Chereads / I Just Want To Live A Peaceful life in Another World! / Chapter 10 - For The Harvest Dance Festival (2)

Chapter 10 - For The Harvest Dance Festival (2)

As I waited for Amelia, I couldn't help but grow increasingly impatient. A minute felt like an eternity, and I couldn't shake off the curiosity about what was taking her so long.

The system chimed in, offering me the option to peek into what Amelia was up to.

{Would you like me to inform you of Amelia-san's current activity?} the system inquired, its mechanical voice breaking the silence.

I shook my head vigorously, dismissing the idea. "No, no, no," I muttered to myself, cheeks flushed with embarrassment at the mere thought of spying on her.

"She's probably just changing or something. I don't want to accidentally peep again." With a nervous chuckle, I tried to shake off the awkwardness of the situation, eagerly awaiting her return.

I scrolled through my skill list, marveling at the vast array of abilities at my disposal. There were skills for combat, skills for crafting, skills for utility – you name it, I had it. From "Fireball" to "Teleportation," and from "Cooking" to "Smithing," the possibilities seemed endless. Each skill came with its description, detailing its effects and usage.

As I perused the list, I couldn't help but imagine all the ways I could use these skills to my advantage. Maybe I could use "Wind Manipulation" to create a refreshing breeze on a hot day, or perhaps "Illusion" to play harmless pranks on unsuspecting villagers. The possibilities were endless, and I couldn't wait to put them to the test.

Lost in thought, I didn't notice the time passing until I heard a voice behind me. It was Amelia, looking slightly flustered as she approached.

Amelia returned with a new outfit that could make even the flowers jealous. Her dress flowed like a gentle breeze, and her hair seemed to dance in the sunlight. As she approached, she tried to hide something behind her back, but I caught a glimpse of it and my curiosity was instantly piqued.

"What's that you're hiding, Amelia?" I asked, unable to contain my curiosity.

She blushed slightly, her cheeks turning a rosy hue. "N-nothing!" she stammered, attempting to deflect my question.

But I wasn't about to let it go that easily. With a mischievous grin, I activated my X-ray skill, and to my surprise – and slight horror – I was met with the sight of a skeletal version of Amelia.

"What are you doing?!" Amelia exclaimed.

I quickly turned off the skill, trying to play it cool despite the image still fresh in my mind. "Just checking if you had any hidden treasures," I joked, though the memory of the skeleton lingered in the back of my mind.

Amelia rolled her eyes, but couldn't hide a small smile. "Come on, let's get going. We've got herbs to gather," she said, handing me one of the baskets.

As we set out on our herb-gathering adventure, the villagers waved us off, their voices carrying wishes of good luck and successful harvests.

"Good luck, you two! Bring back a bountiful harvest!" one of the villagers called out.

"May the spirits of the forest guide your hands!" another added, their voice filled with hope.

Amelia glanced back at the villagers with a warm smile. "They're so kind, aren't they?" she remarked.

I nodded in agreement. "Yeah, they are. It's nice to feel so welcomed," I replied, returning their smiles with a wave of my own.

I couldn't help but find it amusing – here they were, praying to their gods for a successful haul, while little did they know, I was a god myself. But who was I to ruin their beliefs? I just wanted to live a peaceful life, free from the chaos of my past adventures.

Amelia shot me a curious glance, perhaps sensing my amusement.

"What's so funny?" she asked, her tone tinged with curiosity.

"Oh, nothing," I replied with a chuckle, shaking my head.

"Just thinking about how different things are here compared to where I come from."

Amelia nodded, seemingly satisfied with my response.

"Well, let's focus on the task at hand. We've got herbs to gather," she said, a determined glint in her eye.

With a nod of agreement, we continued on our journey, the sounds of the village fading into the distance behind us. Despite the quirks of village life, I couldn't help but feel content in this moment, surrounded by nature and good company. Perhaps this slow-paced life was exactly what I needed after all.

And so, our journey began as we entered the lush expanse of the Enchanted Sylvan Woods.

"Wow, it's so beautiful here," I remarked, marveling at the towering trees and the vibrant colors of the forest.

Amelia nodded in agreement, her eyes sparkling with wonder.

"It's like stepping into another world," she said, her voice filled with awe.

As we ventured deeper into the woods, the air grew thick with the scent of earth and foliage. Sunlight filtered through the canopy above, casting dappled shadows on the forest floor.

"I hope we can find all the herbs on Seraphina's list," Amelia said, her brows furrowing in concentration.

"Don't worry, we've got this," I reassured her, mustering up as much confidence as I could.

As we trudged forward, the silence between us grew palpable until Amelia finally spoke up.

"You know," she began, "maybe we should split up. We'll cover more ground that way."

My eyebrow raised slightly at her suggestion. "Split up? But won't we get lost?" I questioned, trying to sound innocent despite knowing I could easily teleport back to the village.

Amelia let out a mocking laugh. "Babysitting you is going to be more trouble than I thought," she remarked, her tone laced with sarcasm.

I felt a twinge of offense at her words, but I quickly brushed it off. "Hey, I'm not that helpless," I protested weakly.

