good place for cats to hang out.

Ichijō Mirai didn't sweep up any of the leaves, and found a spot of dense greenery to sit down and rest. He opened his system and studied it for a moment, scanning through the wide array of items he couldn't afford to buy, and found a quest reward from his personal belongings: [Personal Mystery Box].

He read the introduction again, paused for a few seconds on the words 'it will help you accurately', and translated: it will give some clues.

A mission about the player's life, about the period of undercover work, or any other mission, or maybe something else.

Ichijō Mirai is not stable, so Ichijō Mirai is going to interpret it as if he's going to be given a mission that has some meaning, and weigh it up: there are a lot of clues on the Organization's side of the game, and Gin, who isn't a person who likes to smile, and Inoue, who's good at everything but talking a little bit, will tell him a lot of things, but not on the police academy's side.

He just turns it on.

[You have opened the 'Personal Mystery Box' and obtained an unknown clue.]

A system alert appeared in the lower right corner, froze for three seconds, and disappeared slowly.

Almost the next second after it disappeared, Ichijō Mirai heard Onidzuka Hachizo's somewhat hesitant voice, "Yoshida, you..."

It came from the window a meter away.

The dense greenery obscured the window, making it impossible for those who were separated by it to see each other.

Ichijō Mirai's eyes twitched, and he listened without moving.

A voice that sounded almost as mature as Onidzuka Hachizo's rang out, "Why don't I reveal the 'villain's mask' that you've deliberately created?"

It was Yoshida.

Yoshida's tone was calm: "You know Officer Ichijō."

Onidzuka Hachizo didn't say anything at first, and after a few breaths he said, "Twenty-five years ago, almost all the police officers knew Officer Ichijō."

"Yes," Yoshida smiled, "twenty-five years ago, she was like the bright moon in the long blackness, when she looked up, everyone could see her bright light."

"But do you know, when she first joined the police academy, she wasn't the bright and shining 'Officer Ichijō' who was envisioned by countless people, she was just an ordinary person with even less guts than ordinary people."

"At that time, when she was walking down the road and saw two robbers dressed in black, her first reaction was not to rush up and subdue the robbers, but to just hold her head and crouch down, more skillful than ordinary people."
