Chapter 94 - Chapter 77- My Responsibility

Timeline: New York; April 22, 1952

 Time: 8 am

As I swung through New York, I realized we didn't have class today, so I was lucky. Also Mark had a date, and Loe was helping Teacher Thomas, who was getting old these days. So yeah, both of them won't do vigilante acts with me. And that left me alone for now to do my usual day as the vigilante Spider-Man.

With each swing, many people greeted me. "Hello, Spider-Man!" they'd say, waving as I passed by. Their warmth and kindness never failed to lift my spirits.

Returning their greetings, I waved back and even joked, "Hello, handsome sir," to a young man who waved particularly enthusiastically. Then I swung again, patrolling the city.

All of a sudden, my mcall device buzzed, snapping me out of my thoughts with its insistent chirping. I quickly answered, knowing it was Mark calling.

"Hey, Mark," I answered through the device.

"Hello, Michael," Mark's voice crackled through the line. "Um, don't forget the meetup, okay? We promised that all of us friends would have some fun, you know?"

I chuckled at Mark's reminder, his voice filled with excitement. "Yeah, yeah, I know. And also, you should pay attention to your date," I teased him, knowing how important Emily was to him.

Mark chuckled softly. "Oh shoot, yeah. Gotta go, Michael. Emily is waiting for me. Remember, 10 am, don't be late, alright?"

"Got it, Mark. Don't keep her waiting," I replied with a grin.

With our chat wrapped up, I resumed my patrol, scanning the city below for any signs of trouble. Before long, I sensed a commotion—a 5 thieves attempting to prey on two young ladies.

I quickly swung down to the street, landing in front of the women and the thieves. The thieves froze, startled by my sudden appearance.

"Hey there, fellas," I said, my voice carrying authority. "Looks like you're causing some trouble. I suggest you drop whatever you're doing and walk away."

The leader of the group, a burly man with a scar across his cheek, sneered at me. "And what if we don't, huh? You gonna do what? stop us, Spider-Man?"

I cracked my knuckles, a smirk forming on my lips. "You bet I will."

Without another word, the thieves lunged at me, but I was ready. With speed and agility, I dodged their attacks, landing precise strikes to disarm them. In minutes, I had them pinned to the ground, webbed up and ready for the police.

The women thanked me profusely, their gratitude evident. "Thank you so much, Spider-Man! You saved us," one exclaimed, her voice trembling with relief.

I nodded, giving them a reassuring smile. "Just doing my friendly neighborhood duty. Stay safe, alright?"

With that, I swung away, leaving the scene behind. Continuing my patrol, I felt a sense of satisfaction knowing I'd helped someone in need.

Suddenly, a familiar sound chimed in my mind, accompanied by a notification overlaying my vision.

The notification disappeared and I continued my patrol.

As I continued my patrol, the familiar buzz of my mcall interrupted the rhythmic swooshing of my web-swinging. I swiftly answered the call, recognizing my father's voice on the other end.

"Hello, Dad," I greeted him warmly.

"Michael, I need your help," my dad's voice came through urgently. " There's been an incident at the bank. Thieves are heading there. Can you handle it?"

"Of course, Dad," I replied confidently. "I've got it covered. As Spider-Man, it's my job to keep the city safe."

My father's voice was filled with worry as he continued, "Even though I've given you many tasks in the past, I can't help but worry. What if something goes wrong?"

"Dad, you know I've been doing this for four years now," I reassured him, trying to ease his anxiety. "I've faced countless dangers, but I've always managed to handle them. Remember what I always say?

With a heavy sigh, my father echoed the words I held dear. "With great power comes great responsibility

"That's right," I affirmed. "And this is one of my responsibilities. So, don't worry, Dad. I've got this

After I got the location from Dad, I swung towards the bank, my senses heightened and my heart pounding with anticipation. As I approached the scene, I could see the chaos unfolding below.

The bank's alarms blared loudly, echoing through the streets as people fled in panic. Smoke poured from the entrance, a clear sign that the situation inside was dire.

I landed smoothly on the rooftop opposite the bank, taking in the chaos below. Thick smoke obscured my view, but I could make out the figures of the thieves, wearing dark clothes and wielding weapons as they ransacked the bank

Without a moment's pause, I dove into action, swinging down towards the chaos below. As I landed in front of the bank, the thieves turned towards me, their expressions a mix of surprise and defiance.

As the criminals tried to speak, I quickly shut them up by shooting sticky webs over their mouths. It stopped them from saying anything villain monologue. With a smirk, I joked, "I already know what you're gonna say."

