What does it mean to be a "Lucky Emperor"?

Do you understand the value of being a "Lucky Emperor"?

Forget it, it's hard to explain to those who aren't.

This time, Dak was hit with two huge surprises in his ten consecutive draws.

Among these surprises, even the upgrades to Armament Haki and the acquisition of Observation Haki paled in comparison.

One of them, needless to say, was the Sceptile, which had reached max level in the world of One Piece.

The Grass-type Sceptile often finds itself at a disadvantage in the Pokémon world's various leagues, a situation that doesn't improve much even when it evolves into a Grass/Dragon-type.

But in the world of One Piece, where types don't matter, there's no such thing as being at a disadvantage.

"Cha"

Suddenly, a voice sounded beside Dak, snapping him back to reality.

He instinctively looked forward, where a 2-meter tall Sceptile stood just a meter away.

The average Sceptile stands at 1.7 meters, making this Sceptile a head taller than usual, a clear indicator of its strength.

Furthermore, its bushy, vibrant green tail and the sharp, slender Leaf Blades on its arms indicated it was in its prime.

When Dak locked eyes with the Sceptile, he felt a tightening in his heart.

The Sceptile's eyes were incredibly sharp.

Sharper than Mihawk's "Hawkeyes" at this time, filled with pride and confidence, reminiscent of Mihawk ten years later.

[Talent Detection]

[Orange]

This was a Sceptile of exceptional talent, at its peak condition.

It was a true king among its kind.

Though it appeared lonely, its solitude differed from that of Darkrai.

The former's was likely due to its strength and pride, looking down on its peers, leading to its isolation.

While the latter's was because it was hard to find its kind, having lived too long and become insensitive to life and death, resulting in loneliness.

"Hello, Sceptile, my name is Dak, and from now on, I'll be your partner."

Dak reached out hesitantly, doubting Sceptile would shake hands.

In the Pokémon world, when a Pokémon's strength exceeds that of its trainer, it might not obey, looking down on the trainer.

Like Ash and his Charizard.

Of course, such cases are rare, as most Pokémon, even if they become very strong, would obey their trainer if their relationship is strong enough.

But Dak and Sceptile didn't have such a relationship.

As Dak expected, Sceptile merely stared at him, its gaze sharp and evaluative.

"Sigh."

Dak had no choice but to release his Conqueror's Haki.

This was the only thing he could show off in front of Sceptile.

Darkrai might count, but Dak didn't want to earn Sceptile's approval through Darkrai.

When the dark red covered the entire bedroom, Sceptile's eyes widened slightly, and it smiled faintly.

Dak's Conqueror's Haki was max level, comparable to Shanks, surely enough to earn Sceptile's approval.

"Cha."

Sceptile, somewhat absent-mindedly, shook hands with Dak.

It seemed to think Dak was still weak but saw potential in him, deeming him worthy as a companion.

Sceptile was willing to fight for Dak, but not ready to take orders from him yet.

Dak sighed in relief, seeing Sceptile had accepted him.

Sceptile's character wasn't bad; it just had high standards for its companions.

"Darkrai, come out and greet Sceptile."

Dak then pulled Darkrai from his shadow to introduce it to Sceptile.

When Darkrai floated in front of Sceptile, the air seemed to crackle with tension.

Dak wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but it reminded him of the standoff between Ash's Sceptile and Paul at the Sinnoh League.

"Dark."

Darkrai scratched its head awkwardly, sensing Sceptile's fighting spirit but not keen on battling.

Otherwise, with its golden talent, it wouldn't be this weak.

"Cha."

Sceptile, noticing Darkrai's reluctance, seemed a bit less enthusiastic but still greeted Darkrai, showing respect, albeit with a clear sense of superiority.

Unless Darkrai proved itself in battle, Sceptile would continue to see itself as stronger.

"Sceptile, let's go meet the other partners."

After the greeting, Dak invited Sceptile to join the others outside.

Sceptile agreed, hoping to find worthy opponents but was destined for disappointment.

Upon seeing the Pokémon kids causing a racket around him, Sceptile was overwhelmed.

Why were these kids so noisy?!

Sceptile flicked its tail, accidentally knocking a Growlithe to the ground, then crossed its arms, looking down on the group from a distance.

Despite its seemingly rude behavior, Sceptile wasn't really using much force.

It wasn't the type to bully the weak.

The little ones were initially welcoming, but Sceptile's cold gaze scared them off, keeping their distance.

However, not all were intimidated.

Growlithe, unaware of Sceptile's reluctance, continued to pester it, licking the round jewels on its back.

Scraggy and Pawniard, too, fearlessly locked gazes with Sceptile.

Sceptile pushed Growlithe away, acknowledging Scraggy and Pawniard with approval before leaping onto a tree to nap alone, clearly uninterested in the others.

Besides Dak and Darkrai, the Mystery Hatchery House had no one else Sceptile deemed worthy of recognition.

Dak's Conqueror's Haki and the system's affinity probably played a role in earning some approval from Sceptile.

Below the tree, Growlithe was still contemplating how to climb up and play with Sceptile.

"Dak, what's with that guy?"

"Boss, what Pokémon is that? I'll look it up in the Pokédex."

Bon Clay and Robin asked in succession.

"That's Sceptile, our new partner. You've seen his personality; he prefers not to associate with the weaker ones. But he's not a bad kid. Just let him be; he's always been like that."

Dak explained briefly.

He didn't plan to force Sceptile to make friends. Each Pokémon has its own way of living, and they shouldn't be forced to change.
