Chapter 273 - Chapter 204: Across the Spider-Verse (29)

Miguel takes a deep breath, his muscles tensing as he prepares for a fight. "Come On... You're outnumbered, Michael. Don't be stupid."

But Michael's grin only widens, his voice calm and unwavering. "If you think numbers are enough to stop me… then you clearly don't know who I am."

Spider-Man Red steps forward, cracking his knuckles. "Captain, you just tell me what to do."

Miles clenches his fists, standing taller beside Michael. "I'm not giving up either. I'll save my dad—no matter what."

The room feels like it's seconds away from exploding into chaos as both sides prepare to move. All eyes are on Michael and Miguel, knowing that their clash could decide the fate of the Spider-Verse itself.

....

Loe Halloway, the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., leans forward, his brow furrowed. "So you're telling me that in almost every outcome you saw, this Thanos guy plunges the world into chaos and wipes out half the population?"

Dr. Strange nods. "Yes, that's correct."

Loe's expression hardens. "Who exactly is this Thanos?"

Strange begins to explain, his voice grave. "Thanos is a warlord from the planet Titan. He's a member of an ancient and powerful race, but his own world was destroyed by overpopulation and resource scarcity. In response to witnessing his planet's demise, Thanos became obsessed with a twisted solution: balance. He believes that the only way to ensure the survival of life in the universe is to eliminate half of all living beings."

Loe Halloway listens intently, the weight of Strange's words sinking in. "So he wants to kill half the universe? Why? For some twisted sense of mercy?"

Strange nods, his eyes darkening as he continues. "In his mind, it's not just mercy—it's a necessity. He sees it as the only way to prevent the universe from collapsing under its own weight, just as his home world did. But there's more. Thanos has a plan to achieve his goal in one swift move—by collecting all six Infinity Stones."

Loe raises an eyebrow. "Infinity Stones?"

His eyes widen as a realization dawns on him. "You mean…"

Strange's curiosity piques. "You mean?"

Loe's mind races as the realization hits him. He abruptly turns on his heel, motioning for Dr. Strange to follow. "Come with me, we need to check something immediately."

Strange raises an eyebrow but follows without hesitation. The two move quickly down the corridors of the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, passing rows of heavily armed agents and high-tech security systems. There's a palpable tension in the air, a sense that something big is looming.

As they reach a restricted lab, Loe swipes his access card and the heavy doors slide open, revealing a room filled with advanced equipment and containment units. In the center of the room, a glowing purple gem pulses with raw, weakened energy—The Power Stone.

"This…" Strange's eyes narrow as he recognizes the stone. "The Power Stone. It's one of the six Infinity Stones Thanos is after."

Loe nods grimly. "We got it during an incident a year ago. We've been studying it ever since, trying to understand its origins and capabilities. But I had no idea it was part of something this… catastrophic."

Strange steps closer to the containment unit, his gaze fixed on the stone. "If Thanos is after this, it's only a matter of time before he comes here. The Infinity Stones are the key to his plan. Each one grants unimaginable power, and combined, they give him the ability to reshape reality itself."

.....

Jean Grey was suddenly jolted awake, her heart pounding as vivid images of the world's destruction flashed before her eyes. She sat up in bed, gasping for breath, a cold sweat covering her forehead.

"No!!" she screamed, clutching her head as the horrifying visions replayed in her mind.

Just then, Professor X's calm yet concerned voice echoed in her thoughts. "You saw it too, didn't you, Jean?"

Tears welled up in Jean's eyes as she looked at the doorway, where Professor X sat in his wheelchair. "Professor… I saw it all. Our people—our friends—everyone… they were all dying."

Professor X's expression was grave, but he remained composed. "It's okay, Jean. It was a precognition—a vision of what might happen, not what must happen. We still have time to prevent it."

Jean wiped her tears, trying to steady herself. "But the images felt so real… I could feel their pain, their fear."

Professor X nodded empathetically. "I know, Jean. But that's why we have to act now. We must be prepared. I'll summon all the X-Men immediately. We'll confront this threat together."

Determination began to replace Jean's fear as she looked at her mentor. "Professor.... Whatever's coming, we have to stop it."

Professor X's voice was filled with resolve as he turned his chair toward the hallway. "Indeed, Jean. We fight for a future worth living in. Now let's go, I'll gather the team—there's no time to lose."

As Professor X mentally reached out to rally the X-Men, Jean clenched her fists, steeling herself for the battle ahead. They might have seen a vision of destruction, but together, they would forge a path of hope.

