Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Beginning of the End (Prologue Part I)

The Sun was shining as bright as ever, as it glared its beams over the land of Feltivia. Two young brothers were running amongst the green fields of their family's castle. The grass was as green as can be and covered with meadows of flowers blooming with beauty. Yoshido was the eldest of the brothers who is eight years old. Akio was the younger brother who is six years old. The two brothers were a part of the Royal Family, which is the current family that has one of its members as the emperor.

"Akio, wait up!" said Yoshido. "We have to be back inside soon so Papa can tell us the story".

"Papa" is what Yoshido and Akio call their grandfather, Namako, the current emperor of Feltivia. Feltivia is a vast land that is made up of five nations from far and wide. To the north lies the nation of Wendur, in a cold and snowy biome toward the mountains. Towards the northeast lies the nation of Marenia, a very windy and cool plains. The nation to the southeast is Candes, a nation towards the wilderness of forest and rivers. Southwest is where the nation of Vasketta resides. A nation near an arid desert with deep valleys and little vegetation. Lastly, Nyrmyn to the northwest, is a nation near the Great Ocean. Rainy and cold temperatures dominate this area of land.

In the center of all the nations lies the Imperial Capitol, where the Royal Family lives. Inside of the Capitol is where the Royal Army, which is the strongest army in the land, resides. Thriving businesses, banks, as well as markets all populate the Imperial Capitol. Surrounded by walls one hundred feet high, the Capitol is a very secure and heavily guarded place. The Royal Family's castle resides towards the back of the Capitol, next to the Royal Army training grounds. All men who wish to become members of the army are sent here to undergo intense training. From fitness tests, to weapon training, to battle formation practice; the Royal Army thrives to be the best.

The training grounds are made up of four main areas: The blacksmith, barracks, training course, and battlefield practice. All weapons and armor for the Royal Army is forged at the blacksmith. The barracks is where troops that are undergoing the training process eat and sleep. Once they finish the training process and become soldiers, they can go back to staying at their homes. The training course is where men practice their combat and fitness capabilities. Lastly, the practice field for battles is where the army undergoes battle formation tactics and simulates real war situations. With the funds and training to support it, the Royal Army becomes the strongest military in Feltivia.

Every five years, there is a Royal Selection process that decides who will become the new emperor of Feltivia. Each nation elects their most promised candidate to compete in the Royal Selection. Due to high popularity and vast military power, the Royal Family of Miura has won for generations. The Miura family is what Yoshido and Akio are a part of. As we go back to the brothers, the two boys proceed to run back inside their family's castle to find their grandfather. The Castle is mighty and can be seen from miles away as it sits on an elevated position in the Capitol. With guards at every corner, a mouse couldn't sneak in without being detected.

The tall and mighty castle was decorated with expensive family heirlooms. Paintings of past emperors, generals, and family members were all upon the walls while chandeliers hung from the ceilings. Beautiful red carpets covered the floors and traveled down each long hallway.

"Yoshido, Papa's probably in the Throne Hall." said Akio.

The two brothers approached the hallway that led to the throne hall. Down the hallway was filled with Royal Guards on each side that were protected with shining gold armor and armed with deadly sharp swords. Yoshido and Akio approached the door leading to the Throne Hall, as the Royal Guards let them pass through.

Sitting on the throne was Emperor Namako Miura, an elderly man with a gray beard that hung down to his chest. His skin was wrinkled and covered with liver spots as he approached his seventies. The Emperor's golden crown shines bright as a star, while being covered with flawless gemstones. As the two brothers run up to him, Emperor Namako smiles with a warm look on his face.

"Ah, my precious boys, what is it that I can help you with?"

"Papa, you said you'd tell us the story about the titans." said Akio.

"Ah yes, you're right. As I reach my elderly days, I tend to become forgetful."

The brothers sat in Namako's lap and smile as he begins to tell them the story of the titans.