Amelia pointed to the red markings on the trees around us. "See those?" she said, gesturing towards the symbols.

"Those are our village's markers. They'll lead us back home."

I blinked in confusion, then nodded in understanding. "Ah, right. Of course," I said, mentally kicking myself for forgetting such a basic detail.

Amelia handed me half of the list, along with a playful smirk and a wish for good luck.

"You'll need it," she added, unable to resist a teasing jab.

I rolled my eyes in response, feeling a mix of irritation and amusement at her antics.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence," I retorted, my tone dripping with sarcasm.

With a mock salute, Amelia turned on her heel and headed off in the opposite direction, leaving me to tackle my portion of the task alone. I sighed heavily, resigned to my fate, and set off into the dense foliage of the Enchanted Sylvan Woods.

 As I ventured deeper into the forest, I stumbled upon a series of signs marking the paths to various herbs. With a smug grin, I pondered to myself, "You're probably wondering how I can read signs in a different language, right?" I paused for dramatic effect before continuing,

"Well, thanks to my {Divine Intelligence skill}, I can basically speak all the languages available. Pretty convenient, huh?"

Chuckling at my own cleverness, I followed the signs with ease, confident in my ability to navigate the unfamiliar terrain. As I walked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement at the prospect of discovering the herbs needed for the harvest dance festival. Who knew that being a god could come with such handy perks?

As I ventured further along the path, my eyes lit up with excitement as I spotted the first herb on our list: the Dreamberries. These berries were a vibrant shade of purple, with a glossy sheen that seemed to shimmer in the dappled sunlight filtering through the trees. Each berry was plump and juicy, practically begging to be plucked.

I couldn't resist reaching out to grab one, marveling at its soft texture and sweet aroma.

"Wow, these Dreamberries look even better than I imagined!"

I exclaimed to myself, unable to contain my enthusiasm.

With a gleeful chuckle, I scooped up a generous handful of Dreamberries, thinking it better to have too many than too few.

"Can't go wrong with a little extra, right?" I muttered to myself, justifying my impulsive decision.

As I pondered my next move, the helpful System chimed in, offering its assistance.

{Would you like to know the current locations of the Firefern herbs?} it asked.

I couldn't help but grin at the convenience. "Of course!" I replied eagerly, nodding along with the System's suggestion.

In an instant, the System displayed a series of pinpoints across the forest, indicating the whereabouts of the Firefern herbs. Grateful for its aid in our herb-gathering adventure.

"Looks like we've got our work cut out for us,"

Feeling the weight of laziness settling in, I couldn't help but wonder if there was an easier way to gather the Firefern herbs without all the trekking. So, I turned to my trusty System for assistance.

"Hey, System," I called out, "are there any skills that can help me grab objects from a distance?"

Without skipping a beat, the System responded,

{Yes, indeed! There's a skill available on the Skill Hub that might be just what you're looking for}

My curiosity piqued, and I quickly accessed the Skill Hub and scrolled through the options. Sure enough, there it was: the {Telekinesis} skill, a godsend for lazy herb gatherers like myself.

A grin spread across my face as I selected the skill, eager to give it a try. With Telekinesis in my arsenal, gathering the Firefern herbs would be a breeze. Time to put this newfound power to the test!

The System chimed in once more, introducing another option:

{There is another option of ability you might like}

I raised an eyebrow.

"Go on"

{the Creation skill}

"Aha! So there's a Creation skill too?" I exclaimed, intrigued by the possibilities.

"Creating the Firefern herbs out of thin air does sound pretty cool."

With a determined nod, I activated the {Creation skill} channeling my energy to conjure the Firefern herb. However, as the herb materialized before me, I realized I had no idea what it looked like.

"Hmm, this could be a problem," I muttered to myself, scratching my head in frustration. But then, a brilliant idea struck me.

"System, can you show me a picture of the Firefern herb?"

The System promptly complied, displaying an image of the herb along with a brief description.

{The Firefern herb} the System announced,

{is easily recognizable by its vibrant red leaves that resemble flickering flames. Its stem bears small orange flowers, giving it a fiery appearance. Be cautious, though, as its essence can ignite in certain conditions}

"Ah, perfect!" I exclaimed, relieved at the sight of the herb. It had vibrant red leaves that seemed to emit a faint glow, and its stem was adorned with tiny orange flowers. "Now I know what to create."

With a focused mind, I closed my eyes and concentrated on materializing the Firefern herb. As I opened my eyes, there it was, in all its fiery glory, resting in my palm. A triumphant grin spread across my face as I repeated the process, creating more Firefern herbs with ease.

{Wow, you're getting the hang of that Creation skill}

the System chimed in, its voice filled with approval.

I chuckled softly, feeling a sense of accomplishment.

"Thanks, System. It's certainly coming in handy."

As I moved on to gather the Whispergrass and Frostbloom, I repeated the same process. Consulting the System for images and descriptions, I focused my concentration and materialized each herb one by one.

The Whispergrass appeared delicate and ethereal, its slender stems swaying gently as if caught in a soft breeze. Its pale green hue shimmered faintly, giving off a soothing aura.

