Dak indeed had no idea how the temporal and spatial dragons from the Pokémon world located space-time nodes. However, it was clear that these two well-behaved children had their abilities modified by the system.
At this moment, Dak could clearly see the chaotic flow of space-time before him.
He was merely a psychic-maxed One Piece powerhouse, with no special ability to perceive such phenomena. Before this, Dak had no concept of space-time turbulence, yet now he understood that the waterfall-like scenes flowing around him were exactly that.
"Hum."
Playful Palkia stood nearby, reaching out to touch one of the scenes.
"Stop!"
Dak glanced over and immediately shouted.
He wasn't sure which world the scene Palkia was about to touch came from, but the chaotic primordial beasts within made it clear that it was likely from a high-level fantasy world.
"Hum?!"
Palkia flinched and quickly withdrew its hand, startled by Dak's sudden command.
Dak said nothing more, sitting on Dialga's back, cautiously observing the turbulent flows around him, careful not to accidentally touch any of the scenes.
He could see a few familiar scenes, even from different time points of the same world.
According to the system's instructions, touching one of these scenes would instantly link to that world at that specific time point.
However, "At this speed, I can't guarantee I'll touch what I want."
Dak raised an eyebrow.
Even with max-level psychic abilities and Observation Haki, he could barely capture some of the scenes.
For an ordinary person standing here, the sight would be merely colorful streaks, completely oblivious that these colors represented specific scenes.
While his mind could barely keep up with the scenes, his physical reaction speed couldn't accurately touch the world he wanted, making him hesitant to take the risk.
Most of the scenes in the space-time turbulence were unknown to him.
He feared accidentally entering a world where Pokémon couldn't survive, rendering further business impossible.
Fortunately, the main quest provided a safeguard.
World Anchor
Effect: Randomly draw five worlds from the current space-time node, choose one to link.
To Dak, this item was essentially a safety net.
A five-world draw, with at least one viable option among them.
Without hesitation, Dak used the item.
"Two rules: no tech-based worlds and no unknown worlds."
Avoiding unknown worlds was a given.
He also decided against tech-based worlds after careful consideration.
In the Pokémon world, legendary Pokémon were often shown being controlled or captured by various technological means. Such scenarios were terrifyingly unpredictable.
Overall, Pokémon had random and uncertain resistance to technological forces.
Thus, Dak decided to avoid tech-based worlds.
Worlds with magical or elemental natures were more suitable for Pokémon.
In the next moment, five scenes emerged from the space-time turbulence, each labeled with the world's name.
Scene One:
Super Gene Universe.
Dak glanced at the scene filled with miniskirts and immediately passed on this world.
The combat power in this universe was already broken, prone to many issues.
Moreover, the Super Gene Academy was a purely tech-based world, heavily reliant on technology, seemingly suppressing Pokémon.
Even though the scene depicted the early era of the Angel Civilization, Dak wasn't interested.
Scene Two:
Three-Body Universe.
One look at the name, and Dak decisively moved on.
No way would he choose Three-Body, especially after passing on Super God Academy.
Scene Three:
NieR: Automata.
"Ugh."
Seeing this scene, Dak knew he wasted a random draw.
While Pokémon could dominate in NieR: Automata, there weren't many beings left to trade with.
If the Breeding House no longer needed funds and Pokémon Island was perfected, he might link to this world as a side quest or tourist destination, charging a teleportation fee.
But now, he sought a world for extensive trading.
Scene Four:
Naruto World.
Dak finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Finally, a viable option."
Naruto's world was a decent choice.
For Pokémon, the tricky part would be the genjutsu. Even for One Piece powerhouses, genjutsu was troublesome.
However, genjutsu was akin to a confused state, where the target's consciousness was clouded.
With their abilities, Pokémon could likely shake off the state over time or use status-healing items.
In terms of power levels, Naruto's world should be similar to One Piece.
(Author Note: I generally avoid comparing power levels because it always sparks debates, but my future plots will inevitably involve this, so I'm being transparent now to avoid disputes later. The following is just my opinion.)
Pokémon would fare better in Naruto's world than in One Piece.
Most battles in Naruto are on land, and elemental attributes are more prominent, similar to Pokémon's type relationships.
Moreover, the Naruto world already has the concept of 'summoning beasts,' making people more naturally accepting and dependent on Pokémon than those in One Piece.
In terms of peak combat power, both worlds are evenly matched, with individuals capable of planetary-level feats. Naruto's eye techniques are as troublesome as Logia abilities. (One Piece's moon has Enel and space pirates; Naruto has the Otsutsuki clan.)
But lower-tier characters in Naruto generally lose out.
Naruto has a small group of top-tier fighters, while most high-attack, low-defense ninjas stand no chance against One Piece's tanks.
One Piece's numerous Devil Fruit abilities, each powerful in their own right, would be seen as advanced bloodline limits in Naruto.
Another point: Naruto's world is much smaller with fewer people.
The Fourth Ninja War had 100,000 troops.
One Piece's Marineford War had over 100,000, Alabasta's civil war had 1 million, Fishman Island had 100,000, and Totto Land had 100,000.
These numbers don't include One Piece's various exotic creatures.
The Fourth Ninja War included tailed beasts, but One Piece's wars had no sea kings.
In a full-scale war, Naruto's world would be outmatched, but if the Infinite Tsukuyomi succeeded, One Piece would be in trouble.
Unless Oda introduces Devil Fruits that specifically counter genjutsu, One Piece characters would have to rely on their willpower to resist.
However, due to Naruto's weaker mid and lower-tier characters, they would be more reliant on Pokémon, needing partners for combat and support.
But given the population constraints, Naruto's world couldn't provide as much economic revenue as One Piece.
With One Piece countries having millions of inhabitants, its population far exceeds Naruto's, leading to significantly higher trade volumes.
(Oda mentioned Alabasta's population is 10 million in SBS, and the newspaper in episode 78 indicated the civil war had 1 million troops, excluding Baroque Works.)
"This period should be in Konoha's 59th year."
Dak frowned.
The 59th year marked a significant event.
Uchiha's clan massacre and Itachi's defection to join Akatsuki.
Originally a peaceful era post-Third Ninja War, the tensions between Konoha's leadership and the Uchiha clan intensified, with Konoha's top brass growing increasingly uneasy.
Itachi's actions likely gave them some peace of mind.
At this time, the Konoha 12 were around 8 years old, in their third year of the academy.
It was also when young Naruto heroically saved Hinata, earning her admiration despite being beaten by bullies.
A good time, if not the best in the Naruto timeline.
"Good, at least I have a fallback."
Dak nodded, feeling relieved.
He initially feared having to choose the safer but less ideal NieR: Automata.