The Emperor clears his throat and begins the story. "Ahem. A long time ago, over many millennia, there were ten mighty titans who ruled over the lands. Titans were the most powerful beings sent down by the gods to create a world where life could exist. Each titan harnessed the power of an element that existed within our world. The titans were massive and had enormous power. A titan could only be killed by a god or another titan."

"Cthulhu, the titan of the telekinetic element, had the head of an octopus with many tentacles. His giant purple wings on his back were almost the size of his entire body. His claws on his two arms and legs were razoring sharp and could cut anything with ease. The titan's eyes were a bright pink, and they allowed him to see into the minds of others. It was also said that Cthulhu could control others with his mind and make them see things that aren't there. An evil entity, Cthulhu was a terror."

"Cthulhu's greatest enemy was Hastur, the titan that possessed the power of the quantum element. Hastur controlled the power of space and time itself. Similar to Cthulhu, Hastur had an octopus-like head with tentacles but had tentacles for legs. You could never see his face as he wore a yellow robe with a hood, and carried an amulet that let him travel through space. His purple eyes and tentacles were all you could see of his face. Hastur and Cthulhu were the most powerful titans that struggled to coexist with each other." Namako said.

"Woah! Why did Hastur and Cthulhu hate each other Papa?" said Yoshido curiously.

"Cthulhu wanted to rule the universe, but knew Hastur would never allow him to.", replied Emperor Namako. "Cthulhu always planned on ways to defeat Hastur, despite failing time after time. Hastur could control the fabric of space and gravity, which made him very powerful."

Yoshido and Akio looked at each other in awe as they had a gleam in their eyes from excitement.

"I hope Cthulhu never beats Hastur." exclaimed Yoshido.

Akio shouted out "No way, Cthulhu seems way cooler than Hastur is, and he can totally read your mind."

Emperor Namako laughs and as he's about to continue the story, the door of the Throne Hall opens abruptly. Inward walks Yoshido and Akio's father Arakan. Arakan is the current general of the Royal Army. As he walks down the checkered floor towards the throne, his heavy boots create loud echoing footsteps. His golden armor was heavy and sturdy with his sword, Alvionon, tucked away in its scabbard. A smile comes across Arakan's face as he sees his sons and father enjoying themselves.

"Father, being bothered by my two troublemakers again?" Arakan says as he chuckles.

Emperor Namako smiles and says "How is the collection of emeralds coming along?"

"Things are moving very swiftly, as we're almost finished cleaning out the cave north of here." Arakan exclaimed. "We ran into a small problem with a few hostile ogres but, there were no casualties on our side."

Arakan was a man who carried himself well as he's well respected for his leadership and bravery. Him being the Royal Army general often made him busy, so Yoshido and Akio were with their mother a lot.

"Very well.", said Namako. "See forth that the emeralds are collected and sent to Wendur to be cleaned and polished."

"Yes, my lord.", said Arakan as he bows his head and prepares to leave the Throne Hall.

"Also, I want to speak with you in private during the evening." says Namako.

Arakan nods his head and exits the throne hall.

"Papa continue the story!" exclaims Akio.

"Ah yes. Where was I now?", Namako says as he tried to remember where he left off. "Oh right, as I was saying. Cthulhu and Hastur were the strongest titans, but there were eight more. Each titan represented and harnessed each element."

"The element of fire was harnessed by the phoenix, Avogadro. With an incredible wingspan and body covered in flames, Avogadro could be seen from any distance in the sky. It lived on top of the once Jumbali Volcano that erupted thousands of years ago. Able to raze the lands in fire, Avogadro was very powerful. It was also the creator of fire and heat. It has been said that the phoenix's body was over ten thousand degrees Fahrenheit."

"The element of ice belonged to Numbaya, the great frost ape. With sheer cold temperatures below zero, Numbaya lived in the snowy mountains. Its roar could be heard from across all the lands as well as sound waves from its chest pounding. The ape's massive arms and icy fists could smash mountains. It created ice as well as the season of winter. With big shards of ice down its back, Numbaya was very tough."

