Chapter 18 - I Am A Better Person...

[KIYOMI]

Looking into the mirror, Kiyomi didn't recognize the person staring back at her. She looked familiar, but only because to her, this was a replica of queen Sakura Watanabe. There was no way that she, a neurosurgeon who saved lives, could be a murderer.

It was not what she had planned for and right now as she stood there in the washroom, watching her hair covered in blood, her entire body in blood and patches of skin, Kiyomi felt disgusted.

For a moment she wondered if this was when she was meant to be, or if this was the person she would have to be to save herself from the Bogdan Lycans now that it was more than obvious that Sakura Watanabe wasn't going to be helping her with shit.

That woman was a selfish prick and Kiyomi couldn't quite understand what wrong she could have done in her past life for the fates to pair her up with the crazy queen who had all the screws too loose.

Maybe it was an adventure she would explore a few more times before she got the answer and boy was she not looking forward to any of it. There was no way she would accept this as her new normal. It just didn't sit right with her.

"I am better than her," Kiyomi said as she ran the tap to clean herself up. She wasn't sure what she was expecting when the blood didn't come off and it didn't seem like she could be done with it anytime soon.

Defeatedly, Kiyomi walked out of the washroom, her hair wet along with her clothes that she had failed to rid of the blood. She was aware that this was not going to be easy for her, but she also had to go to the hospital.

Then again, there was one other place she could go to, and clean up before she went to the hospital, seeing as whatever Sakura had told her was probably never going to be a reality and she was once again, hoping for nothing.

"Maybe if I cover myself up well, they wouldn't know, right?" Kiyomi whispered as she walked the hallways, pushing into every door, trying to see any room that could have better clothes for her.

She didn't care that the clothes would be masculine. This wouldn't be her first rodeo with an attempted camouflage. She had to survive nonetheless because no one was coming to save her and she had to know if what the mad queen had said held some truth to it.

"Oh, thank goodness," the good doctor sighed in relief when she found what looked like a bedroom. She knew she didn't have much time, so she rushed in, stripped herself bare, and then wiped herself with a white towel she borrowed from the closet.

It was messy by the time she was done, her heart breaking for the poor towel that now had patches of blood. But that was not as important as her road to safety. She needed to get out of there before more Russians came to check on their friends.

Dejectedly, Kiyomi changed into a black tux with a polo-neck shirt and a hat on her head. It wasn't what she had imagined, but she had to make do with what was available for her at the moment no matter how uncomfortable she felt.

"I can do this," Kiyomi breathed as she grabbed a pair of shoes that were a little oversized, but that didn't matter at the moment, because she needed to get out of there. So, she wore an extra sock, in the hope that it would hold the shoe from slipping and it worked.

Set and ready to leave the damned building, the good doctor hoped that she wouldn't find more people at the entrance, because then her daring plan of leaving would be doomed.

However, being the doctor with no good luck, she heard the sound of vehicles just when she was close to the door. More people had come like she expected and it didn't look good for her. But then what else could she do?

"Fuck," Kiyomi cursed as she rushed to hide in the nearest janitorial closet. She was worried they would smell the blood on her, but then the entire manor was filled with the stench of blood, so it wouldn't be hard on her end.

Kiyomi watched with bated breath as the men walked into the house, the stench of blood making them know that shit had gone down here. She could hear them calling out for their friends in Russian but she just didn't care anymore.

Thankfully, they didn't leave any of their friends in the vehicles in the hope of driving away, so when they were all inside the manor, Kiyomi sneaked out and rushed to one of the SUVs.

She still had her Lycan strength, so it was easy for her to break the windows and find herself a getaway SUV. Besides, the only thing she needed to do was get out of this hellhole. It didn't matter where she went, just as long as she wasn't here or around here.

Expectedly, when she hotwired the SUV and started driving away, she got the attention of the Ivanov men who were not expecting her to be someone on this side of the manor, seeing as everyone was dead.

"Step on it, Kiki," the doctor said to herself as she stepped on the gas, and drove faster than she ever thought possible. She just needed to be far from this place. Her Lycan magic was limited here and she needed to be at a distance so she could portal.

The Ivanov mob men were not relenting in their pursuit of her, given she was the only person they had seen alive from the manor. It was a risk for Kiyomi, but then she had better things to do.

So, when she was sure she was at a good distance, she jumped out of the moving SUV, created a portal, and disappeared through it, leaving the Ivanov men confused and unexpecting of the mess they had seen.

Thankfully, Kiyomi's getup didn't show whether she was a woman or a man. And with the damage done, it wasn't hard for Kiyomi to imagine that the mob would assume that they were bested by a man, never a woman.

The portal Kiyomi had created led her to Elif's house in Odanera city. She hated that this was how she was going to show back on her best friend's radar, but it wasn't like she could go to her house without risking people seeing her, right?

Thankfully, Elif was not home, or so Kiyomi thought when she got out of the damned clothes and headed to the bathroom. She needed a good shower and this was the only place that she imagined safe enough for her to have it.

"Did you leave the shower running, Elif?" Someone asked and Kiyomi stilled. Her Lycan hearing was useful in these times, but she wasn't sure if the person who was here with Elif could be trusted.

"It does that sometimes. I told you; I am too poor to even have a stable shower and you guys still don't believe me. Where the hell would I even hide Doctor Kiyomi? It's not like she would tell me where she went," Elif said and Kiyomi sighed.

Her friend was being harassed because of her and there wasn't much she could do about it at the moment. So, she hurriedly cleaned up, then dressed up in Elif's clothes, before she sneaked to where they were.

"I have told you a thousand times over. I don't know where the doctor is. I was sleeping in the resident rooms, where you found me and everyone in the hospital can corroborate my story.

"Now if you please, leave me alone and never come back here, or I'll file a lawsuit against you for harassment," Elif said, her tone dead serious and the officers sighed before they got up.

It was like they hadn't been expecting the doctor to threaten them, but then it wasn't as easy for Elif too as they thought.

"We'll leave for now. If we have any more questions, we will call you to the station," one of the officers said and Elif tsked before she grabbed her purse, got out what looked like a business card, and handed it to them.

"If you need me, talk to my lawyer. I will be busy saving lives in the hospital like any doctor does. Get out now," Elif said, shooing them away, before Elif slammed the door once they were out.

She was tired of them.

"Lord, the day drained me," Elif sighed, before gently adding, "You can come out now, Kiki."
