No matter how chaotic the situation in Konoha was, it didn't affect Dak as he took Naruto for a walk in the park.
"Big brother, are those summoning beasts?" Naruto asked curiously, looking at the creatures in the park.
"Sort of. They're similar in nature. You can call them Pokémon," Dak nodded.
He pondered how to explain the existence of Pokémon Island to Naruto but soon realized it wasn't necessary. Naruto was young and naïve, ready to accept new things without much question.
"The Pokémon here have such good relationships with everyone," Naruto said, enviously watching the people and Pokémon interacting harmoniously.
"Of course. This is Pokémon Island after all."
"Pokémon Island? Is this an island?" Naruto was shocked, having no idea they were on an island.
"No, this is a new world. Do you know about the three great sacred places in the ninja world?"
"I don't."
Naruto shook his head, clueless about the three sacred places. He had only recently learned about summoning beasts in school and didn't even fully understand what they were.
"After you go back, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen, will probably ask you some questions. You can ask him about the three great sacred places."
"Okay," Naruto nodded, still not fully grasping why Dak knew the Hokage would question him.
"I want you to meet someone," Dak said, looking down at the little blonde.
Naruto, completely trusting Dak, agreed without hesitation. He had no idea who Dak wanted him to meet but believed Dak wasn't a bad person.
Dak had an amusing idea: he wanted to leave Naruto with Zephyr.
Why Zephyr? Although the Whitebeard Pirates' environment could help Naruto grow better, there were two reasons for choosing Zephyr.
First, the Whitebeard Pirates were already a large family with or without Naruto. But Zephyr, after losing his wife and child to pirates, had lived alone for decades until Dak gave him a Growlithe.
If Dak now placed Naruto with Zephyr, it would certainly change Zephyr's life, likely in a positive way.
Second, Zephyr and Jiraiya shared similarities beyond their voice actors; their experiences were also strikingly similar.
Jiraiya died at the hands of his students, and Zephyr met a similar fate. Naruto was supposed to be Jiraiya's disciple in the original timeline, but if Dak made him Zephyr's grandson instead, it would be quite interesting.
With these thoughts, Dak brought Naruto to the underwater naval base.
"Big brother, are we under the sea?" Naruto asked nervously, clutching Dak's pants, looking up at the fish and Pokémon swimming overhead.
"Yes, this is a navy base," Dak confirmed.
In the future, if Naruto became Zephyr's grandson or disciple, he would frequently visit here. It was better to familiarize him with the place now.
"The navy?"
"They maintain peace at sea, protect civilians and Pokémon, and come from another world."
"Another world?" Naruto's eyes sparkled with interest.
"I'll explain later," Dak said, deciding to let Zephyr explain the ocean and its wonders to Naruto.
At this moment, Dak remembered something and used his psychic powers to probe Naruto's body.
He felt nothing, which puzzled him.
Could it be that his psychic powers couldn't detect the Nine-Tails? Was the Nine-Tails considered an independent entity, or was it seen as part of Naruto's power and thus suppressed?
For now, Dak couldn't determine anything about the Nine-Tails. At least in the Pokémon world, he couldn't sense any malice from it. However, he was sure that Naruto's Asura chakra and Uzumaki clan's chakra were being suppressed.
Currently, Naruto was just an ordinary eight-year-old without any special abilities. Ironically, this fulfilled Kushina's wish for Naruto to grow up peacefully, without becoming a ninja or going to war.
"Wow, this is amazing!" Naruto exclaimed, bringing Dak back to reality.
From the naval base, looking up was a spectacular sight. Fish and sea beasts from the Grand Line and the four seas swam by, with wild Water-type Pokémon leisurely passing through.
This was undoubtedly the All Blue Sanji dreamed of.
Dak didn't respond further, quietly leading Naruto deeper into the base.
Most navy personnel stayed in Marineford, as their powers were suppressed here, hindering their training. The base mainly served as a final line of defense, a "last resort" for the navy.
However, the base now housed a new unit of ordinary trainers, who always stayed at the Pokémon Island naval base.
"Big brother?" Naruto called out.
"My name is Dak."
"Dak?"
"Hmm?"
"Where are we going?"
"We've arrived."
Dak nodded toward a towering man with purple hair and a large red dog.
"Admiral Zephyr, Arcanine," Dak greeted.
The dog, Arcanine, perked up at Dak's voice and immediately pounced on him.
Dak was knocked down as usual, a routine whenever they met. He didn't mind Arcanine's affectionate behavior, having trained it for a while. Otherwise, Arcanine wouldn't have been able to approach him.
The Fire Stone the navy purchased at an auction was for Arcanine. After evolving, it showed the characteristics of the One Piece world: it became massive.
"Get off," Dak grumbled, struggling to breathe under Arcanine's dense fur, despite its weight not being an issue.
Arcanine happily rolled to the side.
"What's brought you here, Dak?" Zephyr asked, approaching. He glanced at Naruto before focusing on Dak.
"Meet Naruto, a child from another world. His parents died in a war, leaving him alone," Dak explained, a smile spreading across his face.
Zephyr, over three meters tall, looked down at the small boy who barely reached his knee.
"Why are you telling me this?" Zephyr frowned, feeling a strange sense of déjà vu. Then he realized something significant. "You can travel to another world now?"
"Yes," Dak nodded, his eyes glowing faintly red, indicating he was using his psychic powers.
He conveyed the tragic tale of Naruto's parents and his harsh treatment in Konoha to Zephyr, who was visibly moved.
"Can't you, as a just admiral, do something about this?" Dak asked, morally compelling Zephyr.
While this tactic wouldn't work on everyone, it was effective on Zephyr. True to his character, Zephyr's face tightened with determination.
At this moment, Zephyr's opinion of another world soured considerably.