"Achak was the elemental possessor of the spirit element. The spirit wolf was the arbiter of souls. As it lived deep in the quiet forests, Achak's howl in the night could be heard from across the lands. It created souls and the afterlife. The wolf's teal glow could light up the night sky. Achak could smell anything from miles away and could judge a type of being by feeling its aura."

"The element of nature was owned by Okeanos, the mighty tree titan. Okeanos was nature, as he created the life of plants and animals. Being able to control weather, Okeanos provided a way for life to prosper. It's said that the titan could be everywhere at once as long as nature thrived there. The colossal titan had strength to topple entire forests."

"Azure was the titan that harnessed the element of darkness, as it spread shadow and fear over the land. An entity of true terror, it's said that Azure's true form is unknown. It has the ability to transform into your greatest fear."

Yoshido and Akio look at each other and take a big gulp, as the fear in their face is very apparent.

Emperor Namako smiles and says "Don't worry, the two of you will always be safe in our kingdom. But the titan that possesses the element of lightning is Kanos, the voltage dragon."

"It's capable of producing powerful storms. They say that Kanos created thunderstorms, and it's lightning bolts can light up the night sky. With a very long body that has gigantic wings, there are bolts of lightning constantly coming from it's body. The last two titans were Terratorv, the golem of the Earth element, and Eicheeri, the serpent of the nine winds that controls the wind element. Terratorv created land with his colossal size and could also create tremors and earthquakes. Eicheeri created the wind and atmosphere and has the power to create devastating tornados."

"What happened to all the titans?" said Yoshido.

"One day Cthulhu schemed of a way to become the strongest being, by using his telekinetic powers to make all the other titans believe that the others were plotting to destroy them. This caused a ferocious battle amongst the eight titans as they caused chaos across the lands. Tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes erupting were spilling disaster as the titans tried to destroy each other. Hastur noticed the anarchy that was becoming of the lands and knew Cthulhu was behind it."

"As Hastur came down, he attempted to halt all of the chaos happening. Cthulhu saw this as a perfect opportunity to try to eliminate Hastur. He launched a powerful beam of telekinetic power towards Hastur, but Hastur anticipated the attack and used his amulet to deflect the attack. This resulted in the fabric of space becoming distorted, and ultimately banishing each titan to a small crystal form. The crystals were scattered across the lands, said to be lost forever.", said Emperor Namako.

Yoshido and Akio jumped up from excitement as the story blew their minds. Emperor Namako chuckles as seeing is grandsons excited brings a smile to his face.

" Has anyone ever found a crystal before Papa?", said Akio.

Emperor Namako says "It is unknown whether the myth is true or not. That being said, they say that humans can possess the power of the elemental crystal they find if they are worthy."

The two brothers become ecstatic as they run out of the throne hall saying "let's go find the crystals!". The Emperor smiles as he sees the two brothers excited.

Though Emperor Namako told the two brothers that the myth of the titans is unknown, he knew the true answer. One secret of the Royal Family Miura is that they are in possession of the telekinetic crystal. They keep it a secret from the outside world, as the knowledge of the myth being true would stir chaos to the public. Many people would search for the crystals and use their power for their selfish gain. Others may try to sell them and make a fortune off them. The only members of the Royal Family that know of the telekinetic crystal currently are Namako and Arakan.

The telekinetic crystal was obtained 150 years ago from an ancestor of the Miura family. It was during the Great War of Candes, where the current Royal Army was fighting against the Uutami tribe. A war started as the Imperial Capitol wanted to expand their land into the territory of the Uutami tribe. The war lasted 6 months as both sides suffered many casualties, but ultimately the Imperial Capitol won the war.

Shigure Miura was the current general of the Royal Army at the time. As he walked with his commanding officers through a sea of weapons and bodies, he takes a deep breath. "This bloodshed is over at last. The Uutami tribe surrendered and retreated into the forests." he said.

" Shall we search for any surviving warriors and bring them back for questioning sir?" one of the commanding officers said.

