[KIYOMI]
In her years as a specialist in Doiwa, Kiyomi Kimura had never thought that such a day would come. It was something that was so unreal and made no sense and while her first instinct should have been to run, this time, she wanted to see where this was headed.
He had seen so many things happen with the Lycans and wolves and the humans but none had ever gotten to this magnitude. It just didn't make any sense. The fact that the specialists were Lycans did nothing to ease her tension.
This was absurd in all the ways possible. It just didn't make any sense and yet she was still expected to meet them halfway – whatever the fuck was she even supposed to say to this then?
"Did they say who sent them from Doiwa?" Kiyomi asked Nurse Derah who just shook her head. Then again, Kiyomi had to remind herself that this was just a human who had no idea about the very existence of Lycans. Perhaps it was safer for them like that, right?
"Well, wish me luck aye," Kiyomi said with a smile even though deep down she was feeling the weight of the stars of the doctor specialists. She didn't know why they had come here like this and she was not sure that the realm would have been better without them.
And the Doiwa group of hospitals? Kiyomi wanted to call the bluff on the name until she thought back to the hospital that her erasthai had taken her to. Her mate was something else.
But as always, Kiyomi had to be careful because there was no telling if these Lycans were from Saki or if they had been sent by the very people who despised her last name and wanted her head for the sins of her family.
"Kimura-Watanabe," Kiyomi introduced herself when she got to the doctors. She had been half expecting them to burst out laughing, because that's what the Bogdan Lycans would have done.
They hated her with every ounce of their being and they would always make her feel the worst of all things. A moment passed, then two, and Kiyomi dared to hope that this was because of Sakura.
She had to, because otherwise she would go crazy and a lot of lives would be lost, which was her intention here at Odanera. One scandal that had her name at the forefront was already enough for her.
"Your majesty, greetings," one of the doctors said and Kiyomi assumed that he was the one they had chosen to represent them.
The royal title was not something that Kiyomi wasn't accustomed to and she wasn't about to pretend that it made her feel giddy or shit. She never cared about power plays and she wasn't about to start today anyway.
"Hello, you asked for me," Kiyomi said, going straight to the point. She had a lot of surgeries that were waiting for her and she needed to get busy instead of socializing with these Lycans, no matter what their mission here was.
If they were here for her as part of the Bogdan horror she had struggled to escape, then she would tell them to let her conduct her surgeries of the week before they did to her whatever they wished.
There was only so many times that he could try to outrun her fate, however cruel and merciless it was.
"Her Royal Highness, Queen Sakura Watanabe sent us to be your aid. We are surgeons in different fields and some of us have combined expertise. She said you had a long list of pending surgeries that needed to be done and we had to show up here before sundown.
"I am Lemuel… Doctor Lemuel," the doctor who had been talking said that Kiyomi wasn't sure if she was supposed to smile or try to reach Sakura. She thought her erasthai would be this thoughtful and frankly it made her heart war.
But then again, how the hell did Sakura know that the hospital had so many pending surgeries and that Kiyomi had chosen to do them all on her own? Surely that had to be some wild-ass shit, right?
But then again, there was the chance that the mad queen had felt the stress of her mate and figured she would send help for her. It was interesting, truly and as Kiyomi stored at Lemuel, she couldn't help but wonder how Skai's brain worked.
The woman was kind and it was something that Kiomi wanted to get used to. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, right?
"Saki sent you? Damn," Kiyomi said, as she smiled at the idea. This was more heartwarming than anything that Saki had done for her over the past seven months and it made Kiki want to run into Sakura's arms… but she wasn't here.
"Yes, Your Majesty. How can we be of service?" Doctor Lemuel said and Kiyomi saw the other twelve capitalists with him perk up. The war was clearly exciting to be here and Kiki couldn't help but be thankful, truly.
"Come with me," Kiyomi said and silently, the specialists followed her to Doctor Zeydan's office. She was in charge of the operations of the hospital and Kiyomi had to make her defense with her for the sake of the patients and the backlog that they had there.
"Please wait for me in there. I'll get back to you," Kiyomi said when she got to her office.
She knew this would require a one-on-one with Doctor Zeydan and had an actual risk of being blacklisted by the hospital because no matter what happened it was obvious the Lycans wouldn't leave.
"Hey Kiki… Oh, hey, Lemuel, what's up?" Elif said and Kiyomi almost tripped on air. Of the things she had expected today, this was definitely not it. It was insane and so unexpected but interesting at the same time, because frankly, this was unreal. It had to be.
"Hello," Lemuel responded.
"Do you know each other?" Kiyomi asked curiously.
"Yeah, I dated his sister," Elif said casually and Kiyomi's eyes almost fell out of their sockets.
"By sister you mean…"
"Yup," Elif said casually like she hadn't spent weeks and months crying over a love that had ruined her.
It had been the one thing that had gotten Kiyomi so mad because Elif had refused to let her fight that woman for her and now, the universe was just playing an interesting game with them.
"You realize I haven't forgiven her for what she did to you, right?" Kiyomi whispered even though she knew that the Lycans could hear everything. She noticed how hard they were trying to stay neutral even though they were worried about being targets.
They hadn't traveled so far away from home only to come and be reduced to chicken nuggets by the queen consort who had their lives in her hands and could easily fuck them over and never face any consequences for whatever she had been planning to do to them.
"They are here for the hospital and not me… come on, sister. You'll have your time with them. Besides, aren't you going to introduce us?" Elif asked as she grabbed Kiki by her coat and turned her so that the woman was facing the apple doctors.
"Why you little—" Kiki began.
Elif suddenly stepped on her feet, making her sister hunch over in pain, something that didn't seem to bother Elif because she just smiled at the doctors, ignoring the possibility that her smile was creeping them out too.
"You're going to be nice and make an introduction, right, sister?" Elif asked once she had grabbed Kiyomi and helped her stand straight. The doctors were worried for Elif because they thought the queen wouldn't let shit happen to his erasthai.
However, when Kiyomi stood back up with a smile on her face, they weren't sure what to make of this because this wasn't what they had been prepared for.
"Of course. Everyone, this is my insufferable sister, Elif... Elif, everyone," Kiyomi said as she winced and decided to make her dramatics a little higher by whimpering in pain, an act that got the doctors rushing over to her.
"Your majesty, let us relieve you of the pain," Lemuel was the first to speak and Elif stared at Kiki in disbelief. She couldn't believe her sister was doing this to her and it was interesting but made her smack the good doctor at the back of her head.
"No worries, I have a clue on how to fix Lycan pains—" Elif began, her tone overly sweet and that was also how Kiyomi knew that she would like the idea at all. Her sister was always unhinged so whatever it was in her mind right now, did it sound like the best.
"On second thoughts, I am fine. I'll just go to Zeydan and tell her that you will be joining the different ORs to help with the surgeries for a month," Kiyomi said rushedly and Elif let out a laugh at how her sister was adamant about leaving.
"Are you sure about that, sweet sister? Last I checked, your pains have made your life harder. Who's to know if the Bogdan Lycans are waiting to see you on your knees so they can attack you again?" Elif said and Kiyomi groaned.
She knew that her sister was being a dick right now, and he wanted to see what would happen at the mention of the Bogdan Lycans. Just as Kiyomi thought, the doctors transformed into warriors.
Elif let out a shocked shriek.
"That's my cue to leave to Doctor Zeydan. Don't you dare lay a hand on her," Kiyomi I said sweetly. But even Elif could hear the underlying threat in Kiki's tone as she added, "And change back into your scrubs."
Then, Kiki left.