....

Meanwhile, the Fantastic Four were en route to Wakanda. Reed Richards piloted the advanced jet, his eyes focused on the controls, though his mind was racing. Beside him, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm sensed the tension in the air. They were headed to meet T'Challa, the Black Panther, to forge an alliance in preparation for the impending war against Thanos.

Reed sighed, still processing the gravity of the conversation he'd had with Doctor Strange just hours earlier. "He warned me about a universal threat—Thanos, a warlord from another world who's seeking the Infinity Stones. If he gathers them all, he could wipe out half of all life across the universe with a snap of his fingers."

Johnny's usual light-hearted demeanor darkened. "Wait, you're saying this guy can just wipe out half the universe, just like that?"

Reed nodded grimly. "Exactly. And Strange said the vision was clear—Thanos won't stop until he gets what he wants. We need all the allies we can get."

Ben, who was usually the first to crack a joke, spoke up, his voice serious. "So that's why we're heading to Wakanda. T'Challa's got the resources, and Wakanda's one of the most fortified places on Earth."

Reed's eyes tightened with determination. "Exactly. T'Challa's insight, his army, and the advanced technology in Wakanda could be key. And he's the kind of leader who understands the stakes."

As the jet approached the vibrant landscape of Wakanda, the sprawling city hidden within the jungle came into view, with its shimmering towers and the majestic palace at its center. Reed sent a signal ahead to confirm their arrival.

Sue looked out the window at the sight below. "Let's hope T'Challa sees the urgency of what's coming. We can't afford to be divided when the fate of the universe is on the line."

The jet touched down on the royal landing pad, where T'Challa, surrounded by his royal guard and advisors, stood waiting. His calm, composed expression revealed little, but there was a seriousness in his eyes.

....

As the swarm of Spider-People close in, the tension reaches a boiling point. Michael's grin widens, adrenaline pumping through his veins as he prepares for the incoming battle. He locks eyes with Miguel, who remains cold and determined.

Peter B pleads one last time, "Miguel, this doesn't have to go down like this! We can find another way!"

But Miguel shakes his head, unwavering. "We're out of time, Peter. Michael's interference is threatening the fabric of everything we've fought to protect."

Gwen steps forward, torn between loyalty to her friends and the order Miguel is trying to maintain. "This isn't right, Miguel. We can't just force people to follow canon without considering their lives!"

Hobie, ever the rebel, takes a step back. "This whole mess ain't my vibe. Y'all can do what you want, but I'm out. I follow my own groove, mate."

As the Spider-People encircle Michael and Spider-Man Red, Michael glances at Miles, who hesitates at the edge of the fray.

"Run, Miles!" Michael shouts. "Get back to your universe and save your father! You're the only one who can!"

Miles looks torn, fear and determination warring in his eyes. "But what about you, Michael? I can't just leave you behind!"

Michael's voice is firm but filled with warmth. "I've got this, kid. I've handled worse. Trust me—just go!"

With a reluctant nod, Miles turns and sprints toward the nearest exit where the go home machine is. The crowd of Spider-People parts slightly to let him pass, but their attention remains focused on Michael and Spider-Man Red.

Miguel's eyes narrow. "Don't let him escape!" he orders, but it's too late. Miles is already gone, racing back to save his father.

Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man Red, rolls his shoulders and cracks his knuckles. "Looks like it's us against a whole army of Spider-People. Not exactly a fair fight."

Michael's grin doesn't waver. "Who said anything about fair? We're not just any Spider-People—we're Spider-Man!!."

With that, the fight begins. The surrounding Spider-People charge, and Michael and Spider-Man Red leap into action. Michael's movements are fluid, almost effortless, as he dodges and counters with precision. He's a blur of black and blue, using both his spider abilities and his mysterious powers to hold his ground.

Spider-Man Red stays close to Michael, backing him up with swift kicks and punches. Despite being outnumbered, the two of them work in perfect sync, fending off wave after wave of Spider-People.

Peter B hesitates, torn between joining the fray and trying to find another solution. Gwen can't bring herself to attack, her mind racing with thoughts of her own father George Stacy.

But Miguel isn't backing down. "Enough of this, Michael! You know this has to end one way or another!"

Michael's eyes flash with determination as he prepares for Miguel's next move. "Maybe it does. But I'm not letting you force anyone to follow a path they didn't choose. Not this time."