" Yes, carry on." General Shigure says as he removes his helmet.

As he looks all around him, countless bloodied dead bodies as well as shields and swords were scattered over the battlefield. Looking forward, the General sees a forest with ruins about two hundred feet ahead. He puts his helmet back on his head and draws his sword as he approaches these ruins.

"There might be remaining survivors finding salvation here." he thought to himself.

Shigure approaches the ruins and has his sword steadily raised as he's ready for any possible enemy ambush. Mossy, and cracked stones made up the ruins as the heavily dense forest surrounded it. Taking careful steps, he begins to enter the entrance slowly. The ruins was dark and quiet. The only source of light was coming from the cracked stone ceilings as the sun created small beams that passed through. His footsteps echoed as his boots created faint claps when they hit the cold stone floor.

As General Shigure carefully peers around each corner, he reached the end of the ruins without anyone being present. Just as he was about to turn back and exit, he saw a faint pink glow coming from under some rubble. "What's this?", he muttered as he walks toward the pink glow. Shigure moves the stone fragments away and is dumbfounded by what he sees. "Could this truly be what I think it is?". The General rubs his eyes as he thinks they're deceiving him, but in reality he's found the telekinetic crystal.

He puts the crystal in his back pocket and continues to exit the ruins.

"Did you find any refugees in those ruins sir?" a commanding officer says as he sees Shigure returning.

"Nothing but stone and moss. Let's regroup and head back to the barracks."

General Shigure is still processing that he came across one of the elemental crystals. To him, this meant that the myth of the titans is real and the other crystals are somewhere across Feltivia. He knew that if the world found out that the myth is true then chaos would erupt. Shigure decided to keep the knowledge of the telekinetic crystal to himself.

As they returned to the barracks, the army celebrated winning the war. All the soldiers were drinking and laughing as music was being played. Some soldiers were overly tipsy and struggling to maintain their balance.

"Listen up lads!", shouts a commanding officer. " I'd like to dedicate a toast to our magnificent General Shigure. Without his undying willpower and bravery, this war would've been far from over."

The whole army cheers and throws their hats in the air as they continue their celebration.

Shigure smiles and laughs as he lifts his drink up and says, "To all our brave brothers who've fallen to support our cause."

Later that night, all the soldiers headed back to their homes. As Shigure leaves as well, he pulls out the telekinetic crystal and gazes at it. With such beauty, the crystal glowed a bright pink color and radiated a small vibration. "The power within this must be extraordinary." Shigure thought to himself. He had no idea how to harness the power of the crystal. The General returned to the castle and visited the current emperor.

The current emperor of this time was a man named Yeltion Gavon. Shigure is married to his daughter Nelsia, making him his son-in-law. The General enters the Throne Hall and approaches Yeltion.

"What is it that you seek, General?" says The Emperor.

"I have something urgent I must speak with you about, my lord.". Shigure reaches into a pouch in his jacket and pulls out the telekinetic crystal.

An astonished look became of Yeltion's face. "Do my eyes deceive me? Where did you find this crystal Shigure?!"

"After searching the battlefield for survivors, I stumbled across a ruins that had potential refugees, so I explored it carefully. Just as I thought it was empty, I saw a faint pink glow under a bunch of stone fragments. I approached it and found the crystal there, my lord."

Yeltion's face was astonished as he took a closer look at the telekinetic crystal. "Do you know what this means? Shigure if we can harness this power of the crystal, we can assure to never lose this throne and then you will succeed me. The empire we could build would be immaculate in every sense. The strongest military force, the most flourishing economy, and we'll be the wealthiest people in all the lands!"

"We mustn't tell anyone of this, my lord." exclaimed Shigure. "If the public knew that the crystals were real, there would be anarchy and mayhem as everyone would try to find them and take their power. Not even we know how to harness its power yet, so I think we should keep it between ourselves for the time being."