Next, the Frostbloom materialized before me, its petals gleaming with a frosty sheen. Each delicate bloom seemed to exude a chilly breath, reminiscent of a crisp winter morning. Its icy blue petals contrasted beautifully against the vibrant green of the Whispergrass.

With each successful creation, I couldn't help but marvel at the wonders of the {Creation skill}. The System's guidance made the process surprisingly simple, and soon, I had gathered an ample supply of Whispergrass and Frostbloom.

I settled down on a mossy patch beneath the shade of a towering oak tree, content with my successful herb-gathering venture. With a satisfied smile, I leaned back and gazed up at the dappling sunlight filtering through the leaves.

As I waited for Amelia's return, my mind wandered, contemplating the events of the day. The forest around me buzzed with life, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of tranquility wash over me.

With a furrowed brow, I glanced around the forest, growing increasingly concerned by Amelia's prolonged absence. Despite my initial reluctance to intrude on her privacy, the nagging worry gnawing at my insides urged me to take action.

I chuckled to myself, entertained by the notion of telecommunication being a trend in this quaint, rustic world. Oh, how convenient it would be if we could simply whip out our enchanted smartphones and send a quick message or track each other's locations with a tap of the screen.

Alas, such modern luxuries were but a distant dream in this realm, where magic and nature reigned supreme. Here, communication was limited to face-to-face interaction and the occasional message delivered by bird or messenger.

Yet, as I pondered the absurdity of my musings, a mischievous idea took root in my mind. What if I could somehow harness the power of magic to create my own form of telecommunication? The possibilities were endless, and the prospect of revolutionizing communication in this world filled me with excitement.

As I shook my head, dismissing the idea of creating a form of telecommunication, Upon hearing the system's response, I shook my head, dismissing the idea of relying on technology for communication.

"Nah, it's too much hassle," I muttered, emphasizing my preference for the simplicity of nature.

However, my statement seemed to affect the system, as its voice chimed in, carrying a hint of hurt. My eyes widened in surprise, realizing I had unintentionally offended the system.

{OW}

"Oh, sorry about that," I quickly apologized, feeling a twinge of guilt.

"I didn't mean to upset you. It's just... I appreciate your help and all, but I guess I'm more of an old-fashioned guy, you know?"

There was a moment of silence before the system responded, its tone slightly subdued. I made a mental note to be more considerate of its feelings in the future, even if I preferred the rustic charms of nature to the complexities of technology.

Summoning my {Remote Viewing skill}, I closed my eyes and focused on Amelia's location. A moment later, my consciousness drifted through the ether, reaching out to find her amidst the dense foliage.

Through the hazy veil of my mind's eye, I caught sight of Amelia, trudging wearily through the underbrush, her brow furrowed in concentration. She seemed lost in thought, oblivious to my spectral presence.

Curiosity piqued, I delved deeper, my ethereal form trailing after her like a ghostly shadow. With each passing moment, I grew more captivated by her determined stride and unwavering resolve.

Suddenly, my reverie was shattered by a sharp crackling noise, jolting me back to reality. Startled, I stumbled, my connection to Amelia severed in an instant.

Cursing under my breath, I shook my head in frustration. It seemed my attempt at espionage had been foiled by some unseen force, leaving me none the wiser about Amelia's whereabouts.

Resigned to my fate, I resolved to wait patiently for her return, hoping against hope that she would emerge from the depths of the forest unscathed. After all, in a world as unpredictable as this, anything was possible.

Hours passed, and as I spied on Amelia once more, my heart pounded with worry, and my concern only grew as I witnessed her grim expression. With a furrowed brow, I turned around, only to find her surrounded by a pack of wild demon beasts.

The creatures were unlike anything I had ever seen before. Their bodies were covered in sleek, midnight-black fur, and their eyes glowed with an eerie red light, reflecting their predatory nature. Sharp claws and fangs gleamed menacingly in the dim forest light, and their low growls sent shivers down my spine.

Amelia stood her ground, her expression determined despite the danger that surrounded her.

As Amelia shouted for me to get back, I felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through my veins. The beasts slowly advanced towards her, their menacing forms casting eerie shadows in the dim forest.

Amelia's eyes began to water, her fear palpable even from a distance.

"I don't want to die," she whispered, her voice trembling with fear. In desperation, she called out the names of her loved ones, her last plea for help echoing through the trees.

As she closed her eyes, I could hear the names of her loved ones tumble from her lips—"Seraphina, Dad, mom". And then, almost as an afterthought, she called out my name, "Noir-san," with a mixture of desperation and hope.

{Would you like to use Teleportation to reach Amelia's location?}

With a determined smile, I nodded, my eyes glowing with a newfound resolve. The system chimed in, offering me the option to use Teleportation to reach Amelia's location. Without hesitation, I agreed.

In an instant, I vanished from where I stood, reappearing beside Amelia in a flash of light. She looked up at me with wide eyes, a mixture of relief and surprise written across her face.

"Don't worry, Amelia," I said with a reassuring smile. "I'm here now."