As the battle rages on, it becomes clear that this isn't just a fight about Miles or a single canon event. It's a clash of ideals, a struggle between those who believe in fate and those who believe in rewriting their own stories.

The battle intensifies as Spider-People from across the multiverse converge on Michael Wilson. He grits his teeth, narrowly avoiding attacks from all directions. Despite his skills, the sheer numbers are overwhelming.

Just as Michael braces for another hit, a web shoots out, snagging the Spider-Person coming at him from the right. Michael looks over to see Takuya Yamashiro—Spider-Man from Earth-51778—swinging in to lend a hand.

"You?" Michael says, surprised.

Takuya nods, flipping over an incoming kick and webbing up another attacker. "I don't really buy into all this canon nonsense. If you've really managed to break the rules without causing a quantum hole, then maybe there's another way. Besides, I trust my instincts, and they tell me you're fighting for something worth protecting."

Michael ducks under a swinging web-line and lands a swift uppercut on a Spider-Man charging at him. "I appreciate that. But this won't be easy. They're not going to hold back."

Takuya grins as he blocks a punch. "Neither will we!"

The two of them fight back-to-back, holding their ground against the onslaught. Despite the odds, Takuya's arrival gives Michael the support he needs to keep pushing forward. Takuya's fighting style, quick and dynamic, complements Michael's more calculated approach.

Meanwhile, Miguel watches the battle unfold with a mix of frustration and determination. "Don't let them escape! We have to capture Miles before it's too late!"

Miles, still running, looks back over his shoulder as the sounds of the battle echo behind him. "Michael… everyone's fighting because of me. I have to keep going… for my dad!" He pushes himself harder, sprinting toward where the Go home machine cause that will take him back to his universe.

Back in the fray, Peter Parker aka Spider-Man Red is also holding his own, using his unique fighting style to fend off multiple attackers. "Captain, I don't know how we're getting out of this, but whatever happens, I'm with you!"

Michael gives a brief nod. "We just need to buy enough time for Miles to get away. After that… we'll figure it out."

As the battle intensifies, Gwen looks torn, watching Michael and Takuya fight with everything they have. "Could he really be right? Could he save my dad too?" Her resolve wavers, but the loyalty to her friends keeps her in place.

Hobie, still standing on the sidelines, mutters to himself, "Can't be dealing with this mess. But I'm not about to let a legend go down without a fair fight." He finally steps in, aiding Michael and Takuya by taking out a few Spider-People with his electric guitar.

With allies like Takuya, Hobie, and Spider-Man Red at his side, Michael continues to hold his ground, but he knows they're still heavily outnumbered. He looks at Miguel, knowing the true battle lies between them.

Peter B, torn between loyalty to his friend and his duty to protect the multiverse, calls out, "Miguel, there's got to be another way! This isn't what we stand for!"

Gwen echoes the sentiment, yelling, "Stop this, Miguel! We don't have to do it like this!"

But Miguel's resolve is as unyielding as ever. "We're protecting everything! There's no room for compromise!"

As the battle raged on, Michael, Hobie, Spider-Man Red, and Takuya struggled against the relentless swarm of Spider-People. They were outnumbered, with attacks coming from every direction.

Peni Parker stood on the sidelines, her emotions swirling. She thought, "Why is Michael here now, of all times? If he had shown up sooner, maybe he could've saved my universe. It's too late for me." Bitterness and grief welled up inside her. Fueled by her resentment, Peni decided to join the other Spider-People in subduing Michael.

Jessica Drew watches from the sidelines, cradling her pregnant belly. Her thoughts are focused on capturing Miles Morales. "I have to capture Miles." she resolves, her eyes fixed on the unfolding battle.

Miguel O'Hara and his team move quickly towards Miles. Miguel shouts, "Subdue Michael while the rest of us go after Miles!"

Amidst the overwhelming number of Spider-People, Michael yells, "No, Miles!!!"

Desperation fills Michael's thoughts as he realizes the need for a drastic measure. He murmurs, "Berserker Mode."

[Enhanced Berserker Mode: This advanced ability taps into your primal instincts, dramatically increasing your strength, speed, and aggression in battle. Activation consumes 100 energy, but the boost is significantly more potent. The enhanced state lasts for up to two hours, supporting extended combat. However, this power comes with risks: once the effect wears off, you will be left severely weakened and fatigued. The cooldown period is reduced to 10 minutes, during which you can slowly regain some energy if you avoid strenuous activity.]
