Chapter 10 - Talents

Hearing all of this information from Noah about the awakened and beginner stages, about talent and the elements that come from mana bodies, Ethan became more interested the more he heard.

"So, my little student, even though the importance of talent is high, talent can be both good and bad for someone aiming to reach the highest stage in cultivation. Any questions?" With that said, Noah finished his speech and waited for questions.

Ethan nodded. "What are the disadvantages of having very high talent?"

Noah nodded in response. "It's not that having high talent is bad—in fact, it's a good thing. However, what my little student may not know is that the higher your talent, the higher the requirement to advance to a higher stage. First of all, my little student must know that there are different grades of talent. The lowest is called Non-grade, then Low-grade, Middle-grade, High-grade, Highest grade, and above Highest grade! People with higher talents are much stronger than those with lower talents. For example, when an Expert who is close to advancing towards the Master rank with low-grade talent fights against a newcomer in the Expert rank with high-grade talent, the one with the higher-grade talent has a significant advantage. However, the requirement to advance is much harder. The benefits vary widely—someone with the highest grade talent could have their mana boosted or even awaken another element, which only occurs in the rarest moments. So, I can't tell you exactly. But when advancing from Advanced to Expert, you may need to cultivate and temper your body for years. That's the disadvantage I speak about."

Ethan, hearing all of this about the different grades of talents, higher requirements to advance, benefits, and disadvantages, could only be excited!

As Ethan didn't ask anything, Noah then began to speak about something else. "So, now that you know about this, we will teach you a mana technique for you to absorb mana! And as the only current heir, you naturally get the family's Grandmaster-grade technique called Mana Refinement! This technique will allow you to refine your mana, making it stronger and purer. It's the best technique our White family has. Since I've already mastered it at the Grandmaster level, I will teach you. So, be very happy and pay attention!"

Ethan then sat on the ground, activated his middle-grade Mana Sense, and began to sense how Noah's mana moved. He concentrated and closed his eyes.

After a few hours of observing how Noah performed his Mana Refinement, Ethan began to slowly understand how this technique is used. He started by using his mana sense and tried to manipulate the mana around him. The mana around him happily moved towards Ethan. Now that the mana was near him, he attempted to gather it around his heart and let it rest there. Then, he tried to let the mana flow like his blood around his body. However, every time he attempted to do so, the mana left him and nothing happened.

After several more attempts with the same result, Ethan began to hear a system notification!

with this notication he opened his status and looked at it.

Looking for some changes in his status, Ethan began to read, and at the end of his status, Mana Refinement was listed as a skill, with some progress made. He had already achieved 3% of the 100% required to reach the novice grade. This progress made him optimistic that he could learn this skill in a few weeks. Given that Ethan had learned the Mana Sense skill at a young age and practiced it for years, he was quite happy that Mana Refinement only required a few weeks!

Stopping his Mana Refinement, Noah noticed and halted as well. He then asked Ethan, "So, how is the Mana Refinement technique? And how much did you understand?"

Upon hearing Noah's question, Ethan looked at him and replied, "Teacher, I find it to be a really good technique. Not that I know much, but it is really hard to learn. Can you give me some advice?"

Nodding his head, Noah provided Ethan with some guidance. "Yes, you see, the higher your Mana Sense is, the easier it is to use the Mana Refinement technique, as Mana Sense is the foundation of this skill, passed down from our ancestors. However, even then, other than the ancestors, nobody has reached the highest grade of mastery in this skill."

Ethan, upon hearing about the highest mastery grade, became a little interested and asked Noah, "Teacher, what is the highest mastery grade called?"

Upon hearing Ethan's question, Noah first became a bit confused, but then remembered that Ethan didn't really know much about Mana and other common topics beyond the absolute basics. "Hmm, the highest grade of mastery is called Supreme Grandmaster. But since you don't know much about mastery grades, I'll tell you about them. The first is Novice, then Middle, High, Advanced, Expert, Master, Grandmaster, Great Grandmaster, Quasi-Supreme Grandmaster, and then Supreme Grandmaster. These are all mastery levels, and when you reach Supreme Grandmaster, you can't improve anymore, or if you improve a technique, your mastery will fall to a lower grade."

With that said, Ethan then began to concentrate on Noah once again, who was using the Mana Refinement skill, and began to notice some insights to learn this skill faster!

Author:

Greetings to everyone reading "How to Kill a God." I hope you're enjoying this novel of mine. So, why did I decide to write again? Well, aside from enjoying writing these little texts, I wanted to thank all the people who are reading this, even though the beginning might be a bit boring. And I understand the people mind find this boring ,but I can promise that these boring chapters and the real first arc are set to begin in probably about three or four chapters. I want to end this broring advancement and would more like to write about some nice fights, but well what can I do? I must write it for the character development for the next arc. So, once again, thank you for reading. It makes me very happy to see that people are becoming interested in this currently boring novel of mine! And so

Criticism and suggestions would be appreciated, and your support with a vote or by collecting this novel would be even nicer! Thank you, and see you next time.