Yeltion understood the possible catastrophe that awaited the world if news of this came to light. "Very well, General. We'll keep it between the two of us to eliminate any possible sources finding out about this. In the meantime let's keep it in the castle somewhere safe. I can put it where I keep my family heirlooms and jewelry so no one can access it."

Shigure bowed his head and left the rest to Yeltion. The possibility of immense power flooded the Emperor's mind with greed, as he knew he'd become the most powerful being if he attained the power of the telekinetic crystal.

Not just any person can harness the power of an elemental crystal, however. Their heart and soul must be coherent with the crystal they are trying to possess. Yeltion and Shigure weren't able to possess the power of the telekinetic crystal because they weren't compatible. The telekinetic crystal requires you to have a heart and soul that knows envy and passion. Just like each other elemental crystal, they also require the user's heart and soul to intertwine with it.

The quantum crystal requires your heart and soul to know balance and empathy. The power this crystal gives you can make you manipulate gravity, open rifts in the space-time, and use immense force to move any type of matter at your will. While the telekinetic crystal allows you to see into the minds of others, move objects with your mind, and inflict damage and pain on others without having to move. The crystals are very powerful objects and possessors must know the power they possess. The only way for someone to lose compatibility with a crystal is for them to die. The crystal will then exit their body in the form of energy and return to its solid form, opposed to entering your body as energy if you're found compatible.

For the fire crystal, your heart and soul must know fiery vengeance. The crystal allows the user to control fire, resist any hot temperature, and allow heat to create force that makes any type of attack or movement very powerful. The ice crystal demands your heart and soul know the cold emptiness of grief. While being resilient to any cold temperatures, being able to create anything from ice, and lowering your body temperature that makes anything touch you freeze, the ice crystal is a fierce object. Each elemental crystal requires energy from the user to use its elemental capabilities.

The crystal of spirit needs a heart and soul that has faith and spiritual belief. It will allow you to enter the bodies of others temporarily, sense a person's soul when they come near you, and create spiritual embodiments of animals that allow you to have their vision. The elemental crystal of nature requires you to have a heart and soul of kindness and gratitude. It can give the user the ability to manipulate nature at their will, communicate with all life, and heal themselves or others. If an elemental possessor masters all abilities of their element, they can summon the titan.

The darkness crystal requires a heart and soul free of fear and mercy. The user can create shadowy versions of themselves, morph into whatever they come into contact with, and disappear into darkness. The lightning crystal requires someone coherent with having a heart and soul that is cheerful and alert. Possessing the power of lightning can make you manipulate lightning itself, move at extreme speeds, and create light itself. Each elemental possessor has more energy and power capabilities in an area that corresponds to their element. Ice would have a huge edge in freezing temperatures and fire in hot temperatures, and so forth.

The last two element crystals: wind requires you to have a free and adventurous heart and soul. This crystal can make you control the power of wind, fly and levitate, and also create storms. The earth elemental crystal requires a person with a heart and soul of pure willpower and determination. Being able to harness the element of earth gives you immense physical strength, the ability to move land and create fissures, and harden any part of your body to rock-hard strength to take any blow. If you summon a titan and it's defeated, it will return to you as energy but will also drain you of your elemental capabilities for a short while.

Heading back to modern day, we follow Akio and Yoshido running out of the castle in excitement to look for crystals. As they exit the castle, they see a line of men and women in shackles walking toward the front of the castle. Dirty and malnourished, you can see the people haven't eaten in a few days. Royal guards led them into the castle toward the dungeon.

" I wonder what that was about?" says Akio.

Yoshido shrugs his shoulder and says "Maybe they're the farmers that papa is gonna hire to get our veggies and fruits."

As Yoshido started to look around, he noticed that all the workers on the fields were dirty and malnourished. There were guards everywhere watching them work so they wouldn't slack off . Tired from lack of food, the workers knew they would be punished severely if they were to slack off. A punishment of even possibly death. Yoshido knew something wasn't right about all these people working in harsh conditions. He then began to question the way things worked around the castle and in the Royal Family.