Before they could do anything, more bad guys came charging at me, looking really evil. I acted fast, shooting sticky webs from my wrists to trap them all at once. The webs stuck to them like glue, making them unable to move and they fell down to the ground.

I looked at them and said, " Stay put, be a good boy and behave yourselves now, okay?" I chuckled, unable to resist a small laugh at the sight of the trapped criminals.

With the first group of bad guys taken care of, I dashed towards the bank's entrance. There, I found a bigger bunch of bad guys waiting for me. About ten of them, armed and ready to rumble.

I jumped right into the fight, moving around quickly and dodging their attacks. I shot a web at the closest bad guy, trapping him. Then, I kicked him hard in the face, knocking him down.

I rolled back to dodge a punch, then quickly hit another guy hard in the chest. He gasped and stumbled back, holding his chest in pain and shock.

My Spider-Sense tingled, telling me danger was coming. I dodged three shots quickly, moving with agility to avoid them. I could see where they were aiming before they even shot.

Seeing my chance, I quickly attacked with a flurry of moves. I spun and kicked one guy in the jaw, then jumped and kicked another with my webs combined together. They flew backward hard, crashing to the ground.

My precise and smooth moves showed how much I've practiced and fought. I quickly took down the rest of the bad guys, leaving them unable to move on the ground.

And with the final bad guy down and tied up, I shifted my focus to the people trapped inside the bank. Without wasting a second, I swung through the busted door and landed right in the middle of the mess. "Guys, I'm here to help!" I announced, cutting through the chaos.

As I entered through where the people are, I saw the mess the thieves had made—broken glass, furniture tossed around, evidence of their greed and violence strewn everywhere. But even in the midst of all the chaos, there was a feeling of relief among the people inside. They knew the danger was over and that they were safe again.

Then I was met with a chorus of cheers and applause from the gathered crowd. They thanked me profusely, their voices filled with gratitude and admiration.

"Thank you, Spider-Man! You saved us!"

"You're a hero, Spider-Man!"

With a final wave to the crowd, I swung away into the city skyline, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead. For I was Spider-Man, the protector of New York

[After this incident ]

As the clock struck 10:08 am, I made my way to our usual meeting spot in the bustling streets of New York City. I tucked away my Spider-Man suit into my inventory before setting off, ensuring I looked just like any other regular guy strolling through the city. When I spotted my friends gathered at our spot, I simply jogged over to them with a smile. "Hey, guys!" I greeted them.

"Hey, look who finally decided to show up!" Mark teased, a playful glint in his eyes.

I chuckled, and said "Well, Just doing my part to keep the city safe."

Mary hold my arm gently, her expression filled with love. "Oum, we're glad you're okay. But now that you're here, let's focus on having some fun, alright?"

I nodded eagerly, feeling grateful for the distraction and the chance to spend time with my friends and my girlfriend. "Absolutely. So, what's the plan for today?"

Mark glanced around at our group, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Well, I was thinking we could start with some lunch at that new diner down the street. Then maybe catch a movie or do some shopping. Sound good?"

I nodded at Mark, then chuckled and said, "Alright, sir."

Then as we walked towards the street Chris caught my eye, his expression thoughtful. he said "So, Michael, how was your morning? Anything exciting happen while you were out and about?"

I grinned, recounting the events of my morning patrol as Spider-Man. "Oh, you know, just the usual—stopping a couple of thieves, saving some civilians. The usual hero stuff."

"Sounds like you had quite the eventful morning," Chris remarked, his tone filled with understanding.

As we walked, I glanced over at Loe, concern evident in my expression. "Hey, Loe, since Teacher Thomas is getting older, is he alright? I'm worried about him."

Loe flashed me a reassuring grin. "Nah, don't worry about him. I mean, he's Thomas Halloway, you know?"

I chuckled, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, you're right. After all, Thomas Halloway was a badass back in his days. He's tougher than he looks."

Mark then chimed in, "How about Mindy, Loe? Where is she?"

Loe scratched his head, a hint of a smile on his face. "She's busy teaching those kids."

Mark grinned, shaking his head slightly. "Sounds like a hassle, huh?"

Loe laughed lightly. "Yeah, but she loves it. It's fine as long as she likes it.

Just as we continued our conversation, a sudden explosion echoed through the street, followed by the appearance of several black portals. My Spider-Sense tingled, warning me of imminent danger.

"Guys, look out!" I shouted, instinctively moving to shield them from harm.

Then, a loud voice broke through the surroundings, echoing for all of us to hear. "Let the New York War begin!" it declared, sending a shiver down my spine.
