Chapter 3 - 3. That Night at the Party

Deborah woke up late in the morning to a phone call from a friend of hers. The whole 'patrician killer' thing was keeping her up for most of the night.

"Hey Jennie," she says to the phone.

"Debbie!" Jennifer said from the other side of the phone, her voice too loud and lively for Deborah's liking. "some of the others and i are having lunch at 5 star restaurant, last week at Acute Real was terrible so we're trying new stuff today. Would you like to come along?"

"Did Ray Ray put you up to this?" Deborah asked using the back of her palms to wipe her eyes

"Yes," Jennifer affirmed, "she said you've been cooped up lately and barely leave the house. Should I come pick you up in 15?"

Deborah sighs, "I guess..." She says before ending the call.

Deborah decided to take a quick shower before dressing up for lunch. As if on cue, Jennifer arrived once she was done and the two drove off to the desired restaurant with Jennifer torturing Deborah by ranting about her previous lunch outing which according to Jennie was a total disaster.

Luckily, Deborah made it to the restaurant in one piece "There's our table," Jennifer said, leading the brown haired girl to the table. "You remember my friends Margaret and Craig, from the winter fundraiser."

"Right," Deborah smiled, "pleasure seeing you again." she smiled

They all ordered, Jennifer seemed to enjoy her lunch very much as she didn't complain too much. They talked about their favorite experience at a restaurant but somehow, the conversation had switched to the topic of the patrician killer.

"He is called the Patrician killer and some people who are against the rich, I am talking about the 'tax the rich' followers by the way, seem to believe he only kills the rich," Craig claims

"The media has always been against us from the beginning." He continued, "and now they spread fake news by only reporting that the killer murders the rich like they didn't also murdered seven lower class citizens."

Jennie shakes her head before turning to her side "Deborah," she called causing the young lady's heart to drop, "Sinclair Corporation owns more than 40% of media companies broadcasting in this country, come on, back me up here!"

Deborah clears her throat, "Well-"

"I think we can all agree that more than half of media circulating are propagandas," Margaret interrupted

"No." Jennifer disagreed, "news reports are based on events currently happening. Sometimes reports available at a given time may favor one side than the other. But the more time passes, the more information comes out that reveal the complete story" she added.

Craig shakes his head "Look,I read an article the other day about the patrician killer. It mentions how they had to be 'a low income earner' who 'probably works two jobs' and wants to 'avenge the poor'."

Jennifer laughs, "you clearly read articles written by internet trolls." She claimed, "how would a low income earner even get to the party during the weekends? The person who i saw walk into the bathroom after Delilah Brown--"

"Delilah Brown? The woman that was stabbed to death at the party?" Deborah asked

"Yes," Jennifer responds before turning to Craig "I was leaving the washroom when she entered. Someone went in after her."

"Wait you saw the killer?" Deborah asked surprised,

"At least I think so,"

"...and you didn't say anything to the police?"

"Why would I? It's not a ground breaking information or anything. Anyways, the person was tall and wore a Pearl master 39 on their right hand. I figured because I bought one for my nephew the week before, no way that is a low earning citizen. Maybe i'm wrong but she look so s-"

Deborah couldn't believe her friend's obliviousness to how any information was crucial to discovering the killer and something told her Jennifer knew more than just the alleged killer's height. She decided she would call to inform the police when she got home.

That night, Jennifer was returning to her car after her weekly checkups at the hospital when she heard footsteps behind her.

She decided to ignore it and continue her way to the parking lot for her car but the footsteps was drawing closer. Maybe whoever was behind her was also going to the lot for their car?

Jennie then walks faster and so did the person behind her. Once she got to her car, she quickly dug into her purse for her keys but her shaky hands betrays her and the keys slip from her grasp.

As she squats to pick it up, the person behind slams her head to the car door twice until there was cut on her forehead before taking out a knife which they use to stab Jennifer again and again and again and again and again and again and again until she was motionless.
