Chapter 9 - SECRET TRANSACTIONS

Instead of the normal everyday routine which was 'going to the shop with her granddaughter every morning ' Scarlett seemed to have another destination in mind, her hand held a black polythene bag which was filled with metal flasks.

"Zoey, I am going to Kristine's" she said to her granddaughter who came out of the room with a light pink face "are you okay?" she asked out of concern when she noticed Zoey's face "are you cold?" she asked again, this time walking towards her, Zoey was a little confused but then she remembered she was previously blushing hard on her bed before her grandmother called " I was about to say you should go to the shop without me but you seem to need rest" Scarlett said with a few worry lines carved in her forehead "maybe I should get you some medicine, before you get a fever " Scarlett added before Zoey could say anything, Zoey was a bit surprised at her granny's actions, but then she realized it was a normal reaction since she complained of a 'headache' before and now she had a pink face, she quickly took hold of the situation since she planned to meet with Xavier today. How could she let go of this opportunity?, her facial expression quickly changed to a weak and tired one "yes granny, I blame the hot sun and the dry wind, I really need the rest," Zoey feigned being sick.

"Okay dear, you don't have to go to the shop, I'll get you some medicine when I return, rest well and lock the doors" Scarlett said with a caring expression, and walked out of the door, Zoey dragged her feet as if she was tired just to spice up her acting "alright, see you when you return " Zoey bade her grandmother goodbye and locked the door behind her.

"Yes!" Zoey balled her fists in excitement, a certain face appearing in her head, she felt a little bad about lying to her grandmother just to meet with a guy, a vampire at that and worse? In the black market! But she quickly brushed the guilt aside, she was clearly smitten. She subconsciously touched her lips as a certain memory flashed through her mind causing her to blush again.

Meanwhile, Scarlett was walking in a different route from Kristine's home, she wore a dark cloak that seemed to mask her presence as her hand clutched to the polythene bag which was also under the cover of the cloak. She soon arrived at a place and paused for a bit, examining the light purple barrier that was almost invisible but showed a bit of color when someone walked through it.

She strode carefully in this place whose climate was totally different from the main village, the cloak seemed to make her invisible as she walked through the black market without garnering any attention. She walked past a lot of shops and stalls and went deeper a little, she branched at a corner and walked further, she was moving as if she knew the place all too well she then stopped when she reached in front of a single room building with no doors.

Adjusting her cloak, making sure no one was following her, though that was impossible since no one could see her at the moment under her invisible cloak, she still took extra measures since vampires were greedy and will do anything to get a hold of hannyas who could be their personal blood producer. Though she could easily shake off vampires since she was no weak one, she just didn't want the trouble.

She muttered a few words and walked through the wall, there was no one inside, Scarlett carefully dropped the bag on the floor and emptied the contents of all the twenty metal flasks inside a barrel and as she did that, a pouch of twenty gold coins appeared on the counter, she took the money and put the empty metal flasks inside the bag and turned to leave, she muttered some words again and left the building.

This building was built by the village government and some strong hannyas from neighboring towns, it was built specially for transactions of red tea by the hannyas to the vampires with the aim of keeping the hannya anonymous and also receiving payment without any qualms, the building was built in a way that only hannyas could access the building by chanting a few words and the vampires can get access to red tea from a single tap outside the building.

Meanwhile, Zoey had just finished having her little extra nap she decided to take after her granny left, she hopped off of her bed and went to have her bath, humming a little tune while she was at it.

She prepared a little spicy cheese dish for herself and gobbled it up then went to change her clothes, she wore a white long sleeve shirt and a fitting purple pinafore knee-length dress she then combed her dark brown hair and bonded it into a low ponytail, she took a look at the half-length mirror and smiled satisfactorily, she glanced at her inhaler that was sitting on her bed ' I seem to be having less attacks lately, maybe I don't have asthma again? That's weird'.

She totally ignored the inhaler with a smile, she was silently hoping that her asthma had miraculously healed itself and left the house.

.

Unbeknownst to Zoey, it was her hannya soul that was manifesting itself, little by little, totally curing her asthma.

Of course her grandmother could cure her asthma, she didn't do it because, she knew it will cure itself when her hannya soul starts to manifest, and that will be the first sign that Zoey had started her awakening.
